Given the fact that whatever companies bring these vaccines to market most definitely won't be making a fortune off of it (like most vaccines), and the speed at which it was developed, I'd say the priorities are in order.

Love it. Trump had nothing to do with it, and greedy big pharma only did it to make a buck. Maybe we should leave it to basement chemists and Google doctors like shore guy to figure it out, going forward.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you don't apply that same rational to the economic circumstances which Trump inherited when he took over?

In any case, as I said in the other thread, the administration did the right thing in regards to promoting faster vaccine development. Moderna was the beneficiary of having the government provide about a billion for R&D and 1.5 billion for manufacturing. Under the agreement, the US government will get the first 100 million doses available with an option to purchase more at $15 per dose.

That is discounted from the expectation of $32 to $37 which is where they expect to price the vaccine for sales of smaller orders.

Unfortunately many posters do not see this on this board. Governor's are now telling people how they should spend their Thanksgivings and what not. This is precedent for the future. The mask mandate will never be removed, especially in NJ. The government now has more power than ever and this is only the beginning.

The same folks that don't want to get their kids vaccinated may resist this vaccine but if they have anyone that is at risk that they come in contact with, they may be persuaded to get it too. This one is different and I think more folks will get vaccinated.

i think you might be right. anti vaxxers typically see it as putting something unknown into your body, for a disease that was a problem 200 years ago. its a hoax! its a front!

this disease popped up in their lifetime which clearly has killed tons of people. The vaccine was not ready at hand and had to take over a year to even start testing. would be a pretty crazy ploy just to give their kid autism.

The vaccine will not end this pandemic and we will be in this mess for a long time. I think to 2022 or 2023. Don't believe the hype from the media and Dr. Tony Fauci that we will be back to normal 2nd to 3rd quarter 2021. That will not be the case.

Respectfully I think the thing you don't understand is this vaccine will not be successful unfortunately. Too many people will refuse to take this vaccine. We will still be in the "Pandemic" phase for a few years.

I hope you are right that there will be a high adoption rate. However, there are some of the hardcore Trump people who think this Covid thing is a fake. Sure, these same people hate wearing a mask and continually talk about having their liberties taken away, yet will not take the vaccine. This will be an interesting time. I think some sort of identification verification of someone that has taken the vaccine will be developed so that they can then enter bars, restaurants etc to ensure the other customers that it is a safe environment.

Look at NJ, hardcore Biden people, wearing masks but not cooperating with contact tracers, to the tune of 60%. The difference with this vaccine for the people in the middle is the perception that it was rushed to market.
