More Horrific mass shootings

Sickening for that little boy and all those that lost someone. Im so tired of this happening. A world full of freaks taking innocent lives
It's beyond disgusting. Huge mental health issue in this country. Mentally disturbed people aren't going stop harming others if we took every gun off the streets. They'll do it in other ways.

Let's get to the root of the cause. Is social media the cause? Pill popping society? Too materialistc? Disregard for family? Sadly this is bigger than guns and it goes to the core of us as a society. Take away assault rifles you may see more pipe bombs or something else sick like that. Mentally disturbed people will do horrific acts regardless of what's available to them to use. They're disturbed, not stupid. There's beautiful world out there and we invent ways to screw it up.

All of the above and more.

Access to guns for certain people is certainly part of the problem.

Another major root cause as I see it is the nasty tribalism that exists today in our public discourse. It has existed for a LONG time but gets progressively worse as times goes by. I'm sure it started even before this but for me it started with how President Reagan was treated and it only got worse from there from all sides sans the Bush 1 presidency.

Mental health is an issue around the world, but we suck at dealing with it more than anybody. 4% of the worlds population but we consume 38% of prescription drugs. Overprescribing meds, lack of accountability, tribalism, drug abuse, Overreliance on social media, breakdown of the family. How about we deal with the criminals and the crime. Start there and you will solve most of the problems.

Follow the science..Follow the data.

The rhetoric on politicians is so over the top. Lol. To preserve gun right, she would commit a mass shooting. Lol. Thanks grandma.
the hamsters a spinning hard trying to figure out a way to maintain that gun nuts arent common. guns are not the issue! LOL

These people aren’t gun nuts, they’re just nuts who get their hands on guns.

As for the politicians. I don't believe most care about guns at all execpt that their bodyguards have them, but they do care about votes and will say/do anything for votes.

i think they believe it, and they are elected by people who believing. so if that statement is catering to the majority of the party (or state) then thatsba problem.

father of hypand park shooter says he does not regret signing the kids consent form to purchase the gun, not only after he threatened to kill the whole family, but even now after hes killed dozens of innocent people.

gun culture. yet again.

oh so now youre just calling everything a mental health issue? ok so given that all these people are just mental, they should not be allowed to vote or run for office.

lets get this on record that you think this equates. and for the record, this is a pattern in sports parenting culture.
Where can I get copies of the record? When do we commence? When do we adjourn? I never said this equates but it’s amazing how you see the world. You put everyone in groups. what they do is not a result of the individual’s issues but the groups that you equate them to. And you only look at the worst of each group not the overwhelming majority of good people in each group. Very interesting pattern you have there.

if it doesnt equate then why did you post it in a manner of comparison?

I asked a question. What manner of comparison? Just because you took it as a comparison doesn't mean I intended it to be one. Keep grouping people together. Classy thing to do.

you said "sports culture or just a nut" in refrence to your own post "these arent gun nuts, theyre just nuts with guns"

so yea a direct comparison. oops, held to your own words!

That doesn't make it a comparison. It was asking your opinion on a topic. Not to mention, I never referenced my own comment anywhere. Please show me where I referenced myself.

You called it "gun culture, yet again". A parent gave his kid his knives right back to him after he threatened to stab people. What do knives have to do with "gun culture", whatever that is? I call that a parent that has mental health issues, because, who in their right mind would enable their kid like that...apple doesn't fall far from the trees.

I know you desperately want to make it about guns and confiscating them, but this kid and his father have some serious issues (that should have been flagged if we enforced the laws that were already on the books).

Why does it mean the parent has mental health issues? Like SHUSA said, maybe theyre just a shitty person who doesnt give a shit what their shitty kid does to others.

If you pay attention to the world youll notice there are alot of shitty people that care less about the well being of others. Were a self centered society that looks to take the easy way out.

And I agreed he could also be a shitty parent. But he made the "gun culture" comment which made no sense.

Wow the police look like a punch of pansies in this. 45 minutes of standing in the hall while kids are murdered? Sick.

Ban the weapon.

It's still not happening.
It may not happen now. But there will be a point where rational people can’t ignore it anymore. That is why video of these shootings should be shown to the public how these weapons can just mow down people in rapid succession like no other weapon.

lol..."rational people". Is that the best you have to frame your argument?

And that is sad. People stick their head in the sand because its not their kid mutilated and dead.
Banning a type of gun is not going to change any of that. 45,000 gun deaths per year and refusing to enact real legislation AND enforce it is keeping your head in the sand.

I am for all of the above, but disagree that banning wont make mass school shootings harder for bad people to pull off. Also, the Uvalde police should be ashmed of themsleves. Big tough guys until they are faced with a threat.

Agree with you on the police...that was horrific in their failure to act.

There is no proof that it will make it harder to pull off a mass shooting. A sick person will use whatever means necessary and they can create the same carnage with other devices.

You're right, there cant be proof because we havent banned it. I'd love to see a moratorium on new sales of AR-15, let's see if it changes. Otherwise sick people will keep using them to massacre kids.

But that's not going to happen. Need to keep any weapon out of a sick persons hands. That's where the effort will yield the greatest return.

The percent of AR-15's in circulation used in crimes is so small, it's almost incalculable, but yeah, let's ban them. Silly.

Everytime there is a mass shooting its usually an AR-15. Coincidence or does the shooter know he can maim + kill many people quickly? 🙄

AR-15-style assault rifles have been a common trend in some of the deadliest mass shootings. These weapons possess an enormous amount of killing power because they can inflict what one of their designers called "maximum wound effect."

All correct but do we ban all muslims because a very, very small percent kill many?

Gun owners and NRA people just explain to me the purpose in owning an AR-15 -style rifle . Please do not give me the 2nd amendment right reason BUT the sole reason why you need to own any type of military assault weapon . I just don't get it .
