Good guy with a gun took out a bad guy with a gun at at mall in Indiana yesterday. Not a peep in the national media. Doesn't fit the narrative!
Ha it's literally been covered by every single MSM outlet 🤣
The "narrative" line is so played out and lazy, at least check before using it.

Police identify victims, gunman and armed bystander in Indiana mall shooting
Authorities revealed new details Monday on the weekend mall shooting in Greenwood, Indiana, including the identities of the gunman, three victims and the legally armed bystander who fatally shot the gunman.edition.cnn.com
Armed bystander credited with preventing more deaths in Indiana shooting
The gunman who killed three people in a shopping mall near Indianapolis would likely have taken many more lives if not for the "heroic" actions of an armed bystander who shot the suspect dead and stopped the attack, police said on Monday.www.reuters.com
Bad guy is going to follow the law and not own a gun? Makes sense.Very brave move and he no doubt saved countless lives but, 3 innocent people are still dead for no other reason than a bad guy, still has access to a gun
If the good guy with a gun never showed up it would be nonstop coverageIt doesn't get the obsessive coverage that other incidents do, and that's the point.
The only issue is why there are not universal background checks, which while not foolproof would make it much more difficult for people such as this from being able to purchase a firearm. The bad guy's access to a gun is a distraction and a wedge issue. The primary issue is WHY he deteriorated so much that he felt the urge to kill innocent people and how we can fix that.
Sad.This country is turning into the wild wild west . What a shame .

Newark, NJ : 9 shot over the weekend, 2 dead
Chicago, IL : 25 shot, 8 dead
Etc, etc.

Nope. You said not a peep from the national media and you are wrong.
It doesn't get the obsessive coverage that other incidents do, and that's the point.
Interpret everything literally as much as you want, I'll keep laughing at your naivete.
3 people died. Not a tragedy? Tragedies every weekend in Baltimore, Chicago, NY, Philly don’t make the news at all.Neither does the fire that was extinguished by a fireman before it started raging.
People will tune in to watch a tragedy. Nothing to do with a narrative.
You’re being naïve if you don’t think there is a media bias towards certain narratives.Neither does the fire that was extinguished by a fireman before it started raging.

Every shooting that involves any rifle is now termed “an AR-15 style” gun. Why do we never hear about the shooting of an “unarmed white man”. If Nikki Haley is a Presidential candidate her coverage will be far less complementary than Hillary or Kamala. Do you think the reporting of Michelle Obama and Melania Trump was balanced and fair? The story has gotten light coverage because reporting on the benefits of concealed carry is not in vogue.
So now we shouldnt take your words literally?
Thanks for letting us know you're not to be taken serious.
Yeah, nobody wants to know the story of a hero…keep trying to convince yourself of that one.Just commenting that the "good guy with a gun" succeeding isn't a sexy story that sells unfortunately. That's not what people are tuning in for.
"People will tune in to watch a tragedy." This is a tragedy. The networks won't cover this constantly for a reason. Might have something to do with narrative.Didn't say it wasn't a tragedy... Had the gunman been on a rampage and was stopped after 30 min or something, it would have made more headlines. It ended so quickly, and ended up not much different than other shootings that happen every weekend... and got about the same coverage.

Yes…don’t be so naive. Not every news story is about ratings otherwise the lead story would be about Ben Affleck and Ja-Lo.and you think media companies are all in agreement and are just glossing over a story that will get them ratings because of a narrative?...

A tragedy with a hero will get less coverage?? SMHSigh... Thanks for reminding me why I was ignoring this board for a bit.
The good guy with a gun stopping a rampage is not the tragedy of the good guy with the gun not being there.
And because of that, it will get less coverage that what it would have otherwise.
If we're going to have a real conversation about guns, this is part of the full conversation, but the media only has the conversation at certain times.Sigh... Thanks for reminding me why I was ignoring this board for a bit.

The story has received very light coverage for the simple reason that, sadly in 2022 three people being shot and killed in a mall is no longer news. You’re being naïve if you don’t think there is a media bias towards certain narratives.

So it should be a good story to cover."Good guy with a gun stopping a mass shooting" is extremeley rare, as in 5% of the time, according to @HALL85 favorite news website.
Do good guys with guns often stop mass shooters?
Data from researchers at Texas State University suggests bystanders stop active attacks about 16% of the time, although typically without using a gun.www.newsnationnow.com
Exactly why?
it doesnt get the coverage that other incidents do on the non msm sources you like.It doesn't get the obsessive coverage that other incidents do, and that's the point.
Yes there are heroics that happen every day that don’t get coverage on any media. There are cops, fireman and ordinary citizens that do heroic things that never get covered by national media. Why? I don’t know but that’s whT it is. You all know the names of the serial killers in this country. Do you know the names of the detectives that caught them?If we're going to have a real conversation about guns, this is part of the full conversation, but the media only has the conversation at certain times.
There are heroic stories covered but they need to have a certain angle. You know that, This mass shooting (which they all get plenty of coverage) had a very different outcome that was the result of a lawful gun owner with concealed carry neutralizing the assailant. How often has that happened? Yes, ignoring or naive…pick your choice.Yes there are heroics that happen every day that don’t get coverage on any media. When serial killers becomes a political football then I think we should address every angle. Not pick and choose which stories are out there for public consumption every minute of the day and ones that get shown for a few minutes. As far as this topic goes. Throw it in everyone’s face when a terrible event happens, but also throw it in everyone’s face when a good man saves people. Then let Americans decide which way to go.Yes there are heroics that happen every day that don’t get coverage on any media. The national media has covered the story and the man who stopped the shooter. A quick google search shows this.
its almost like hes creating a fake narrative in multiple ways. 1) its covered 2) acts like any news source other than msm would cover this story more than some major tragedy. i guess hes living in the little world he wants to live inFront page on GASP CNN
