I’m sure all agree that the POS in my town flying a Trump flag today over an upside down America flag should pack up and leave. I’m sure he’s outraged by athletes kneeling for the national anthem.

(C)
all other persons present should face the flag and stand at attention with their right hand over the heart, and men not in uniform, if applicable, should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart; and
(2)
when the flag is not displayed, all present should face toward the music and act in the same manner they would if the flag were displayed.
4 U.S. Code § 8.Respect for flag
No disrespect should be shown to the flag of the United States of America; the flag should not be dipped to any person or thing. Regimental colors, State flags, and organization or institutional flags are to be dipped as a mark of honor.
(a)
The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.
(b)
The flag should never touch anything beneath it, such as the ground, the floor, water, or merchandise.
(c)
The flag should never be carried flat or horizontally, but always aloft and free.
(d)
The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery. It should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds, but always allowed to fall free. Bunting of blue, white, and red, always arranged with the blue above, the white in the middle, and the red below, should be used for covering a speaker’s desk, draping the front of the platform, and for decoration in general.
(e)
The flag should never be fastened, displayed, used, or stored in such a manner as to permit it to be easily torn, soiled, or damaged in any way.
(f)
The flag should never be used as a covering for a ceiling.
(g)
The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature.
(h)
The flag should never be used as a receptacle for receiving, holding, carrying, or delivering anything.
(i)
The flag should never be used for advertising purposes in any manner whatsoever. It should not be embroidered on such articles as cushions or handkerchiefs and the like, printed or otherwise impressed on paper napkins or boxes or anything that is designed for temporary use and discard. Advertising signs should not be fastened to a staff or halyard from which the flag is flown.
(j)
No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic uniform. However, a flag patch may be affixed to the uniform of military personnel, firemen, policemen, and members of patriotic organizations. The flag represents a living country and is itself considered a living thing. Therefore, the lapel flag pin being a replica, should be worn on the left lapel near the heart.
(k)
The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.
That’s right...NO kneeling! Thanks for posting.
There is a difference of perhaps being unaware of a particular point versus knowing that it is disrespectful and using it as a form of protest. To be clear though, if violating one of those rules bothers you, they all should.
See, we still have some fweedom in the USA.
So no flag patches on athletic uniforms?

Quite frankly, I think teaching these codes in school would be a great idea. What a great way for our children to know the proper way to respect the flag. And as you said, intent DOES matter.Sure, intent always matters but I don't particularly find ignorance to be an excuse when disrespecting US flag code for people pretending to be patriots.

My cancel culture? Dude, I lean Republican but walk a tightrope middle line. I don’t like the current Trumpism or some of the other extreme views, but you’re reading the room wrong. I don’t agree with kneeling for the anthem, for what it’s worth. Why would you assume we would all agree on your personal political views?
While I dislike the upside down flag or burning the flag, those are Constitutionally protected actions and it's not for you to subject him to your cancel culture.
I dislike kneeling for the national anthem. I can't stop anyone from doing it nor can I tell them to leave the country, I can just choose not to support them in any fashion.
See, we still have some fweedom in the USA.
I’m against anything that outwardly promotes divisiveness. He has the right to fly the flag upside down and BELOW a Trump flag. I have a right to think he’s a POS.
Please, that’s a stretch to warrant your response. Like I think we should ship people out of the country. It was a way of saying I think he’s a divisive asshole.Yeah but you don't have the right to suggest he leave the country, that's a huge difference from what your now saying.

I wouldn't call it unprecedented. I would just say it's not something I like to see. There were plenty of Hillary signs up through the last inauguration and even at the womens march after the inauguration.Keeping the signs of the loser of the election up is unprecedented, and encouraged by the lowlife meglomaniacal POS who just left DC.
I have two in my neighborhood. I was a Nixon hater, not a RR or W fan. They were my president, like it or not. I accepted that.
As I read it, Sami was being ironic at the clear hypocrisy. But them again, we just saw a president encourage stormtroopers to attack the Senate and act like they were patriots.

My favorite are the bumper stickers. First because I’d never have a bumper sticker or allow dealer sticker/advertisements on my car. Second because there’s something pretty loserish about seeing a “Feel the Bern” bumper sticker on a Prius.I wouldn't call it unprecedented. I would just say it's not something I like to see. I always get a chuckle out of the “Hate has no home here” signs that people put on the front lines. Like, yeah, I want to hate in my house, it’s what I live for… Too funnyMy favorite are the bumper stickers. I laugh at those signs because if you ever knocked on that door and asked them what they think of Donald Trump, I’d bet over 75% of them use the word hate and another 20% use a word far worse.I always get a chuckle out of the “Hate has no home here” signs that people put on the front lines. I make it a point of not knocking on the doors of people that have signs on their lawn....lol. Never quite understood that.I laugh at those signs because if you ever knocked on that door and asked them what they think of Donald Trump, I’d bet over 75% of them use the word hate and another 20% use a word far worse.
it all depends on who you hate.
I know a few people with those signs, that’s why I get a good laugh out of those signs.I make it a point of not knocking on the doors of people that have signs on their lawn....lol. Never quite understood that.
I think the point of the original post is it’s time to move on even if you disagree and unite by putting America first. You can justify the Hillary signs any way you would like, and so can the guy Sami is referring to, but I think it’s best for all to unite under the current president whoever he or she is at the time. I’m no fan of the current president. I think there are a lot of skeletons in the closet which are being hidden. At the same time, I hope in 4 years I can look back and say he’s been the best president of my lifetime. I hope all feel that way. I fear our country has become less about patriotism and more about political affiliations.i think people had the hillary signs (i hated her) because they were so against the chauvinistic, narcissitic, grab her by the pussy mantra of the newly elected president. after the BS pulled at the end of his presidency its hard to say those people were wrong. any kind of intense annoying, contrary, absurd, BS, actions from either party were spawned from a common denominator.

Sure, I’m against kneeling for the anthem and hanging the flag upside down and below a Trump flag on a pole. Guess I’m on America’s side?No matter what side you’re on you’re picking a side Sam

I misunderstood your statement. I didn’t know you had a problem with kneeling.Sure, I’m against kneeling for the anthem and hanging the flag upside down and below a Trump flag on a pole. Guess I’m on America’s side?
And I believe both of those forms of protest are peaceful and the person has the right, but I don’t agree with either. Is that so hard to understand that I don’t fit in your nice little bucket of LEFT or RIGHT? Most don’t.
