What a wild season.
**Dawes has gotten much steadier compared to the mess that was in the non-conference. I still hold my breath when he’s dribbling in a big spot though, TBH. It telegraphs trouble. That whole sequence with the sneaker last night had that feel to it early in the possession and that could’ve been a huge swing.
**The biggest key to me is that Richmond and Davis are delivering on what most of this board was projecting we needed last summer to be relevant. Both are All-BE selections. They’ve taken that next step and aside from Kadary’s soreness for 2 games, they’ve stayed healthy. Losing them for extended periods last year was huge and ruined our NCAAT chances because we had next-to-zero offense without them despite a good defense. Both were good last year, but this year they’ve been great.
**And of course, the centers have done their part. They were much more than BE-average thanks to Bediako, IMO. This guy is 3rd in the nation in OR%. In BE games he leads the league in OR% and BLK%, is 11th in EFG%, 4th in FT rate. He had some struggles during the slump against Connecticut and Creighton (um, they have elite centers…), but look what he did in the critical home wins against Butler and Villanova recently. He’s been so important to complement Richmond and Davis.
Unfortunately, we have no depth. Newsflash!! So if these guys aren’t on and it goes south like in some of the road games it gets out of control. The regular season is where the depth is needed more than postseason. One more game to survive
