I don’t have a problem with him doing it because the Democrats fall for it every time. 3 years they continue to fall for it. Democrats had their largest margin of victory ever in a midterm in 2018. There is really not much evidence to suggest they have gone in the wrong direction to date.

The democrats control the house. Everyday you hear about “the squad” on the news.

Because they are the targets from the right currently.
Even if they weren't making news, Republicans will talk about them to get them back in the news.
Look no further then Trump telling them to leave the country.

The average American is worried about jobs. The average American wants to go out, work, provide for their family, and not be paying for people who just don't want to go to work. The average American wants better health insurance for themselves. If the government has extra money they want it spent on them not people who cross the border illegally. The average American wants to make sure their family is safe when they go on a plane, not get rid of DHS. If Democrats are not being run by the extremist minority....then their policies in general are extreme

Plenty of time before November 2020 to focus a strategy while the candidates find their lanes.

If you want to fix the problem at the american border, then yes. You need to have a full understanding of what is happening in those countries which make people want to leave.

I mean, not in the context of the conversation.
If you say democrats have been played by Trump for the last three years, then you are ignoring that 2018 was a fairly large win for democrats especially wen Trump was pushing the immigration issues. Remember that Caravan and sending troops to the border? lol.

The political strategy and political policies are different conversations.
In regards to democrats being a part of the problem on policy... sure.

It is hard to determine what the true direction of the Democratic Party is. Much attention is given to the new shiny light who is clearly an extreme (and naive) socialist. While some on the right try to associate that as declaring the party has adopted her world view, I do not. Nor do I think the party adopts Bernie's views or Warren's views. They seem to be crying out for a moderate. Unfortunately, Biden is too old and other moderates are a bit inexperienced.

I think the party is in a bit of disarray.

Until we see some shake out in the 20 or candidates, we will not truly know what the Dem platform is.

I will hold off judging it until then

I think they need to do it much sooner than 6-8 months from now. People will be wondering if they're going toward the center just to get elected then back to the far left.
