There are better candidates and Republican voters probably know that. The national party will possibly freeze him out as well, and his legal problems are mounting. I think momentum breaks away from him when a couple formidable opponents announce.

the reason I said if more blue win the midterms, it increases Desantis’s chances, because it also makes it more likely the legal cases will proceed with trump and not be dusted under table, giving Desantis an opportunity.

As you use the classic MSM attack line to minimize a fact. Election denial has been a central theme of the GOP since 2020, and it will be tomorrow if the red wave doesn't materializ. The fact so many of these people will be elected counters your theory that Trump is irrelevant.
