Clear and present danger, these are brain washing words. I will make a comparison to email and texting phishing scams, use the right words and people will fall for it. We spent 2 1/2 years listening day in and day out about Russia collusion, we know now it was a big scam. How about Benghazi, that was 2 years of listening to Republicans. Think of the words “threat to our democracy” as an advertising campaign. It’s nothing more than a marketing scam to keep fools interested engaged and distracted while the money is flowing. This is a political version of phishing.

Pretty clear that those tied to Trump are under performing and those who have distanced themselves are doing fairly well. A sign of things to come in 2024.
And his biggest competition just blew away the competition in a swing state that in recent times is one of the handful of purple states that swings the Presidential election. 20 freaking points as the MOV in Florida. After barely winning last time.

Looks like you are going to be right about Trump being done. Clear path for DeSantis in 2024. No more aging Presidents, I hope for either side. He should pack his bags but not sure his ego will allow it.

The two biggest takeaways from last night.
- Democrats happy that there was no red wave. Republicans will take the House and looking like Senate coming down once again to a Georgia runoff.
- Republicans happy that DeSantis is clearly now the presumptive nominee.

The two questions now for 2024.
- When does Biden announce that he’s not running for a second term - sooner or later? Depends on bench of successors.
- Do Republicans line up behind DeSantis to avoid a disruptive primary enabling Trump to get any momentum? He can make a lot of promises for key positions to potential competitors (Haley, Pompeo, and yes, even Liz Cheney).

I never said he won't run, I said he won't be the nominee. So he isn't "done" in that respect. All signs point to him announcing a run, although he has pulled this stunt before where he didn't follow through (2012). You never know with that guy.

But his influence (or lack thereof as I've been saying) was on full display last night. The GOP now has a path backed up by electoral evidence to put Trump in the rear view mirror.

Trump's already out through hinting around threats towards DeSantis trying to get him to stay out of 2024. Best thing that could happen for republicans is that Trump gets indicted so they can move on without having to take him on directly.

If Trump is out of the way I think DeSantis has a clear path, I personally don't see anyone on the left that would beat him so may not be as much of a demand for Biden to drop out early. Could just announce closer to the election and let DeSantis crush Harris. Really depends what happens with Trump honestly.

Two years is an eternity in politics. Agree on Trump getting indicted so he's out of the way, but a lot can happen between now and then. I believe Pence and Haley are going to be formidable candidates on the GOP side. I think you'll also see Christie, Cruz and Hogan run, all could be factors. Personally, I'd like to see Chris Sununu.

Seems to me you have a lot of time on your hands there being angry at life.

How bout you spend some of that time by doing a little research on what happened and what is still happening with MAGA candidates and it how it could hurt our democracy if they succeed.

Here’s some help…try looking into fake electorates, trumps convo with Georgia election officials to find more votes, how maga gop tried to pressure folks including Pence to go along with changing the results after it was finalized, how he and others still use blatant lies (and knew them to be lies) to undermine the results of the election before during and after the election to spur pigeon brained folks to violence, illegal election activity (if they are doing it you should too cheat too) and of course convince idiots that the only way a MAGA candidate loses is if the dems cheat.

It’s a cancer to democracy and exactly what non democratic countries like Russian want bc it makes us weaker.

Agreed about 2 years is an eternity. For me, I would like to see Sununu get the nomination and return to normal Republicans. But, I do not see it happening. Trump will run and will win unless indicted. The voters are his base not politicians. Although I guess there will be a real power struggle between Trump and DeSantis.

On the other hand, especially if the D's keep the Senate control, this gives Biden time for the economy and inflation to turn around. Inflation will be coming down as well as the economy could rebound in the next 12 months. He has ample of opportunities to have huge success. Namely, having Ukraine winning the war, gas prices falling back down to $3.00 a gallon. It will be a very interesting next two years as I expect nothing will happen legislatively but good things can still happen for the Dems. If things don't turn around, then the Dems will be swept out. But most of these things are cyclical.

You are a nut! I'm going to play golf today and then to a Seton Hall game tonight. I'm happy as a clam. I will leave all of the angry stuff for you to review. Why is it so difficult for you to see things another way, you need to check yourself in to get help. Turn off the news and get a hobby, work on waxing your car, go for a walk with your dog, take a bike ride, paint the inside of your garage. My point is simple I own a marketing company and it sure as shit looks like an advertising campaign to me on both sides of the aisle. We see things differently, I think the media treats the public like fools and it makes me laugh. You on the other hand get angry. Have a great day.

He may be irrelevant though for winning it, based on last nights results.

I'm happy to say you are likely right.

I don't think trump bows out, in fact I think he takes it into the mud with DeSantis.

An indictment would be a convenient way for the GOP to rid themselves of trump now.

Watch, Trump hosts DeSantis at Mar-a-Lago next week and announces a Trump/DeSantis ticket with the expectation that Republicans hold the White House with DeSantis having 12 years of influence. Republican Party foregoes primary.

that would be wild, but i think reps would be too worried about losing the presidential election again

Doing so would require Trump admitting he views DeSantis as a threat to his chances at the nomination, so that would seem less like though.

I find that hard to believe with those two egomaniacs. First, Trump will never ever want to be outshined by anyone and he will not pick a VP that will not adore him. Second, why would DeSantis ever agree to be second fiddle? DeSantis either takes him because he knows he will win on or he will not run. I don't see DeSantis announcing until letting the dust settle and see if his poll numbers against Trump look significantly better from the last poll. If those numbers don't significantly improve, he won't run. He will wait for 2028. Personally, I don't think he can beat Trump in the primary.

Desantis won’t be his VP. Why would a guy with his profile do that with someone like Trump. An indictment of Trump or anything which prevents him from running will be wonderful. Desantis just got 60% in freaking Florida. Democrats should want him to run.

Easily won Miami-Dade and ran ahead in Palm Beach county. Simply stunning for a Republican.

There are a lot of Trump supporters that will immediately move over to DiSantis and he obviously polls extremely well in the Latino community. His track record in dealing with COVID and hurricane recovery efforts is also something very tangible. He needs to be the guy who kicks Trump to the curb.

On another note, Florida is a national model for vote counting. The results are tabulated quickly and accurately. Something needs to be done about some of these other states - PA is notoriously bad. NV and AZ are yet again having issues with much smaller populations than Florida.

No way dems want Biden on debate stage with Desantis. If Ron looks like nominee I think almost certain they pressure Biden not to run

Exactly. Said it before - 3/4 of my business is in Florida. Many colleagues and friends are staunch or relatively staunch D's. They like the guy even if they don't agree with him on everything.

I know this often boils down to the "my team/your team" nonsense, but if you truly are open-minded and not a slave to a party or its ideology, Desantis is enormously attractive when you look at all the alternatives from either party.

Agree, and Trump knows he is a threat to him.

2024 could shape up to be the wave election that really didn't happen last night, especially if the economy continues to trend down, inflation doesn't abate, crime and the woke policies that enable it continue, plus whatever else negative that might happen in the next two years. 34 Senate seats are up for election in 2024, 23 of them currently held by Democrats or "Independents" who caucus with them. That's a lot of turf to defend in what (at this point two years out) looks to be a fairly unfavorable environment for them. The 11 GOP seats are, for the most part, in very reliable Republican states (Scott/FL, IN, MO, MS, NE, ND, TN, TX, UT, WY). On the Democratic side, Sinema/AZ, Stabenow/MI, Tester/MT, Rosen/NV, Brown/OH, Casey/PA, Manchin/WV, Baldwin/WI look to be the hot races.

I think it generally takes less time when the elections aren’t close, no?

Also just like how you have given Ron a gold star for his Covid policies after allowing the most Covid deaths from since the vaccines were available, your boy also allowed his poll folks to tell voters they can vote than arrest them for doing it after the fact. Gold stars all around.

A couple things in favor for Florida there. Probably the biggest ballot blunter in political history, the hanging chad, allowed (forced?) Florida to invest heavily in their election infrastructure. Agree all states should follow the lead there and be investing in efficient systems.

Second, Florida is allowed to count their mail in and early votes prior to election day unlike other states. Over 60% of the votes in Florida were cast and counted before election day.

No, since I've been following politics Florida has always been quick to report dating back multiple election cycles even in close races.

Not going to entertain the other partisan nonsense in your post. My comment was purely non-partisan and a compliment for Florida and how they run elections. It has nothing to do with Ron DeSantis - Florida has done it well for decades.

Exactly. Ever since 2000, Florida has been great at this. Even then they reported results quickly however.

Other states should follow their lead regarding early votes. No reason not to count them as they come in instead of waiting for on or after election day.

In what world are you Desantis fanboys living in to think Trump will not run or stand aside?

Trump is running for president, break out your popcorn bc the repub primaries are going to be tasteless, unmannered, shit throwing affair.

Nobody said he isn't running (although nothing would surprise me with him). But he won't be the nominee. He's too old, too crazy and too out of touch. Now there is substantial evidence he is a drag on the Republican Party's electoral prospects and they will not stand for that.

You should look into why they don't.

Well they better put up a better slate of candidates if they expect that to happen. Both parties had some of the worst candidates I can recollect, but there were a lot of seats for the taking from the Democrats, but the alternative Republican candidates were awful in may cases.

DeSantis is the whole package. His resume is impressive, he's managed a budget as a governor and he's made some bold moves that have actually been good for the people in his state. So with that as a backdrop, you know Democrats and the MSM are going to go at him with everything in their arsenal starting now, after that impressive win and also resonating with Latino's. I hope he's ready for that.

Trump is going to run; I have no doubt he is going to jump in. But, he is wounded and there is someone to rally behind now in DeSantis.

If I were a democratic strategist, I would not touch DeSantis right now.
Just let Trump do it.

DeSantis may not even want to enter the race if Trump is there. Just enjoy his term as a very popular governor and run on that record in 6 years.

I agree, but they will be collecting anything they can in the meantime. He is a bigger threat than Trump.

LOL...everything he is doing is setting himself up for 2024....i.e. his Biden moment after the hurricane.
