One area of revenue generation that directly impacts our season ticket holders is our Pirate Blue Priority Seat Premium. Donations to Pirate Blue are going to play a significant role in funding student-athlete revenue sharing, and after careful consideration, we have decided to raise the premiums for the first time in three years.

Can’t get mad at them for doing nothing, then get mad when they do something.

It’s a bit of a catch 22 scenario - they can’t increase pricing until they get better, but they can’t get better until they increase pricing.

George Kurtz isn’t coming to save the day. If seton hall fans want a good basketball team they will have to pay for it. It’s no different than anything else in life. This isn’t unique to seton hall - they are increasing pricing at all schools to cover NIL.

The burden of payroll is on fanbases now. I’m not saying that’s right or wrong it’s just the reality of the situation. If you don’t like it that’s understandable but you need to find a new hobby.

They increased prices last season and did it in April. They scammed me then, so I am not doing shit until I see the roster this year. It is what it is.

And if Felt personally called me I would tell him this.

Prices go up. That’s life. Things will cost more next year, then the year after that, etc.

I’m not saying you should or shouldn’t get tickets. It’s no one’s business how you choose to spend your entertainment dollars. I’m just pointing out that college athletics has changed. If it’s important to you that seton hall has a good basketball team then it makes sense to donate to PirateBlue. If it doesn’t matter, then donating to PirateBlue blue probably doesn’t make sense.

This is not meant to be a shot at you or anyone.

Understood. But supply and demand and leverage are also things when it comes to business and the price of goods.

Right now Seton Hall basketball has no leverage and probably not much demand for them to be increasing prices on tickets.

It is what it is. I get it and understand it, but it still feels like a slap in the face right now, given how poorly operated the athletic department has appeared and how poorly performing the basketball team has been.

I'd also contend that this would feel a lot easier to swallow if our per game ticket prices weren't as high as they already are. Again, I understand the why behind it but the value proposition of buying tickets to attend these games is not compelling enough for an increasing number of folks. Disregarding the secondary market, most Division I college basketball games can be attended for $20 or less per ticket. We are well north of that, not even factoring in the obnoxious food prices and the cost of parking.

They had years to develop a proper priority points system, or real alumni ticket holder benefits, or....anything, really. If they want to raise their mandatory donations and pricing of tickets, than I hope to see a return of season ticket holder events, fan events, meet and greets, etc come back into the fold without being pillaged for those separately. Again, grant me SOMETHING for being a season ticket holder besides buyers remorse.

As a loyal season ticket holder of over a decade who sat through most of the horrible games this season (as well as through some mediocre seasons past, as well as a few good ones) . . . You can't be serious. This might be "doing something" but it's something dumb that isn't going to make much of a marginal dent in the problem. So what's the plan -- we're going to keep hiking prices until it's like going to a Yankee or Nets or Knicks game, where you can't afford to bring your kids or grandkids anymore, and forget about being a season ticket holder unless you're super rich or corporate? That level of price hike is the only thing that might make some difference, but it ain't gonna happen because people with that kind of price elasticity for sports tickets in the NY-north NJ market have plenty of other things to spend on.

Does anyone know by how much they’re increasing the seat premium? Is it actually a lot?
If it’s .50 it’s too much. I wasted my money this year on a horribly inferior product.
Give me a refund for this year’s dumpster fire and tell me how next year will be better and I’ll gladly donate it back to you.

But if other Big East schools are doing the same thing to bring in more revenue, what is SHU to do? Especially when each meeting with those schools results in a winner and loser, including the home games you are paying for? It sucks, but that’s a reality.

Well, that's where you need to find ways to create value for people. If you are the Athletic Department, you can't just throw up your hands and say "Well, everyone else is doing it, guess we have to as well." Yeah, maybe you do...but you can do a more creative job than simply sticking your hand out and asking for more money. This isn't even a "charitable request", they are flat out telling me I can't have a season ticket unless I pay this.

You want to raise my Pirate Blue "membership" by $50 a seat. Ok. How about you raise it to $100 and let me choose a signed basketball by my favorite player. They got what they originally wanted, I got something tangible I feel good about - everyone wins. Right now, we get next to nothing. I don't even get a McCloone's coupon at the beginning of the season anymore.

There is virtually zero incentive to be a season ticket holder. Whatever "savings" you get on the ticket price, most folks lose in paying these Pirate Blue fees. That's all you get. No coupons to sponsors, no little token gift, no ticket holder parties, no meet and greets, no invitation to practice, etc. Nothing. THAT'S the problem, THAT'S the reality, and THAT'S what they need to fix.

Here's my question and I understand the reasoning behind the hike. But it sounds like there are a good amount of season ticket holders ready to bail after this season as it is. Do they realize how many more they may push over the edge with a hike?

Tough timing, but in this climate you have to generate for revenue and more donations. The best people to pay for men’s basketball players NIL are those that have men’s basketball tickets. People were going to not renew anyways because of the season, does this push that many more out the door? Probably not.

100% agree with the lack of benefits and maybe they do indeed role out some benefits with these increases. If they don’t, it’s further negligence.

I’m a guardian NIL or whatever they call it. Think they dropped the ball on that too. Many low/no cost things you can do to make people feel appreciated and connected.

The amount of money theyd lose in ticket holders not renewing would not be worth the upcbarge

Why email this now in the middle of the storm and not after the conclusion of the season with Coleman locked up?

Why am I able to think of a better time and message to send my season ticket holders from a message board than the doofus AD?
