Seton Hall Declines NIT

I understand where the kids and coaches are coming from but do not agree. If I were a player I would want to the season never to end. As a coach I would want players that want to play forever.

would you want to continue to live in isolation and undergo frequent Covid tests?

Sometimes as a player you DO want the season to end. It’s a long, long grind and at a certain point, you need to take a break.

If you like your job, would you refuse your vacation time? Or would you want to take a break after a while.

If I'm a coach, why would I want my players to participate in a meaningless tournament that no one takes seriously or offers any respect to anymore? Why would I risk any one of my players developing a serious injury and putting next season in jeopardy? Why would I want my kids subjected to multiple COVID tests every week, isolated from friends and family, etc for any more time than is necessary?

I want kids that want to play a pickup game in the park if they have to. Kids that want to compete no matter who the competition is.

What about giving them a break after months of isolation and constant testing?
Maybe you didn’t see my 1st post saying I understand the decision, I just don’t agree with it. It is just my opinion and I am entitled to it. To further my opinion- although the kids and coaches have been through a lot - passing up on the NIT seem a little soft.

The opportunity to play college ball goes quickly. Every opportunity to play, develop skills, and win something is a blessing. But the covid stuff certainly made it burdensome.

Good point. We all know they would have been ready willing and able to keep going for the NCAA tournament. The NIT isn't glitzy enough to warrant such horrendous sacrifices. Great.

Under normal circumstances, I would be all in for an NIT bid. But, this yr, I do understand the lack of interest in the Tourney
In a way, it's a shame, because if you play good ball for a wk, you can come away with a secondary championship.
Here';s the deal for me,; I've been around since '66; we've won 1[yes, one], NIT game in all those yrs; I wouldn't be averse to an NIT run now. Why not? Let's be honest-if we beat GTown, and got invited to the NCAA deal, we'd be running to the location for the 1st round game, and let's be honest, we'd be a lot better offwith an N IT bid than that NCAA bid

They wanted to go on with their lives, see their families or girlfriends etc. I can’t blame them. They’ve been locked in for five months, that doesn’t include being locked down at the beggining of the pandemic like everyone else.

My only issue is the restrictions in Texas were recently eliminated. Any restrictions would be imposed by the schoolnot the state. This team needs to learn a winners mentality. Could have been good for the underclassmen
