I’m watching part of it. I can’t help but root for Kadary. They look like an NC contender. Rick taught them how to shoot 3s last week.
And anyone who still doesn’t think St. John’s is the best team in the conference…. You are in denial. They look like an NC contender. Rick taught them how to shoot 3s last week.
I had thought outside shooting would be their weakness. And anyone who still doesn’t think St. John’s is the best team in the conference…. You are in denial.
That’s a helluva team
I mean mid 70s in age...nba not knocking on doorIf Rick does win the National Championship does he entertain leaving for another team either college or pros or does he stay in the Big East like Jay Wright or Calhoun.
No reason to go elsewhere. He has MSG, he has money (himself and NIL), he has endless access to fine dining and he’s old AF.he has said this is his last stop. i beliwleve him
Or does he just retire? If Rick does win the National Championship does he entertain leaving for another team either college or pros or does he stay in the Big East like Jay Wright or Calhoun.
And has said he wants to live in Westchester. Also said he would not step foot back in the state of Kentucky not even to race a horse. He is also a member at Winged foot and avid golfer
I also worry they look this good because of how down the Big East is.I worry about 3 pt shooting and foul issues
There’s a reason Pitino is in the HOF. Repole’s money is important, but there’s not a better coach in the nation right now.
Agreed. Just look at what he’s done with Richmond. Hes gotten more effort out of Kadary in 1 year than Sha, Willard, or Boheim did the previous 4.Pitino is so good he'd even win 8-9 games in this Big East with this Seton Hall roster. Coaching matters.
Wanted to say this, but didn’t want to sound like I was downplaying St John’s season.I also worry they look this good because of how down the Big East is.
Don't get me wrong, they look like a second weekend tournament team but not sure if I am ready to put them up there with Auburn & Duke as the top contenders. And I could really see them get stuck in a loaded bracket, as a FU to the Big East.
He is very close with Mike Repole. He ain’t going anywhereHe talks so much and says so many things who knows. He said the same about Iona.
But he seems to be at peace being back in NYC and having the chance to do this again. He's selling out the Garden, he's going to have a powerhouse legacy at St. John's, he's got constant NIL, IDK why he'd want to go Bloomington.
Agree with you. They were picked 5th preseason for a reason. This is a “whole is better than the parts” thing with Pitino.Wanted to say this, but didn’t want to sound like I was downplaying St John’s season.
Big East is very pressed to get out of the first weekend in the tourney in my opinion. SEC and Big 12 are gonna roll over most others
Silver lining in this one for Uconn is that Karaban looked more like Karaban and was the driving force to cut that lead to single digits in the second half before SJU took control again. And anyone who still doesn’t think St. John’s is the best team in the conference…. You are in denial.
That’s a helluva team
the team that played today is an nc contender imoI also worry they look this good because of how down the Big East is.

I worry about nothing regarding SJU.I worry about 3 pt shooting and foul issues
Another Hall fan sent me links to press conferences with both Hurley and Pitino after the game with clips about Richmond.Agreed. Just look at what he’s done with Richmond. Hes gotten more effort out of Kadary in 1 year than Sha, Willard, or Boheim did the previous 4.
If he was younger, I would fully expect him to be gone to a bigger job/blue blood IMO. Probably Kentucky (again) last year.I was thinking today. Would he jump to a UNC? Obviously.amazing program but if u win over NYC and MSG do u need UNC. Has the ability to stay on top of the BE til he retires
He's been to the mountain top so to speak. He's coached at Kentucky and Louisville in college and coached the Knicks and the Celtics in the NBA. I don't see an Indiana or North Carolina exciting him at this point in his life and career. If he was younger, I would fully expect him to be gone to a bigger job/blue blood IMO. At his age, and being the King of NY right now, I'm not so sure. Plus with the NIL the "other stuff" doesn't matter as much anymore.
He did say in the Post today that St. John's is his last "college job". Said it will be either St. John's, retirement, Euro League, or the Miami Heat (he apparently lived there for a while, which I didn't know). Normally I wouldn't believe a thing Pitino or any other coach says about this topic, but since Spoelstra isn't leaving Miami anytime soon, I would bank on him staying at SJU as long as his health holds up or unless he wants to move back to Greece.
I actually think SJU and NYC is perfect for him in so many ways. He should have been there for 40 years. He's perfect for the Big East in this new era. The Big East needs him and Hurley staying exactly where they are.
He used to have a home on the exclusive Indian Creek island in the Miami area. Not sure if he still has anything down there. He did say in the Post today that St. John's is his last "college job". I forget sometimes he coached the Knicks, and I'm a Knicks fan, because when I think of him in the NBA, I think of the Celtics disaster, them playing the game to try and get Tim Duncan with the lottery only to lose out and his famous "Larry Bird isn't walking through that door" comment from the press conference or whatever it was. He's been to the mountain top so to speak. I never believed that Iona was his last gig as long as SJU was in play (and I think that was always a caveat). I don't see him leaving SJU for another job.
Hated him? That's a shock! He seems like such a pleasant guy to get along with!I forget sometimes he coached the Knicks, and I'm a Knicks fan, because when I think of him in the NBA, I think of the Celtics disaster, them playing the game to try and get Tim Duncan with the lottery only to lose out and his famous "Larry Bird isn't walking through that door" comment from the press conference or whatever it was.
I think most people associate him as having failed in the NBA when it was actually kind of a mixed bag because he did pretty damn good with the Knicks. He probably would have been there longer but I think the GM at the time hated him or something.
Pitino is why I really became a big Knicks fan. The tenacious defense and refusal to go down without swinging haymakers created the culture that persisted for at least 15 years through Van Gundy.I forget sometimes he coached the Knicks, and I'm a Knicks fan, because when I think of him in the NBA, I think of the Celtics disaster, them playing the game to try and get Tim Duncan with the lottery only to lose out and his famous "Larry Bird isn't walking through that door" comment from the press conference or whatever it was.

Knicks had organizational chaos really until checketts and grunfield.I forget sometimes he coached the Knicks, and I'm a Knicks fan, because when I think of him in the NBA, I think of the Celtics disaster, them playing the game to try and get Tim Duncan with the lottery only to lose out and his famous "Larry Bird isn't walking through that door" comment from the press conference or whatever it was.
