That being said, the P4 and Big East have not-so-subtly looked to get a greater outsized share of NCAA Tournament revenue similar to the P4 and the CFP. That’s really where a top basketball brand could potentially add value to a P4 league more than the TV rights.

The biggest reason why college football is so much more lucrative than college basketball is because they get to keep playoff revenue while March madness is used to finance NCAA operations and nonrevenue sports national championships including DIII and DIII. That's a huge nut.

Periodically we talk about how non-P* schools can possibly compete against the revenue advantages that the P* football playing schools have. This is a way that could happen.
