How given the incredible advantages that our southern neighbor has over Seton Hall is it possible that the Pirates have been the better BB team for decades?
Been saying it forever, would you prefer to attend a school and conference where football rules, or one where basketball rules? This new round of money will not have a big impact on basketball.

my tax $$ going to our hated rival..

Rutgers sports scores big in proposed N.J. budget, will get $100M for arena, practice facility - nj.com
They need to learn to live within a budget and their athletics should be solely on their dime, not the taxpayers.

So, given that the Big 10 distributes, what, like $60 million per school per year, will someone explain to me why they need my tax dollars to build anything?

Just wondering.

(That said, they do desperately need to upgrade their facilities.)

Cause revenue aint profit...fb and bb revenue from attendace are far lower than any bt school i assume. I bet at least 10m less per yr. But expenses are probably similar.

No longer
RU has a long way to go to be able to brag about their basketball team. Playin game to get in the Tourney is well below expectations for this past season. Weren't they a preseason Top 25 team?

Where will RU play games while RAC is being renovated? I assume they’d be out for at least a year.

Good question. For what it’s worth, I actually like the RAC. It’s well overdue for updating, but when the place is packed that angled roof reflects all the noise back to the crowd. It gets incredibly loud.

We lost in double overtime
You got blown out in embarrassing fashion
Last 3 years I would say both teams are on par

If UCONN was asked to join Big Ten they would leave the Big East in a second

Umm. In the last 35 year or so there has been only one season where you were objectively better (but barely) that was the Covid season 2020-2021 season.

RU has a little ways to go

And at the same time they raised their tuition. What a joke .
Well, this is the issue, really. A hundred million would help generate some nice, sustainable financial aid for students hoping to attend their flagship state U. for a fair tuition. This is just tossing another huge chunk down the well, hoping that a revenue-but-deficit-generating program will one day ever ever come close to paying for itself.

It‘s irresponsible, but of course it is.

You spelled "continuing for eternity" wrong.
Once we are in the BE……

Once we are in the B10…..

Now that we have Eddie Jordan…..

Once we have a new practice facility…

The RU narrative is literally decades old. No BE team, save perhaps UConn, could remotely compete with a huge state school with a powerhouse football team.

In fairness, this same crowd wanted Pike fired last year!

Hey, I remember when the word Bannonized was coined. Like I remember UMass and temple as natl powers from the a10.

But ru doesn't suck any more.

And I think shu losing its 2nd best BE coach ever will work out very nicely for us.

For an additional $56 million or so in annual revenue?

(Not that anyone thinks that’s gonna happen anytime in the foreseeable future.)

Wait, MD made Willard the 10th highest paid coach in America, he would have taken a job in the AAC.

Looks like RU might be playing in Newark during construction upgrades sharing an arena with the Hall.
Interesting to say the least.
