This will be the only thread on Covid here

We are pivoting away- everywhere I go - restaurants, arenas, movie theaters, stores, airports are all full. Hopefully one day you will join us.

You are incorrect. Per star ledger today, restaurant owners are more worried for 2022 than earlier in the pandemic. They are working about the "omicron effect" and future variants this year.

Loved Willard's comments on covid after today's game on the radio. He has the common sense approach that, unfortunately, many in our country lack.

"This is a virus that you can't hide from. I don't care if you have 30 shots, 70 masks."
"I think they're spraying it in the water or something because everybody I know has it." 🤣 🤣
"I'm going to go have a nice dinner tonight."
"You're not hiding from this thing. It ain't happening. If we get hit with another covid outbreak, I could be as cautious as possible and it's still going to hit."
"I want my players to live life and have fun and enjoy this college experience."

Said 7 players and the whole staff has had it (including himself twice). His tone overall was you can't avoid it and you just need to live your life and deal with it if you get it. Talked about how last year was miserable because of all the restrictions. I completely agree.
Hopefully coach can talk them into letting people with 0 shots attend games.

Unfortunately I don't think he has that power. You have to take your concerns to the idiot who occupies the mayor's office in Newark.
Speaking of mayors, saw NYC Mayor Eric Adams this morning on FTN and on a scale of 1 (DiBlasio) to 10 (DeSantis), he's about a 9.2. Get kids back to school; get kids back into pre-school; hiring plain clothes police team that DeBlasio disbanded; get businesses back and operating; hospitals not stressed; talking to hospital teams every day.

Yeah, he's definitely an upgrade. Disappointed he flip flopped on the legislation to allow non-citizens to vote, but you can't do that job any worse than DeBlasio did.

Unfortunately, it's going to be tough to reverse the decline that Bill and Cuomo put the city in....that will take time and Adams will get a lot of pushback from those who have been on the dole for the last 8 years.

I don't think so. You have democrats waking up to realize a lot of things. They're 2 years late realizing keeping healthy helps with Covid. A shot isn't the only answer. The mayor of SF realizes they have a homeless problem. Who knew? Pretty soon, they're going to realize bail reform isn't working and crime slows down when criminals don't continuously get released from jail. It's about to be an amazing breakthrough, Stay tuned. If they can only get the whackos in their party to shut up, Adams will have all the backing he needs to clean it up like Guiliani and Bloomberg did.

It took Giuliani a while and there was no pandemic. I hope you’re right, but the city is a shit hole right now. They cannot afford everything they have thrown out there.

Do you even read the articles that you post?
Wow, a whole 24 kids in the hospital for Covid in NJ. Astronomical.

I hope all of them recover well but that number is not very scary. And I’m sure those kids have preexisting conditions.

And the average hospital stay now is 1 1/2 days. So essentially, they admit these kids for overnight observation and release them the next day. Let’s get back to our basement.

Dr Nye will need to schedule a meeting with Mayor Baraka in City Hall with coach Willard on zoom to get this done.
I’ve read your posts and I know you’re consistently right, so you’re the guy I’ll ask, is there a chance I’ll attend another SHU game this year between DC and NYC? Or will I have to go to Xavier, Marquette, and Creighton to see the pirates

1. Are you vaccinated or unvaccinated? If the former, you are good to go to all games between DC and NYC. If the latter, you will only be to go to the 3 away games listed in your sentence. I believe DePaul this Thursday too. Regardless, you would need a negative test for all 4.

The latest development from the pandemic. The CDC director wasn't able to answer the question.

@setoniansource Pediatric covid hospitalizations are rising. What you need to know and how much you should worry

Your reading comprehension is garbage. This article supports what I already pointed out:

But only 24 of the 95 confirmed cases had a principal diagnosis of COVID-19, the state health department said, meaning the other kids went to the hospital for reasons unrelated to the virus and tested positive once there.

Aren’t there something like 20,000 workers for the CDC and we can’t get that answer after 2 years? What a sham. I would think the answer to the question is important to understanding the science.

We have that answer.

The death numbers that the CDC reports are what are considered to be due from Covid as that is what is determined and coded on the death certificate by the hospital. None of the 800k+ that occurred before Omicron got here will be changed to “with covid”.

The CDC lags hospital data by a few weeks, so they haven’t really been reporting deaths in the omicron wave yet. I think that is what drove the confusion in her answer there.

I’m confused. Weren’t there a lot of reporting issues such as motorcycle deaths as Covid deaths for more money as long as they could show the victim had Covid. So isn’t that 800k+ number come with an asterisk?

Who would have ever thought we would be at "April 2020" of this pandemic again? Ms Judy said during today's presser that we could possibly reach new COVID hospitalization records during this omicron surge. I thought omicron was less severe?

@HALL85 What are your executive friends saying about the Covid hospitalization spike? Icu covid cases have doubled since Christmas

Lol. Democrats don’t realize anything that doesn’t give them more power and redistribute wealth.

You realize the administration isn’t allowing pharmacies to fill prescriptions to treat Covid off label so can’t be treated unless you go to a hospital. It’s artificially inflating hospitalizations

@Merge told us all mitigation efforts would not be needed after the safe and effective vaccines were rolled out in Spring of 2021. I told him that wouldn't be the case.

Fast forward to January 2022. The governor has now reinstated his public health emergency. The governor has already confirmed students and teachers in schools will have to wear masks "at least to the end of this school year and possibly into next school uear". Thoughts on the governors reinstatement? Once you give government one step, they will never give your freedom back.

What evidence? Go try to get a prescription for Hydroxy or ivermectin for Covid filled at a pharmacy. My neighbor who outs in the healthcare field tried and was denied. The administration has also confiscated and federalized the distribution of monoclonal antibody treatments.

i believe because biden is trying to ensure every state has some. they dont grow on trees. very few people donate and even fewer have strong enough antibodies to work.

My wife takes hydroxychloroquine. Has had any trouble filling her prescriptions outside of her doctor calling to ensure she had enough when people were begging their doctors for it in April 2020 and people were worried about a potential shortage.

Fun fact on that drug, it can cause permanent eye damage. My wife needed a baseline eye screening before starting to use it, and has an exam every 6 months to ensure it's not causing damage. Also, there is really no evidence it helps with Covid.

only evidence i have is that my gfs mother takes it for lupus, and is also head nurse in a hospital covid ward. she never got covid and has really high antibody counts (they told her not to get the booster yet)

i believe she had to be exposed at some point at the hospital or personal life. and im not above thinking her meds may have helped

Yeah, I am not opposed to the idea that it could have helped.
I don't care if a doctor throws the kitchen sink at someone if that is what they feel is the best thing to do.
Just haven't seen any controlled studies showing that it was effective as a Covid treatment.
Some studies looked into it as a prophylactic with varying results as well, so the potential benefit if any from the drug could only be for people who were taking it before they were infected.

Just hard to know outside of a controlled study especially when so many people get infected and will not get that sick anyway.

Good news and bad news. Our experts think omicron might be peaking. Bad news is a much worse variant is predicted in the next several months. I warned this pandemic would drag for several more years. Looks like I will continue to be right!
