A question for our soccer experts on the board. When Alex Morgan was fouled in the box or just outside the box as the commentators mentioned a penalty kick was awarded to the United States team. The question is: Why didn't Alex Morgan have to take the kick and instead Carli Lloyed(Rutgers) was allowed to take it?
I'd have to reiterate that the World Cup is an outstanding event. Although the Women's World Cup is a bit limited on how many teams can compete for the title, it is still quite exciting. Seeing the former Olympic Stadium in Montreal packed with 55,000 for the Semi-Finals against Germany created an electric atmosphere for the two top teams in the field.
The US Women's team played their best game to date and finally clicked from a chemistry standpoint. The US Women's team is a pleasure to watch and they conduct themselves on the field(pitch) the way you would like all your sports teams to do. They don't always capture the top prize, but you never hear this we had no energy nonsense in a big spot.
If you are not a big soccer fan you may want to give the US vs Japan Title rematch on Sunday some attention.
