What happened to PirateCrew??

1, Would you be kind enough to find this kneel or don't kneel thread I supposedly started on the Trove.

2. If you can read I suggest you focus on two things....

a, The incredible number of posts I make every single day here pertaining to anything I can find regarding SHU.

b. The countless hours I toll on the Trove providing more info regarding SHU in a week than you will find anywhere else in a month or more. That includes recent long detailed stories/interviews with

1. Jahari Long
2. Bryan Felt
3. Jerry Carino
4. Quincy McKnight
5. Eric Bossi Rivals national recruiting guru
6. Dave Popkin
7. Jared Rhoden
8. Lauren DeFalco
9. Derrick Gordon
10. Gary Cohen
11. Pat Lyons
12. Multiple recruits

3. Myles Cale's speech WAS highlighted on the free board by me. I again suggest you look for it. And BTW, I reached out to Myles to do an interview with him but he politely declined with the reason (understandably) that he was burnt out from all he was doing regarding the civil unrest.

4. The current Walter Dukes thread is no more than a repeat of a thread that was posted here approximately a month ago. Guess you missed that.

5. The tweet about Jared Rhoden's civil unrest was posted on this site. I will repeat, I guess you missed that too.

6. Do you think I am privy to every single thing that happens at SHU? This is not a job for me. I am retired and do what I do here because of my love for the school. I doubt you will find many people my age spending the amount of time on these sites that I spend to pass on as much information about Seton Hall as I can. But I guess in your case it's not only unappreciated but it's grounds for complaints.
I for one don’t feel you need to explain yourself. Those complaining could leave, would be missed as much of some of the other “active” departures.

1, Would you be kind enough to find this kneel or don't kneel thread I supposedly started on the Trove.

I think they're referring to the thread "Most Americans now agree with Colin Kaepernick’s anthem protest" (which admittedly was on the free board, not the trove, but otherwise fits the description, and quickly and predictably descended into nonsense before being moved to Life Off the Ship)

If its just me I will continue to read, cringe and watch everyone show their true colors.

I couldn’t agree more. I much prefer most of these folks when we’re talking ball. I guess as a transplant from the south to SHU I’m surprised at the takes of some college-educated, New-England-resident or -adjacent people, I always viewed some of the prevailing beliefs around my hometown as less prevalent up here.

I knew exactly what he was talking about. I would never post something of that nature on the Trove as there the info is exclusive to SHU. Here, the parameters are different for all the reasons I have previously noted.

What happens after I post such sports stories is out of my control and when they get out of hand then they are moved since so many of our posters can't discuss their differences in a civil manner.

God bless America, Kap should not kneel, Covid is a chinese communist conspiracy, Black Lives do Matter, exercise first amendment rights but do not loot, destroy, or harm innocents, and Let's Go Pirate Basketball!!
There. I managed to focus on topic. Not easy to do with this all going on.
This is a hell of an entertaining combination, but it’s entertainment at least so I’m cool with a thread on this :D

original post is absurdly out of touch. sports have been outright cancelled, what else are people supposed to talk about?

Knowing the inclinations of this board community... Specifically how several members are always itching to start a fight on social issues... I think we all wince a little bit when we see another kneeling thread started. Or the one titled "George Floyd had ‘violent criminal history’: Minneapolis police union chief."

We all know exactly where those discussions are going, especially with this group. And so telling them, "Hey. Keep it civil, now," just feels a bit naive.

Although I am a season ticket holder for 30 years I only found out about the Crew 2 years ago. Maybe it’s a generational thing but there are so many negative responses. The old saying “ If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all” does not exist on the open site or the Trove. It’s the internet world we live in where trolls can say anything they want from being the keyboard. Things they would never say to a person’s face. I think Dan does an exceptional job and must do it for the love the the site because no amount of money could justify the abuse he takes. Go pirates.

HallDan - Here is the thread you posted on Pirate Hoops Chat and your start off comments.

Was there a reason you started this post and made these comments at this time?

Many of our past and current players are Black.

How do you think reading this post at this time by the Site moderator made them feel? How do you think the follow-up Comments made them feel?

How about an interview with any player or coach on this topic? How about Willard? How about Myles Cale? How about Sandro......just the topic below.

You do a truly amazing job and because of that you have the microphone. You have the opportunity to use that microphone for change. The thread and comments below are a step backward an interview with a player on this topic would be a step forward.

He has the right, but I will never agree with this way of protesting. And I say that fully understanding the point of view that this is not about the flag to many.
For me the flag is something that IMO all Americans should be proud of. It stands for the sacrifices, many of which were the ultimate sacrifices, allowing all to live as we do. Is this country perfect? of course not. Man is a flawed being and that will never change. Here or anywhere else on earth.

So for those who are not and probably have never been treated as equals, do protest. But don't do so in a patriotic setting which should be a commemorative tribute to the brave men and women that protected the very shores we all live within.

You just keep beating a dead horse.

As a moderator it is my duty to post a balance of ideas. I do that every day and never in an aggressive manner shouting down anyone who wants to dissent,

I even noted after posting the NY Posts' article that I respected the player's right to do what he did but did not agree with how he is protesting. Don't know how in any way that could be considered a negative to our black players.

Regarding asking those at SHU about the civil unrest...I don't have open communications with everyone at the school but I did in the last week reach out to two people at the Hall to discuss the matter.

1. Myles Cale. He politely refused the interview due to being burnt out talking about civil unrest.

2. Pat Lyons. He responded directly to the question and that will be posted on the Trove.

3. We are also in the process of interviewing Board of Regents chairmen Kevin Marino in about a week. That topic will obviously be broached.

I am not sure why you feel the need to keep this thread alive but I hope all my answers directly to you will put an end to this.

HallDan - It's OK if you start this thread on a PirateCrew related site "Life off the Ship" and make these comments? What are your assumptions in the reality you discussed. Lets ask our players and coaches to comment on the thread you started and your comments. This site is about our team and many members of our team and many of our coaches are Black. The farther I dig the worse this gets.

George Floyd Criminal History

https://setonhall.forums.rivals.com...eapolis-police-union-chief.47387/#post-723697

He and the other 3 will pay the price. Regardless of the judicial outcome his life in particular is over.

1. Go to jail and you'll have to spend your time there in solitary, otherwise you won't last a week in confinement.

2. Found innocent and you'll be on the streets looking over your shoulder until your past catches up with the present.

3. Your family will have to keep their distance for fear of reprisal for your sins.

The above is certainly not justice the way justice should be, but it is reality.

My apologies to the Seton Hall basketball fans. This is not the appropriate forum for this discussion and I am not the appropriate person to make any decisions or any judgements on its contents. I will let others deal with the content and then make a decision on an appropriate outcome.

Dan does a great job moderating this site, allowing a wide variety of opinions to be posted. Even though we don't always agree, I respect the way he runs the site.

Respectfully to you, I would give this topic a rest. If you're unhappy, go somewhere else.

Is this a threat to cancel Dan?

There's no such thing as thought crime in the USA yet, even though it seems there is in light of recent matters. If you dont like how Dan runs the board by posting opinions from both sides, maybe ya know, go to another Seton Hall board?

Given your age, I guess the naivety is not surprising -- you haven't even completed your college education yet, and you take a backhand swipe at people who have (and then some)? NJ is a blue state, and has been for 40+ years, but managed to elect 2 Republicans for Governor in the past 20+ years, both for 2 terms. So it's not a completely lost cause, like Massachusetts, that re-elected Ted Kennedy for as long as he wanted to remain in DC.
Roughly half of the voters in the country in 2016 went for a sociopath pretending to espouse conservative views over a pretty typical Democrat. That's a pretty damning rejection of the progressive platform, and the weren't all in the deep South or in the Great Plains.

Don't go from one bubble to another: there are many people, from many backgrounds, who think differently than you do, or than you would expect them to.

i think he was trying to avoid confrontation by not being overly specific. i dont think he was bundling "not being racist" into the progressive platform.

i read it more focused on the social issues. aka hes from the south, witnesses inequality/racism and sees much more similarity in the northeast than he hoped.

maybe im wrong tho. i think its valid enough to listen.

to your one point i agree. gotta be pretty awful to let donald trump beat you in an election. on the flip side u gotta be pretty awful to have him be your representing candidate. something was really overlooked

Agree 100%. And here were are again, 4 years later.

the difference is that hes beating himself at the moment. i still think at this point be wins but i did not expect to get this bad for him with the SC decision and the way hes handled the virus and police stuff.

dont laugh, but i think that the election has become so bad that i honestly give DWAYNE THE ROCK JOHNSON a legitimate shot in 2024. i think the books do too, hes got legitimate odds. bizarro world

One of the best features of Pirate Crew is the ignore feature. Some posters really demand that I use it. Dan just keep doing what you have all these many years that has made for the tremendous growth you’ve had!

The Rock is a Lehigh Valley guy, so I'm all in....

You're the best in the business as far as many of us are concerned. Thank you for all you do.

**First thought: Mood improver to current thread.
**Second thought: Damn, COVID-19 robbed this team. Back to negative.
**Third thought: Well, fun to see.

Ah, the swings of PirateCrew, lol.

eh. idk if you can really call him that

"Growing up, Johnson lived briefly in New Zealand with his mother's family,[34] where he attended Richmond Road Primary School in Grey Lynn before returning to the United States.[34] He then attended Montclaire Elementary School in Charlotte, North Carolina before moving to Hamden, Connecticut, where he spent a couple of years at Shepherd Glen Elementary School and Hamden Middle School.[35][36] Johnson spent his high school years at President William McKinley High School in Honolulu, Hawaii, Glencliff High School and McGavock High School in Nashville, Tennessee, and Freedom High School in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania."

Shocked, nuclear family issues, once also had 7 dollars to his name and had to borrow Haku's ring trunks

But in the end the current system of America worked out for him. So we probably should leave things as is. You talk like he’s the normal outcome, not the exception.

Guys, in the past mspaeth has been an excellent poster while being a member here for nearly 16 years. Not sure why the need for this thread, but maybe it's now best we put it to bed. Everyone is on edge and I believe this is day 104 where we have all been asked to stay home or limit our transactions with others.

It's no wonder why tempers are so short.

Again i ask in a peaceful manner why you choose to not answer prior replies about LOTS and how you are moderator of two boards on site but not a controlling interest of website in a collective manner. Can someone really be a moderator at LOTS its well needed and some people need soap in their mouth.

I am working with the owner of the site and until he responds I cannot answer your question.

Would assume there are two options.

1-unmoderated site for those who want to participate

2-off topic threads that just get deleted rather than moved.

Some of you people ask for way too much. Don’t like it, don’t pay for the trove. Don’t like LOTS, don’t visit/post. You act like you’re being forced to be here and it doesn’t meet your standards. Go create a reddit and moderate it yourself. I’m sure you’ll have heavy traffic.

Well you called me a bigot on LOTS, so maybe we can start with you?

Despite that, which I hope was a momentary lapse in judgement, I do believe LOTS is quite civil and does not require a moderator. If you feel differently, perhaps you should just not post there.

What would you do if there was a bar in your town with groups of people you did not want to be around? Would you keep going to the bar, or just find something you did like? Why would you try to make everyone conform to your expectations?

Hint: I know the answer

It's a two way street. He forgot to mention others need to take the pacifiers out of their own mouth.

I wouldnt allow a bunch of hooligans to bully me

This is getting too personal. Please let it go or I will be forced to move it to LOTS.

Deleting is not an option now as that understandably annoys posters and is used as a last resort.

Let's all just get along in this trying time.

I just posted a detailed story on the Trove written by Colin with Pat Lyons. I brought a small portion of that here, yet instead getting a lot of feedback on a great story we are again concentrating on this nonsense.
