Ok we've beaten NIL, we suck, Fire Sha (news flash he's the prodigal son of Willard, a nobody to the University got time Sha deserves that too) and our upper management sucks to high heaven to death. It's been touched up on in different threads but don't recall a true thread for what players actually should stay. I know people want everyone gone, but if we want to build ie Marquette and UConn we need to RETAIN. So who do we want to keep, take NIL out, if we can keep the guys we have who stays? My list:

Coleman - obvious
Middleton - I think he's shown flashes and him being out has hurt
Aligbe - strongest player at times for us, his ability to finish an old fashioned 3 point play is skill
Felton - shows flashes
Dual - I think he's finally starting to get it, or realize he won't get another gig at a high major of this one fails
Yalden - everyone seems to like him, I don't see it but I'll trust what others see
Godswill - Had a good game today and I think he can grow

...I like Tubek but it's looking like the door for him.

A reasonable start but we need to bring in a heavyweight Center,Forward and PG/SG who can score to add to this group.Outside of Coleman these guys give us little scoring.

A fair question, but to me it sounds as silly as posters who in the summer divide minutes among the roster for the upcoming season.

The better question is who will want to stay.

Coleman
Middleton
Felton
Ehrieriene but with the expectation he plays 10 minutes as a reserve
Aligbe only if we get a legit center. Otherwise he’s useless as a teams only main “big”

Realistically Coleman is the only player that should come back as a starter. Middleton, Felton, Aligbe would be a nice 3 man package off the bench.

Lots and lots of work to do.

Coleman Alligbe , and I guess Dual and Godswill as projects.
I think the rest are below Big East level players. Most disappointed in Middleton. I thought he would work out better.
I’d rather take a chance in free agency than roll it back with the current group hoping for improvement.

Definitely need to keep a core of 5 or 6 players; the Sophs and Freshman have a chance to be developed.

Only returning player(hopefully) who can start next year is Coleman. Is he a SG or SF?Whatever,we need 4 starters in the portal.Thats probably $3M right there.Other guys can be rotation players.

It's natural for people to be hard on the current players and say they shouldnt be brought back - we are getting crushed. But have to keep in mind that with the exception of Aligbe, all the other potential keepers are Freshmen and Sophs. Think about some of our better players over the last 10 years, not too many looked competent playing as Freshmen and Sophs even with able supporting casts.

You are going to have to pay to keep Coleman but I think it's a must. We have to put an end to our best player leaving every year. Coleman isn't a star by any means but he's at least a BE-level starter ready to make a leap as a Junior. We need him. And we need to send a message to college basketball that we aren't a minor league team.

The rest are all price contingent and I'd pay them as bench players and see who wants to return. Aligbe, Dual and Middleton will be upperclassmen and have raw potential, but none of them are automatic starters, they will have to earn their minutes.

The 3 Freshmen should all be offered to return at end of the bench salaries with some incentives if they reach developmental milestones.

Felton shows ability to score and looks like he cares. I think he can turn into a useful player down the road.

Godswill and Gus should not be getting BE minutes this year. Neither played last year and both are unprepared physically for the BE. But they both flash some potential to eventually develop down the road. Effective bigs are so hard to find and so expensive that I think it's worth bringing them back at a low rate to see how they do with a full year to develop.

None of the current roster outside of Coleman should be playing significant minutes next year.

I think Coleman is a star in the making. Surround him with even just a little bit of legit Big East talent and the sky is the limit. I said it before and I’ll say it again. I go if Coleman goes. I agree with you 1000% that we can’t keep playing Micky Mouse ball and letting our best players walk at season’s end. Bring him back and build around him. A lot of people here feel the way you do in that Coleman isn’t #1 material but I beg to differ. Love his game. Would love to see how he develops from a sophomore to a junior. I don’t really see the leadership qualities yet but perhaps that will come with age. Retain him and build around him. Send a message that we don’t let our best players walk anymore. Tired of it.

Starters
Coleman

Rotation Players off Bench
Aligbe
Middleton
Dual

End of Bench Depth/Development Projects
Felton
Godswill

Everyone else does not belong on a BE roster or will be out of eligibility.

Need to spend big on PG who can slash, an outside shooter to pair with Coleman in mold of Dawes, and rim protecting big who can set screens and finish. Ideally you find a 4 who can shoot as well in mold of a Dre.
