Can they? Will they?

Yes and no.

Yes they can but no they won't despite Nova not playing well on the Big East road.

Nova 68
Pirates 64

Would be fun to end Villanova’s season more or less.

I’m just worried about whether these guys have any motivation left.

I suppose Coleman is still auditioning for other teams. That helps. A little.

Nova 78

I’m hopeful but how does SHU provide any resistance against Dixon?
He's mostly a perimeter player these days. When he's in the post very slow with his footwork so easy to jump and trap him.. unfortunately we do not rotate well on the perimeter so it's an easy kick out to open three shooter for him..

The best way to go at him is make him play Defense in the post . Make him move his feet. Tough to do with this bunch though..

He's been in college basketball so long he's become old and slow before he graduates.

Villanova just 2-7 on the road this year, with their only victories coming at Butler and DePaul. Coming off of their victory over Marquette, maybe they overlook the Pirates. The game is winnable, IMO.

SHU: 71
Nova: 66

It's really interesting, because I never viewed them as having such a significant home court advantage compared to others in the league. But they've now beaten St John's, Uconn and Marquette at home. Including the latter by a significant margin. And honestly should have beaten Creighton if not for a miracle bank 3 by Ashworth. Although in their big home Ws Nova certainly had their fair share of end of shot clock 3s, bail out shots and some "logo type" makes.

I find Nova and X to be fascinating because I think both should be better than they are. When Nova's spreading the floor and banging 3s and with what Poplar has given them in BE games + Dixon, those other shooters and the big kid, they look like a NCAA team often. And then they have games where the 3 isn't falling and they are so beatable.

Our formula tonight is pressure, getting as many easy buckets as we can in transition, taking away the 3 point line and hoping Nova just has one of the games they've had often this season where those long 3s, contested 3s or end-of-shot clock 3s don't go down. That's why I think we have a legit chance here despite all our problems.

We really have no business competing with Nova, and frankly, the majority of Big East teams. I hate to be a realist but…

Nova - 73
SHU - 51
