It took a hit with the terrible defensive performance against Vanderbilt, who shot a blistering .667 from 2PT on us (18/27) and .370 (10/27) from 3.

11th in overall defensive efficiency. It's why we're 3-3 against this schedule and not 1-5 as without that defense we lose to St. Peter's and certainly VCU. Have an average offense - or even slightly worse instead of amongst the worst in the sport - and we're likely 5-1 and avoid the blundering losses to Fordham and Hofstra.

Perhaps the craziest thing is that with those stats Sha is freaking out that we shot too many 3's.

I can see his point bc we tried to match Nickel from 3 but we only took 21/63 after only 12/55 the night before. It’s not like we were bombing. And given how much we stink from 2, 7/21 from 3 is an upgrade.

For the season it’s not part of our game at all; we’re 332nd in ratio after being 315th last year, 319th in Sha’s first year. There’s a trend here… lol. He wants this physical driving offense without outside shot makers. Or he can recruit/finance them.

It hard to think anything other than those are terrible stats. I am not a big fan of throwing blame around but I was frustrated by how we seemed to play at Vanderbilt's tempo. Our offense cannot compete with theirs. If we are 344th in tempo, I want to get to 364th. Slow it down, play the best defense we can, and hope enough of our shots go in. In the meantime, keep working to improve the offense. We have room to get better.
