“It’s a wakeup call,” postgrad guard Derrick Gordon said. “I’ve been through that. know what it feels like when you get caught up in that moment and you’re talking back to the coach. I’m sure he apologized to Coach Willard for doing that.”
“He’s still young. I’ll have to tell him, there’s a lot of basketball left to play,” Gordon said. “You’ve got to be able to use it, take it for what it’s worth, and get better.”

“I really don’t know what happened. If he said some things that he wasn’t supposed to, coach handled it well,” Whitehead said. “We really don’t tolerate talking aback to Coach and we all know that. I bet if you asked Desi, he would say he was wrong. If Coach said he belonged on the bench, then he belonged on the bench.”

“It shows that nobody is invincible,” said sophomore forward Ish Sanogo, who chipped in 10 points and five rebounds. “No matter who you are, if you don’t come with your A game, you could get sat.”
“The thing that’s changed (this season) is we hold each other accountable,” ‘Sanogo said. “That wasn’t going on last year.”
