You have to remember that Willard is a long time Pitino disciple. At the end of the day self promotion always comes first. Not that you can’t say that about most coaches of course, but Pitino and his students like Willard, Mack, and Cronin don’t try to hide it.
Probably but the perception is that he weaseled his way out of here. Can’t say the same about what he’s doing right now. Incredibly shrewd but being so public about is refreshing in a way.
I find it interesting Pitino’s own son and a protege are most likely entering the Big East with him still around.
I believe that he is fighting a battle for resources with football and that can her very old very quickly. Then the AD leaves and one of the best jobs in America wants you to be its coach.

I don’t think a coach could have been so transparent about it even a couple years ago. Now that everyone is year to year, there’s no reason to pretend you’re not abandoning your team while you go off in search of a more lucrative situation. Now, they can do the same thing.
This will be the first year that Quick Rick shares more DNA with another league coach than he does with a restaurant tablecloth in a league city.

He learned from a very early age that there is ZERO loyalty and as a coach they will drop you the second it goes the wrong way
Whether this is right or wrong or he is sleazy about it is fair game..but it’s in his DNA to have no allegiance to any school ever

Florida looked great IMO. They survived their "white-knuckler" against UCONN, which you figured would be tough because of their championship pedigree, coach, experience and overall talent level as a group. Guess we will see now how much legs Willard to Nova has.

Mack transfered into xavier as a player under Prosser...coached hs ball in ohio girls I believe...ended up with prosser at x then wake and came back to X in 2004
