It’s all about NIL money now. Jay Wright, Brad Stevens, Danny Hurley or whoever coach u want to name. Without NIL money, it’s impossible to win. It’s all chalk in the Final Four, I am assuming Auburn will win. All Final Four teams had big money to spend. Big money doesn’t guanrsntee a Final Four but without it, it will not happen. He’ll, Sweet 16s won’t happen again without big NIl money. It’s not about the coaching anymore.

Not to sound cold about it, but it’s “adapt or die,” Cernj. I readily acknowledge that the Hall’s NIL situation this past season was a complete sh*tshow, but it was also Sha who decided how to allocate the limited funds he had. And as we all saw, his “method” of constructing a team failed miserably. And, it is concerning to me that - at this relatively early stage in the off-season- it seems like he’s following the same failed blueprint for constructing the roster this off-season. It’s too convenient and gives him way too much of a pass to say his coaching methods aren’t suited for the NIL era. Well, he’s getting paid $2.5 million a year to figure out coaching methods that will work in this era. I am rooting like hell for him to find them.
The funny thing is that I heard a “done” on Thursday 3/20 with “details being worked out but done”.

Then where were the upsets this year? Where were the Cinderella teams this year? Are you ever going to see a team like St Peter’s in the Final Eight? We had plenty of teams who were built from the ground up and came together as seniors who made runs in the NCAA Tournament. A coach like PJ would not make it anymore in today’s NIL because he was a molder of players over the years. His players got better every year. That’s over. So even if a team had all the gaudy top recruits a Duke like Danny Ferry, Christian Laetner and a Phil Henderson in 1989, it can be beat by a senior laden team of John Morton, Raymon Ramos and Andrew Gaze with a great coach. That’s done. That's never going to happen again.
If Kadary got $1.5 million which was pretty much the entire NIL budget for the Hall, what kind of team could possibly be constructed by Holloway? There is only so much that can be done and I don't care what brilliant coach you have. It is not giving Holloway a pass to say, he had no NIL and could not compete. If he has a big NIL number in his pocket and then he has a terrible season, it's on him.
The transfer portal is the big difference. Coaches always would have poached players if there was no sit out. Money has always been around.
That’s nonsense PJ wouldn’t have made it because he molded players. Coach K molded Ferry, Laettner, Hill, Hurley, Wojo, Battier, Williams. But he also adapted with guys like Elton Brand and got a bunch of one and dones. Here’s a secret, keep to yourself, his money guys bought those players before NIL.

Maryland fans are upset because they believe themselves to be a Top 10 program. In reality they haven't been a top basketball school in 20 years.
TV personalities and sportswriters are upset because they don't know what to do. Its all about football even when its not. A coach left a Big 10 school on his terms for a school in a "Mickey Mouse" conference.
You aren't going to be able to outspend Pitino, Repole and St. John's. To be honest, I don't think we can either. You need to pick up less pricey talent.
The problem this year for Seton Hall was certainly NIL, but a big part of it was also roster construction. You can't just spend your money on the best available talent. You need to be thoughtful about the guys you are picking up. There's no doubt in my mind that Holloway learned that lesson.
You know better if you can. I always assumed you could, but that's perception from afar and based on the fact that you are Uconn, the only football school in the Big East, with the best program in the Big East, and a maniacal fan base (basically Kentucky West).
But I absolutely think the big football schools can and will outspend anyone in the Big East. Happened last year. Guess we will see with Demary, who apparently is a big target for you guys, Kentucky, SJU and other big boys.

There are kids out there right now that both Connecticut and St. John's are looking at. The rumor is that St. John's is prepared to drop $2 million on a single player. I don't think we will. Now, that doesn't mean we may not get them anyway. If the only thing a kid is interested in is how much NIL he's getting, we probably don't want him anyway.
Willard was not Nova's top choice. Others were. When Cronin and other candidates backed out then Willard became a serious candidate and that was 2 weeks ago.
This is true, but he was on the list of 5-6 coaches they were looking at before the season even ended.
I seldom have good (or any) sources, but I had one that was a whopper, in this case. It was nowhere near done on 3/20.
