Yesterday was the hottest day ever recorded for Earth

Is 44 years material?

That satellite modeling system has only been around since 1979, though the NOAA data goes back to 1880 and it was still the hottest day on record.

If you trust the data modeling, it may have been the hottest day since before any human was on earth.

OK, so the climate is changing. In other news....

Even if you believe warming caused by fossil fuel emissions nothing changes if China and India don’t reduce their emissions like the US has done since 2000.Always seems to be ignored by climate change alarmists when they push green energy. Before any climate alarmists call me out on this please note John Kerry our climate czar agrees with thus statement. So stop pushing investment if nothing will change.

China is leading on building up their renewable infrastructure and their carbon output per capita is half that of the US.

Are they also going to stop throwing all of the recyclables we send them into the ocean?

You seemed to care about the short time frame of 44 years as being the reason to brush this off, so when I point out that it was the hottest temp ever recorded, the short window no longer matters and you actually just don't care about the topic?

So why are you posting in this thread?

Human activity induced or not, if this trend continues (which seems likely) there are going to be significant negative impacts in the long term. From food and water scarcity to global mass migration to extreme weather, storms and rising sea levels wiping out areas where people live.

When there is proper incentive for them to do so. I'm not saying they are the good guys, but we can't just ignore that they have been investing heavily in renewable energy.

IMO I find the topic amusing and find it to be a dog whistle, subject for politicians and people on the extreme ends of the issue to yell at the other side.

Climate is changing, and humans do have some impact on it, although not clear.

I’m all for doing responsible things at this long as it does not bankrupt the country. I also looked to our leaders to make personal sacrifices to show that they are invested in the more material changes (if they expect me to be).

I drive an IC and make my decisions based on cost and enjoyment. I don’t litter, I do recycle, and I’m cognizant about wasting in general. Does that mean I can’t have an opinion?

My original response, if you couldn’t tell, was tongue and cheek as the OP is a Loon.

Merge I wonder if the coal plants China is building is part of their renewable energy program ?

"bankrupting the country" Fearmongering narrative.

If we need to change, it's not going to ever work if we rely on people making the decision on their own unfortunately.

Even if we had significant evidence that this was all due to man and we knew exactly what would fix it, people still wouldn't go along with it.

Lol. You know what I meant. I have no interest in spending billions of taxpayer dollars in areas that will have a little or no ROI. Or just doing something to say we are doing something. Is that better?

And I should rely on the government to make those decisions for me? Call me skeptical, but there are a lot of people making a personal gain from some of this legislation.

Then why are we bothering?

They are building whatever they need to build to meet their energy needs.

But, they are getting higher and higher percentages of renewables to their total energy consumption which is double that of the US.

With half the emissions per capita of the US, why are you making them the bad guy compared to us?

China emissions went up about 3 billion tons annually from 2008-2018. About a 40% increase. In same period US decreased 500 million about a 10% decrease.Energy Secretary bragging how great China climate change efforts are.China accounts for around 33% of global emissions US at 13%.To be fair she is an identity hire like little Pete and after being on the job for 18 months when asked by a reporter how many barrels of oil US consumes each day she said she didn’t know but she could find out for him. This is a clown cabinet that fits in with a clown president looking for a person in the crowd who died a month before who he praised in a special message.Send the clowns home please.

So are you saying we have to incentivize China not to throw trash in the ocean and pollute it?

They are a developing country, we are a developed country. You can't compare emissions growth. We had periods of significant growth as well.

Again, they are not the good guys. They will do whatever they need to do to meet their energy needs but the fact that part of that plan is significant investment in alternative energy should tell you something.

No.

I'm saying they are not the good guys. They aren't doing something because it is right for the earth. They are doing what is selfish. Just happens that what is best for their country is investing heavily in alternative energy. A shame we don't view it the same... but they won't care about the pollution until there is a reason for them to care.

Agree about them being “not good guys”. I’m not sure they care that much about the general population as they don’t hold elections or are accountable. I’ve been to Shanghai and the air pollution is awful.

This is getting crazy pretty quickly. It's now the hottest week on record. Human induced climate change! The wild fire smoke we saw a few weeks ago is just the beginning.

So what do you want humans to do today if it is that dire?

It's not reversible at this point. Al Gore and the Democrats have been working for us on this for years. And no one wanted to listen.
So then we should do nothing? Okay, I’m glad I wasn’t wasting time or money.

You don't get it. Al Gore has been telling the the last 20/30 years about climate change and how you can help prevent it. Obviously you didn't care. That's on you.
Al Gore…. Lol. This is exactly why I have the opinion that I do.

If the "Science" was "in" like some say.... they would be able to estimate what the positive changes in environment would be when everything that was proposed was put into effect... we would have the BENEFIT side of the COST / BENEFIT analysis...... but they can't define the benefit.... seems simple to me. Little or discernable benefit should mean no outlandish spending until they can show some real proof.
