Did your daughter not think part of her job as an RN would be treating people with infectious diseases? Your daughter also has the option to get vaccinated to protect herself. If she did, what is she worried about?

Maybe your daughter should have tried a different profession if those are the issues you're worried about.

Maybe we have those who are too scared to take a shot sign a waiver that they wont seek healthcare when they inevitably need it. That seems like a fair compromise.

But what the vax does is mitigate and immensely weaken a virus vs. having unvaccinated hosts around where the virus feasts off. Unvaccinated people allow the virus to strengthen and figure out how to survive.

So when the virus gets passed around by vaxed people and gets stronger with the unvaxed, it’s only a matter of time before all of the crazy variants come out and we start all over again. It is what it is.
This is so false. The vaccines are triggering mutations in the virus not the unvaxed. Take the flu vaccine for example. The reason they don't work is because the reaction to the vax in our immune system trains it to a specific response. Then the next time we're exposed to a different strain our immune system tries to fight it with what it "learned" from the triggered response of the vax. The efficacy of the flu vax on the best year is only 60% and can go as low as 10%. That data was confirmed by Lord Faucci in 2017. Look it up.

Point is, unless you have health concerns that would make you more at risk if you contract the virus, don't get it. You best defense is your own immune system. If you get it and recover, you will be far better protected than by an experimental drug being passed off as a vaccine. I'm over 50 and have never taken a flu vaccine. I haven't had the flu since I was in my early teens. Luck? I don't believe it is.

Again... Of course because the far majority of the adult population is vaccinated.
if 100% of the population was vaccinated then 100% of the census would be vaccinated - That doesn't say anything about the vaccines effectiveness though.

That is all true. Should have just said that instead of including the part about vaccine being less effective.
There’s more and more breakthrough cases. And that is contributing to more vaccinated hospitalizations.

Insinuating they're collapsing from cardiac arrest due to taking a safe vaccine is funny to me.
No one can say it is safe or unsafe at this point. There have not been enough studies to make that determination. Everyone keeps citing the 800k covid deaths (of which more than half have been under Sleepy's watch) but ignores the more than 40k deaths linked to the vaccine. The increase of these athletes collapsing do correlate to the time of the vaccine roll outs.

Yes. Healthcare Profeasonals can say they're safe, that is their expertise. Next.

You have an issue then with our unvaccinated players competing?

This is turning into an epic thread. Agree that Willard should mandate that all players be vaccinated. Given that SHU already had that mandate for all students attending class, I can only surmise that those unvaccinated have a religious or medical waiver.

The only REAL way to get this season in is to shut everybody out of the men's basketball circle. It may not be the time of their lives, but plenty of time for socializing in April and May.
Thank you. I’m pretty sure the players would not mind making the sacrifice for only 2 more months. After March they will have much more flexibility and can go back to enjoying college. Having multiple games cancelled is not good for their mental health either. I’m sure they would much rather stay isolated if it means they can play games. They don’t have to go insane but avoiding fan/press interaction, eating in their apartments, avoiding going back home are small things that could make a difference. As fans they best thing we could do is wear masks at events to avoid infecting them. Not a huge ask on our part

Here's a question? Is anyone on the team symptomatic or just tested positive? There is a huge distinction. For all the numbers that are out there showing overall recovery rate of 99.7% for all age groups regardless of co-morbidities, what people conveniently fail to consider is how many cases are never recorded because they were asymptomatic or symptoms so mild it was never reported. This virus is more transmittable than the flu but it's not more deadly. The same demographic of people who die from the flu are who are dying from covid....just more of them are getting it. Typical flu year there are an average of 30million cases. Covid the past year there are 51 million. More people died because more people got it, not because it is any more deadly. We need to stop the fear porn and go back to normal life. If you are an at risk person, take precaution. The rest of the world should not be punished because some are at risk.

That is what they experience last year and in interviews many said it was horrible. The results on the floor were proof positive of how difficult it was mentally for them.

It's the same as most colleges...it's not a real mandate. You can be exempt for Religious, medical or personal reasons. I have kids in college. Only requirement is to go to medical center and get your nose swabbed weekly if not vaxed. Wasn't that hard. Just had to say they don't believe in vaccines that have not been tested properly. Waiver granted.

These are all separate things.

1). I’m not talking about my health. I’m 48 and haven’t had the flu in 20+ years. I only started taking a vaccine in the last 4+ years for my kids. Have I had it? I don’t know—but I could have been asymptomatic and I do not want to jeopardize my kids today.

2). The flu vaccine is not an mRNA vaccine. It changes every year and modern medicine does their best at guessing what the flu will been each season and thereby lab techs/docs do their best to mimic what they think the pattern of the virus will be for the upcoming season of if.

3). The mRNA vaccines (2 of the 3 types you can get now) trigger a response for your immune system to identify and respond to the COVID virus if you are exposed. It is not carried by your DNA at all. (mRNA’s have been studied for quite a long time).

for those that do not have the vaccine, it can create a worse response. It may not. But it’s like playing Russian roulette.

the simple fact is we don’t have long term evidence on how COVID can affect us and what damage it can inflict. Viruses love to spread and multiply in hosts that cannot defend themselves. Vaccines improve chances because someone has exposure and somewhat of a line of defense. If their entire body is inflamed and they have lots of health issues, the vaccine won’t save them but it could mitigate complications.

Very sad state of events!! I hope no one is that the players are all right!! When will a decision be made regarding the St. John'e game?

This is really disheartening. I have no idea what the details are but everyone knows the protocols. If you test positive you could be out 10 days which will impact the success of the team. So if getting vaccinated can help avoid the risk of a team outbreak, why wouldn’t everyone get vaccinated? Is everyone row the boat in the same direction?

That being said it’s clear that Covid is spreading again thru out the country, vaccinated or not so I’m not blaming anyone. Personal note, the guy sitting next to me Sunday night contacted me Wednesday that he he was sick and testEd positive even though he had two Covid shots. I self tested negative twice over the last two days.

C’mon 09. You’re better than this.

There sure are!

We defeated polio with a vaccine that works. Not one that needs a booster every 6 months!

… at its peak, polio infected less people in a year than we’re infected in a singlewith Covid. It was not even remotely close to being as contagious.

These are VERY different viruses. Is it surprising they would require different solutions?

Tell that to the dozens of vaccinated players in pro sports testing positive right now

If students attending class need vaccines, players taking the court or field with other players, students and fans in attendance at games need the vaccine. Why the special rule? Go somewhere else or leave the team, as Kyrie Irving did, out of principle if you don’t want the vaccine. This is unfair to other players and the greater community.
