Xavier baby

Yes, but before we get ahead of ourselves, Texas was 6-12 and finished 13th in SEC, whereas Xavier was 13-7 and tied for 4th. In fairness, Texas was injured most of year, and was healthy last night, but it was essentially a home game for Xavier.

It will be interesting to see how other Big East teams do. We had really bad out of conference record.
Yes. But last night, the BE played the SEC and the BE won. And it was great.

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – In an explosive offensive day from Kelsey Carr, the Seton Hall softball team (15-10) defeated Rider, 7-4 and 4-2, in a doubleheader sweep at Mike Sheppard Sr. Field.

How It Happened (Game One)
Once again, the Pirates found gold in the opening frame against the Broncs. Kelsey Carr put the Pirates up 2-0 with a double down the line that scored Katey Brennan and Taylor Hill. The Pirates offense continued to pounce, loading the bases with two outs still in the first frame. The Pirates plated another two runs after Gabby Mercado walked in a run after being hit-by-pitch and Amber Johnson singled into left field. After cycling all the way back to the top of the lineup, the Pirates exited the first inning with a 4-0 lead.

Rider pulled back a pair of runs in the second with a two-RBI triple in the second to make it a 4-2 game, but the Pirates remained in control of the game. The Broncs continued to push the Pirates, adding another run in the third inning to make it a 4-3 Seton Hall lead.

With their lead threatened, the Pirates landed the taming blow in the bottom of the third inning. After a leadoff triple, Caroline Hobbes scored on a Naya Martinez single to give The Hall a two-run lead. The run did not end there, however, Brennan plated a pair of Pirates, including Martinez, after the Broncos centerfielder had trouble fielding the ball.

After extending their lead, Kyra Kreuscher took the circle in place of Karissa Dupuis. Once in the circle, Kreuscher gave the broncos no breathing room. Despite allowing one run, in her four innings to close out the game, she only allowed two hits and no walks during her four innings of work. With a fly out to centerfield, the Pirates secured the 7-4 victory in the first leg of the doubleheader.

How It Happened (Game Two)
After a quick break, the Pirates returned to the field with Rachael Schumann in the circle. The freshman kept the first frame scoreless before the fiery Pirates stepped to the plate. With two outs, Carr collected her first home run of the day to put The Hall up 1-0.

Despite allowing a home run, Schumann mitigated the damage and kept the game tied at 1-1 after the top of the fourth inning. After an inning-opening fly out by Carr, the Pirates loaded the bases once again. This time, Martinez drove home another run on an error by the shortstop to secure a 2-1 Pirates lead.

In the fifth, Carr took over in the circle as the Pirates looked to close out the game. The graduate student immediately struck out the side to open her pitching slate against Rider, sending herself to the plate in the bottom of the frame. With a runner on first, Carr made her life in the circle easier by crushing a two-run home run to the identical spot of her first, putting the Pirates up 4-1 at the end of five innings. Despite allowing run in the sixth inning, Carr closed out the game in seven innings to earn the Pirates a 4-2 victory and secure the sweep over Rider.

Willard

Really? Willard would leave his situation at Maryland for Nova? That sounds kinda crazy.

What’s the buyout for him there?

Between the Neptune buyout and a Willard buyout plus contract, that is a good chunk of change.
Like Fishjam said the travel can’t be enjoyable and if the money and NIL are comparable plus out of the big state schools?

This guy gives nice chunk of money to their program so decent source but don’t know who is telling him this. With all the other info it’s clear this is serious

Willard

Will see how Maryland looks on Friday. Will he looked checked out? Could history repeat, does he endorse Tony Skinn to take Maryland job on his way out?

Not playing in an NCAA tournament game in 3 years and the year we just had, makes having a coach looked checked out in the NCAA tournament to be a giant step in the right direction.
