AOC - dumbest human on earth

A lot? Did you see Lara Logan’s interview?

Highlights but overall I think she misses the mark in a few spots.

Her megaphone analogy for example. If I have 50 million people on one site and and yelling at them through 7 different megaphones, does that have a bigger impact than if I am yelling at 50 million people on the other side with 1 megaphone? Media is currently confirmation bias. People watch the news they want to hear.
There are more liberal outlets for sure. Not disagreeing with that.

If you haven't learned by now that having a degree confers intelligence on absolutely no one, then there's not much hope for you.

Yes, my mistake. Graduating with honors in an extremely difficult field at a top university means absolutely nothing. if Joey McGuzzles from the local bar could just round up the tuition money he could do the same.

Wasn't your comparison to an actual poster, and likely SHU alum, rather than some tired Irish stereotype?

I went to SHU and graduated with highest honors in 2 scientific disciplines. If I'm not smarter than that twit, I'll see you at the pub. And when I was at SHU, the econ majors did less work than anyone. I'd love to see you sit through a P-chem course if you think Econ is some deeply cerebral course of study.

I appreciate you listing your credentials but I have no idea where you're going with this. Are you actually trying to argue that the title of this post is correct?

The fictional "Joey McGuzzles" has nothing to do with the Irish.

I was a Chem major and struggled mightily with P-Chem...too much Gibbs Free Energy...

Having a degree from a "prestigious" school does not necessarily guarantee that the person is bright. I would wonder graduating from BU cum laude, how could she not land a job other than bartender after graduating? She strikes me more of an opportunist.

Experience matters and time will tell if she can be an effective politician.

This is why I pay no attention to who goes to what college and what their grades were especially when so-called minority status set-asides are in play. By the way, Fidel and Ho Chi Min graduated withe excellent grades and look at the damage they did to humanity. They learned nothing.

AOC is a dummy with no business accomplishments. Who gives a rats ass about BU or get grades.

The title is hyperbole, obviously. You said that Cortez was "probably a lot smarter" than one of the posters, simply because she went to BU and graduated cum laude in Economics. I was disagreeing with you, and making an example. Do I really have to read back the transcript of your own discussion? Were you accepted to BU?

The fictional "Joey McGuzzles" has nothing to do with the Irish.

Nothing, except a surname with "Mc," a reference to being at a bar and, ostensibly, unable to match wits with this Congresswoman you defend endlessly.

The first person I ever fired graduated with high honors from Harvard and also had a masters degree from Harvard. He truly believed that because of those credentials he did not have to do the work that was assigned to him because he thought it was below him. He took the job and knew what it entailed and then he proceeded to tell everyone that he had his undergrad and masters from Harvard and graduated suma cum laude. He was the dumbest guy I may have ever met... but he went to Harvard...

Citing people's education is just a small part of the equation in the real world. Actually looking at their accomplishments and work ethic is a whole different topic.

Nothing, except a surname with "Mc," a reference to being at a bar and, ostensibly, unable to match wits with this Congresswoman you defend endlessly.

"Donnie McSmartyPants has to list his education credentials in the same thread in which he stated education credentials mean nothing." Adding Mc when being sarcastic is a habit of mine and has nothing to do with the Irish. I'm Irish. Don't be so quick to find offense. Also, I stated in my original post on this thread I don't even like AOC. Your reading comprehension is severely lacking, Donnie McSmartyPants.

We'll never know the exact answer on whether the original poster is dumber than AOC. The fact he posted an unnecessarily inflammatory thread - with the only evidence to claim his point being a transcript from an Instagram live feed - is strong evidence to prove my point. Your evidence, that college achievement means nothing, is total crap.

I never said anything like that. The point was that just because someone went to a school with a stellar reputation doesn't necessarily mean they are "smart," or smarter than someone who went to a school that is less celebrated. Look at George W. Bush.

Yeah. My bad, I just want to say my postings here can be too confrontational and aggressive sometimes and I'm embarrassed by it. Drank too much coffee this morning and still miffed about the loss last night. I think I should step back on these posts until I can be more reasonable. Your a good dude Donnie and fun to debate with :).

I have to say it's getting scary who has been elected recently. I'm OK if a true liberal is elected by the electorate. But a dumb ass liberal or one that has really crazy leanings? It's happening far too often now. Look at AOC, the congresswoman from Minnesota who is an outward anti-semite and the total dumb ass Andy Kim from the jersey shore area. That guy is a real beaut and as dumb as a rock.

On the Repub side I cannot believe when folks that have white supremacist leanings get elected too. The far right and far left candidates that are getting elected tells me our current electorate is as clueless as ever and it's getting scarier by the day. It's very concerning that people go to a polling location and vote for these folks not knowing anything about them. More concerning that people elect them that do.

It doesn't help that the MSM loves to play to the extremes because it's good for ratings ($$$). The more outrageous stuff you say, the more attention that you get and it snowballs on social media. Probably the most disturbing issue is why the party leadership doesn't come down harder on the Steve King's and Ilhan Omar's for their behavior...

You mean like that lie that Trump is cutting Medicare???

How can you have a post complaining about the craziness on both sides and then say something like that? You're buying into the nonsense from right sided media while complaining that others buy into the same things.

The reason this all started was because of the bill in the senate giving states the right to punish companies who boycott Israel. That is absurd and most likely unconstitutional.

Glenn Greenwald posted on twitter that it was stunning how much time US political leaders spend defending a foreign nation even if it means attacking the free speech of Americans.

She responded to that by saying "It's all about the Benjamins" - and she is absolutely correct. Lobbyists got politicians to draft and sponsor a bill that violates free speech. The influence all lobbies have is crazy. We should all be against that level of influence and that doesn't make me anti-semetic.

You can absolutely against our foreign policy with Israel (or any country) and it doesn't mean you hate Jews.

She has had multiple passive aggressive comments about Israel and Jews. Why did she apologize then on multiple occasions? If you can't see that her comments are anti-Semitic or at least borderline anti-Semitic... You say I believe in the right sided news - how do you even know I read right sided news? Hell I watch CBS every morning - is that right wing? I try to look at various outlets but don't listen to Rush or CNBC or anything on the far right or left. Maybe instead of ASSuming which can be very offensive, you should temper your comments and stick to your arguments.

No she hasn't. She has had comments against Israel and our relationship with them... not Jews.

f you can't see that her comments are anti-Semitic or at least borderline anti-Semitic you are truly not worth talking to anymore.

People who disagree with you aren't worth talking to?
Her recent comments were not anti-Semitic. The one that is borderline is that Israel has hypnotized people from 2012 but that tweet was literally in the middle of a war in Gaza. She is allowed to have an opinion on the fight and shares one with many Americans. That doesn't mean they hate Jewish people. Several people on this board have complained about how much aid we provide to Israel every year. That doesn't make them anti-Semitic either.

You say I believe in the right sided news - how do you even know I read right sided news?

Because that is where the idea that she is anti-Semitic is coming from.

It's one thing to write a response, it's quite another to make assumptions about others. I'm done with your labels...

I didn't label you anything. I did assume you watch, listen to or read some form of right wing media because that is where this story has traction. If you honestly believe that she is anti-semitic because of something you saw on CBS then I apologize.

So multiple congress people/Senators (Dems and Repubs covered by the major news stations by the way) who said her comments were anti semitic don't matter only right wing news is the source????? The first draft of the bill they wrote had the words anti-semitic in it and then they changed it to cover multiple religions. Every major station covered the story not just right wing news...

Or that refunds are lower this year under the new tax law. That has now changed too because it was so early in tax season when the MSM was trumpeting that lie too.

Yes, every major station covered it... but you wouldn't walk away with the impression that she was an "outward anti-semite" from most of the coverage.

That's not a lie. Most refunds will be lower because people had less withheld compared to prior years. The IRS said about a quarter of people who normally get a refund won't get one at all this year.

The average may end up being up or down, but that is going to be because of the decrease for wealthier individuals.

Calling out Fox, and covering for politicians. She’s an anti-Semite, everyone sees it but you.

Lol. I'm covering for her because context matters?

What I want are honest politicians willing to stand up against any lobby.
Why are politicians suporting a bill that violates 1st amendment rights? Why are you glossing over that?

That would normally get the attention of you right leaning folk. That bill was absurd and somehow we have twisted it to a politician being anti-Semitic because she believes the AIPCA has too much political influence?

You said recently that a big issue for you was campaign finance reform, but a politician calling out thd inflhence they have makes her hate Jews?

If she were not Muslim, this wouldn't have been an issue. It was really not that much diffferent than Trump saying Jewish voters dont like him cause he doesnt need their money.

You should never use the words honest politicians in the same sentence. Meet the Press opened up their segment last weekend with a story on Dems at odds with each other and a Dem Congressman talking about her making Anti Semitic comments. That was the leading piece in the first 30 seconds of Meet the Press on NBC. Not sure what version of reality you are not getting on this topic????

It’s a complete lie because it was grabbed by all the major stations way before the tax season was in full swing way before most of the data was even in. It was way too early in the tax season. A huge proportion of tax returns aren’t even filed yet.

Not sure what version of real

The one where I am not letting the news influence my opinion. The reaction to her saying it was all about the benjamins was way over the top. It was clearly not meant to be anti-Semitic.

It was based off reporting from the IRS comparing returns to returns filed in the same time period last year... It wasnt comparing 2 weeks to tge entire tax season of 2017.

The IRS has also said they expect the number of returns getting a refund to be down. The reporting there was not a lie.

I said a month back that I did think it was a misleading way to present the story since they were not discussing that people were paying less taxes overall, but most coverage I have seen more recently covered that.

See 112's post...

What you are glossing over is the fact that she was right. Unless you are supportive of a bill in the senate allowing penalties against companies for free speech.

Why is it ok to penalize US companies who protest another country?

Not glossing over anything. She has said multiple things and been admonished by her own party. She is what she is.

On one hand you said I was influenced by the right sided news and implied that is what drove my opinion? All of the major news stations reported this story and used the words anti-semitic many, many times. Then you say you are not letting the news influence your opinion but you accuse me of being influenced by the right sided news??? WTH?

You waffle between two different narratives to suit your own perception of things especially of yourself. Section 112 must listen to Rush Limbaugh or Hannity and chooses that narrative because he is influenced by right sided news and you Merge are fair minded who can look at any situation and not be influenced? Can you see how judgmental and jaded you are coming across in this ridiculous string? I used to respect your opinion but after you judging me and implying I can't make up my own mind and then adding you can because you are not influenced by the news like everyone else is. Dude you are all wet on this one. Professor McGlone at SHU who used to run the Group Discussion course would have been all over you for intense waffling. Your new name is IHOP because you sir are the king waffler.

As if politicians were always honest...

It was damage control. Republicans were trying to make this a wedge issue to pick up more Jewish support and democrats needed to come out against Omar to stop the bleeding.
