The BE is not losing many seniors this year other than SJU so it should be equally strong next year. Marq, Creighton and SHU figure to be better. DePaul will hopefully pick a good coach. We are very well positioned. Willard better figure it out next year.

The Big East has to continue to get 6-7 teams a year into the NCAA's. I really do not see that as a problem. Had we not totally crapped the bed the Big East would have had 7 teams in this year. We have the talent, we just need to upgrade our OOC schedule and stay away from the drama. Anything less than an NCAA bid for the Pirates is unacceptable. Seton Hall should never be aiming to become the second coming of Rutgers, that's just beyond embarrassing.

The key to the BE's future success will be how well it recruits especially if they get the top 100 and top 150 rated players .

6-7 is not sustainable but 5-6 is which would make the BE one ofvthectop 2-3 conferences.

Seton Hall MUST consistently be one of those 5-6 teams!

Every 3-5 years it would be nice for the Big East to have 7 teams in; 5-6 teams should be the norm.

Agree about recruiting, critical.

BE needs to get a bunch of top100-150 players and more than a handful of top 25's to stay with the elite.

Today is important for the league. We should advance at least two teams into the Sweet 16 - Villanova and Xavier (which gets help with its matchup). Butler and Georgetown are both underdogs with chances. It would be very, very good if we could get three teams into the Sweet 16.

We also need better ratings out of FS1. The AAC had better ratings than the BET. Aside from TV revenue, that's very important to recruiting top players.

The league will get there, but there are challenges ahead.

The "new" Big East is a fantastic league. It's just going to take some time to shift the perception (and eyeballs on TV) of college basketball fans and pundits.

You do that by consistently putting teams deep into the NCAA Tournament. Yes, the emergence of ESPN was a force for the original Big East in the 1980's, but what did those teams do? They went deep in the Tournament and drove the national appeal. That may be unfair because fans who follow the sport all year know how good the league was this year, but perception is reality.

None of the 4 teams that earned berths last year advanced past the first weekend (Villanova, Creighton, Providence, Xavier). That was really bad.

This year if we don't get at least 2 it'll be a disappointment. Villanova and Xavier should be heavy favorites. I like Georgetown to be there too, but that's a pick 'em type of game, IMO. And if Butler could ever knock off Notre Dame, then we'll get some juice.
