HILLARY- Godforbid!

No one ever challenged my right to vote. I show up the last 40 years and sign in and vote. No one says boo.

Voter fraud is not a big problem (there donnie I said it again) and all of us know it has nothing to do with the genesis of this proposal. I object to the intent of this law. And the lack of thought given to the logistics of getting a card. "Learn to drive a car and you can vote" how f'ing idiot is that

A drivers licence is the wrong vehicle. It is no different than asking me to show my gun permit to vote.

We want voters to require an ID . Make a national ID card. Give it some thought. That I do not object to.
Isn't that what I basically said??? lol

On my post above, after I wrote it I saw your and Merge's posts and I was gonna make a comment that even we three can agree on this. Yes, you and I agree on the remedy. I am not sold that it is needed or useful, but if we want a national ID, think about ramifications, make a fair plan, and implement it over time.

But I have a huge problem with people who think the purpose of this legislation is not to repress the vote.

Set a date. Day after 2016 presidential election for instance. Automatically register every US citizen with a known address who are over 18 and/or when they turn 18. Send them an government issued national voter ID card in a certified package. If someone moves to a different city, town, county, state, etc, make the card, the re-registration/change of address of the card available at post offices, town city county municipal buildings, DMVs, schools, municipal courts, town city county library's and historical societies. Allow home bound/elderly/anyone to schedule an "in home" re-registration etc of the card by a county elections commission. Then give a deadline. By 2020 presidential election the national voter ID must be used. Also make presidential election days a federal holiday so everyone who wants to vote can vote. There you go.

Although how to we ensure that absentee ballots are being used by the intended voters? Voter ID cards won't matter at all for those who mail in their ballots. So do we ban absentee ballots??? Hmm. I guess an ID card can never ensure no voter fraud........,

Well I guess we could then just BAN absentee ballots, right?

The government could set up polling precincts at US military, naval, etc bases as well as us embassies and the like. The government could also create a sign up list for all home bound people etc to get a government car service to bring them to and from voting precincts. As well as allowing pre determined early voting days on weekends (souls to the polls).

If the government wants to go the Voter ID route it can only go all the way.

Wonder how Governor McRory would approve of this type of voting?

A decent idea but there really is no need for that. It adds another layer of government and a lot of added costs for something that should be simple. I am with you on automatically registering every non-felon, legal US citizen once they turn 18. This can be done for relatively low cost without the need for bureaucracy and paperwork. You shouldn't have to "register" to vote when it is your right to vote in this country.

My stance on this is simple: Automatically register every legal, non-felon US citizen when they turn 18. When you go to the polls, all you need to do is show some form of ID to prove it is actually you signing your name and voting. The ID should not be a government controlled voting ID system but any form of ID readily available in this country, such as a driver's license, employee ID, passport, school ID, etc.

IMHO, The government should not be able to limit a constitutional right while telling the citizens to find the correct criteria. The government must provide it. Otherwise it is unconstitutional.

That is a tax on those who have no need for any of those forms of ID's.

A voter ID card should be free.

Automatic registration won't pass because republicans don't want to make voting easier... See Chris Christie's veto this week.

Again, this issue is not that hard to fix but politicians are trying to win elections... Not prevent voter fraud.

LOL, say it all you want. You've got 20 years on me, and I'm more jaded. You were bullish on the basketball team last season, though, so hats off to you!

I agree that the driver's license is not the way to go. I just renewed mine, and, if someone doesn't have a DL, they probably don't have most of the forms of ID required to get one.

This debate is funny, because everyone weighing in probably votes. Most of the people that these laws would effect don't care enough to get themselves to the polls, and that is fact, not editorializing.

Me and my 2nd Amendment advocates dutifully agree, thanks for joining us.

I repeat and I remind all and stick with my original title Hillary GODFORBID! For many obvious and proven reasons!

I've been saying that since Obama got re-elected, and talk of Hillary's "turn" in 2016 started. However, Trump as President is a YUGE "God forbid." Hillary, still a repulsive snake with bad hair, is going to win. It's a shame that the electorate couldn't have given us Kasich, who would be leading by 10 points right now.

With Hillary, the fallout from her presidency is more predictable. and in my opinion it's all bad. She is sooo despicable and her husband too. So much baggage and smoke..... cough.... cough. I think she's starting to choke on the smoke, too.

With Trump at least there's a chance that he will deliver on some of his promises and in an acceptable way. I like that he's reaching out to African Americans.. I like that he his reaching out to Mexico by accepting the invitation to meet with their president..... those are all positive things for his candidacy. I was a tepid supporter before (given the alternative) but was sure I would vote for him. In my mind his recent changes in tone and overall conduct of his campaign have given me a more reason to pull the lever for him instead of just against Clinton. I think this message will resonate with others as well.

I wouldn't count him out just yet.

I have the opportunity to interact with a lot of people in the Lehigh Valley community every day. Hospital presidents, business owners, politicians, attorneys, etc. Obviously the election comes up...There is a lot of absolutely No-Hillary feeling. Eye-rolling for Trump, but the consensus seems to be that you can't elect someone (Clinton) who puts themselves above the law. The sum of the email scandal, Bengazi, DNC, etc. seems to be piling up and even though none have delivered a knock-out punch, it's not fooling anyone. I'm just not hearing Johnson get any traction which is disappointing. This kind of runs in the face of Trumps so-called appeal to uneducated White demo.

Let's face it, both are highly unfavorable but Trump is the only one of the two that can actually reverse it...Will he? Who knows...but sadly I think it will be a close race and we are faced with two bad options.

It's very sad that the Dems and Repubs basically own us and the process. Ralph Nader said its a closed corporation and he is correct. Third party candidates should be viable and part of the discussion but sadly they are not unless they are multi billionaires who have the money not to fall prey to special interests. If our electorate really truly cared they would not allow this to continue let alone reelecting such aholes as D Wasserman etc (on both sides of the aisle) each year.

I was wondering if Johnson's lack of traction would weaken your resolve. The answer is you are still voting for Johnson. Thanks for confirming.

I vote my concious, rather than what others might do. It is interesting though to just really listen to people's opinions rather than what the press is telling us.
