I think there are 2 things democrats can agree on when it comes to this issue. They want to end police brutality and they do not like Donald Trump. Every time players in the NFL don't stand with their hand over their heart for the national anthem, they are giving Trump a fastball thigh high, right down the middle of the plate that he clobbers out of the park and his base applauds and gets louder and stronger. Why do they keep giving him ammunition that plays well for him? It's the dumbest thing.

Yup...see my post on Page 4. It's pretty easy to figure Trump out, but people can't help themselves. What's the definition of insanity...doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result...

Why some Democrat doesn't step up and say this is ridiculous. It just goes to show either no one can think for themselves or they all have to toe the company line. Instead now they go after Melania Trump for what? Jimmy Kimmel went after he accent. Is he going to go after the accent of all the immigrants he wants coming in the country? I guess it's cool to make fun of republicans, but once you do that to a democrat, they'll get 50 organizations on your ass and label you in 100 different ways.

On a somewhat lighter but relative side.....I am on the board of a professional theater. We do Shakespeare, classic dramas, and, musicals.

This year's musical is the Tony Award winning Ragtime. It was picked by us to do this year partly because of issues like the one we are discussing (arguing, lol)

For those unfamiliar, it is a early 20th century story about three groups, Upper Class Urban White, African American, and Eastern European.

We have some fine Broadway and film talent performing in the production. Not to far from Jersey and much less that Broadway prices and no tunnel!

I agree with you. Their protest helps Trump, but I also don't think I can tell people how they should protest.

No but shouldn't someone from the democratic party say something. Or are they too scared to lose the vote of those protesting if they say something? These protestors are so set on doing their protests during the anthem to show Trump that he can't stop them that they can't see it's the best thing for Trump and his re-election.

If you believe someone has the right to protest, then you don't tell them to stop because you fear the optics politically.

Just how I see it.

1 - If I try to protest while I'm working my boss has the right to tell me to knock it off while in the workplace. The NFL owners have that same right. It is their place of business.
2 - How many of these NFL players have done anything to help the cause during the off season? I have seen very few.

I don't think anyone is saying stop protesting, but the timing of the protest plays into the hands of the guy you are trying to get rid of. Can you imagine if NFL Network did something every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday nights all season long with players protesting police brutality for 2-4 hours. Everyone and their mothers would support that. But they choose to do it for the 60 seconds that will piss people off. Common sense that hurts the chances for dialogue. If you're upset about something the way you resolve it is not by pissing off others. It's coming to the table and talking about it. This doesn't do it.

1. Correct. The NFL can direct their policy as they please. A politician should not.

2. Many of them have.

Again, I'm not really interested in a debate about efficacy.
It is not my protest.

but they are coming to the table. Their "movement" (if it's correct to call it that) is still in its infancy. They developed the players coalition to work together and find solutions.

You're the one who posted it....how "many"?

Who knows. Not all of it is reported all over the place. More than "very few" but less than all of them. - Somewhere in between there.
but I follow Malcom Jenkins on twitter who posts and reposts stuff they are doing fairly frequently. Jenkins has said he is working with about 60 current and former players who have been active and getting involved in local communities and the DA races.

Outside of that, I haven't seen it really reported anywhere which is what made me ask Matt if he had looked into it.

60, to me sounds like "many".
