So the President of the Board of Regents and Board of Trustees, Cardinal Joseph Tobin is launching an investigation into how he and his board did or did not follow the recommendations of the last investigation as pertains to Reilly.

1) In 2019 we hire law firm Lathan & Watkins to investigate the McCarrick situation and make recommendations.

2) Then, we hire the Gibbons Law Firm to prepare a Responsive Action Plan based on the above investigation.

3) Now, we are hiring law firm Ropes & Gray to investigate the process related to the above 2 law firms. Tobin says, "The review by Ropes & Gray will include how the findings of these reports relate to Monsignor Joseph Reilly, including whether they were communicated to any and all appropriate personnel at the Archdiocese and Seton Hall University and Monsignor Reilly, and if so, by what means and by whom."

This will just delay the inevitable. You can’t play the four corners offense and hope people forget about it.

Exactly. The delaying of the inevitable was made necessary by being able to adequately explain why they hired Msgr. Reilly in spite of the prior reports.
