Every time I think about the replica sweater Thompson made I can't help but laugh.A wonderful man who brought great joy as one of the original Big East coaches.
I loved his ongoing teasing with John Thompson. May his memory as one of the good guys last for a long, long time.
A truly great man. He was genuine. Friday nights in the 90’s I made my young boys watch the Lou Carnesecca show on MSG. They loved it. In 1983 I had just finished my MBA, and I was having a hard time finding a good job in a bad economy. I was making ends meet working the ticket counter for New York Air in Savannah, GA. The Big East had their meeting in Hilton Head, and he was flying home from Savannah. I got to check him in, and when I told him I was an SHU alum, he started firing off one funny story after another. He wanted to know if I was following how Nick Gallis was lighting it up in Greece. That was something that lifted my spirits for a long time.

He sat next to me in Walsh when I was a freshman scouting Seton Hall. Was alone in a windbreaker. Wanted to blend into the crowd. I knew who he was. He started talking to me. What a nice guy and was very complimentary of SHU. He stayed for about 30 minutes and then left and said it was nice talking to you on his way out. Nice regular guy that did a lot for the sport. May he RIP.Had the pleasure of meeting him in Walsh during RAF’s & Hoddy’s tenure. Pure class! May he RIP.
