You reap what you sow. Seton Hall's satanic WSOU programming is an ongoing scandal that has done more harm to the reputation of our Catholic school than you can imagine.
You’ve got to be kidding! If you don’t like the music, change the station! No one is forcing you to listen!

what harm has it done?

on the flip side it gives seton hall one of its very few national rankings (radio) and creates on campus jobs which help start careers (of some on this very board). awards and jobs.

so what harm do you say it does?

In fairness, there were mistakes made in the past but procedures have been strengthened. Correcting past mistakes is the hallmark of a healthy institution. I agree that no anti-Christian music should be played but this protest seems to be about drawing attention to the group rather than righting a wrong.

The music is still really evil. It's time for it to go. I cannot tell you how many Catholics are outraged about this. The school has been tone deaf.

This is the radio station of a Catholic institution. You probably don't understand what's in this music. The genre is incompatible with not just Christian morals but even secular values. A radio station is a very public thing.

How you feel about the arab caravan sunday show?

They dont need you to listen, flip the station
The same can be said for the people looking to cancel Gone with the Wind, Dr. Suess, Fox News, certain actors, actresses, musician, etc. This is cancel culture. Learn to love it, it's the world we currently live in. Pretty soon we'll all be eating grass and only be allowed to use sentences like Equality equalizes equity. The future is bright.

I havent posted this year but as this is Holy Week -- the time to pick up our cross -- I will say some things here:

1) The content of the music is extraordinarily evil and dangerous by any standard, Catholic or secular, Buddhist or Jewish, Muslim or Feminist.

2) I don't think people understand the nature of just how evil and dangerous. For those who are curious, I attach a 15 min video that explains in quite some detail. Please view it and then make up your own minds.

3) Compounding this is an extraordinary amount of lying by those in authority at Seton Hall and the Archdiocese. The attached video proves that beyond a measure of doubt. Even if one can't grasp the evil of the music, there is a real question as to why so much and such blatant lying is going on here.

4) This is in every way the legacy of the now laicized Theodore McCarrick (I would not criticize him if he weren't laicized.) Not hard to understand where the root of this lying and evil began.

5) People have no idea anymore of the severity of the consequences of violating the First Commandment.

Lastly, yes -- I will be there tomorrow, along with a few others.

I never listened to WSOU music. I'm just not a fan of it. I change the dial because I don't like it. However my question is why does the Archdiocese contribute money to the school. I honestly believe they shouldn't be supporting something that goes against their beliefs. I can't imagine there is anything that says they have to give money. The Archdiocese stopped funding Essex Catholic and one of the factors in closing the school was there were barely any Catholic students in the school. Why would they support an institution playing such music?

Did you watch the video? I'd more than happy to engage in a good faith discussion with you after you've watched it and provided some properly thought out commentary.
I been there and done that. So many songs in wsou playlists are redlined or radio edited. I was there in early 2000s. One thing that sticks with me to this day, it was the Friday after 9-11. So many calls came in from current members of NYPD and FDNY and military folks that were getting deployed in coming weeks. They were requesting songs from bands with lyrics that had deep meaning to them.

I am not much for screamo metal or a band like Otep but I was open minded to the genre.

Catholics and clergy have done more damage to their brand and reputation than WSOU ever.

They hold an FCC license, that is a powerful tool. Further, it is well known and understand it is better to have a standard format for most of the week, it is like a real radio station. CMJ just doesn't do special issues for any station, they did for WSOU.
