Read imm. Jerry needs questions for his podcast by noon today

I know I'm a few minutes late but...is it wrong to feel that, towards the goal of reaching an NCAA tournament, SHU won't play another game where the result matters before March 13th?

In other words, unless they win the BET, does it even matter how much better the team is in March? The path to an at-large worthy resume would require near perfection from here on out.

State of the Union After 3 Games

I'm afraid we'll look back in a number of years and realize the NIL is the demise of major college football and basketball. The sports are becoming mini professional leagues.I agree that eventually the conferences will need to be realigned on size of NIL budgets.Likely SHU will be in a Northeastern schools mid major type conference or back to pre Big East days.Won't be the end of the world.

State of the Union After 3 Games

These two losses are going to be very difficult to recover from. At least in prior years we looked bad in the OOC games but we won the games we were supposed to win. They all matter now and Sha doesn't seem to understand that or is unwilling to change.
It’s over early. Sha will have to pull off a Patrick Ewing led Georgetown miracle at The Garden in March.

Lack of Action causing downfall

It’s been stated before, and I will stated again. The downfall, and we are witnessing the downfall of a legendary basketball program, of Seton Hall basketball lies at the feet of Lyons.

His lack of vision or lack of willingness to be ahead of the curve like the rest of the universities, put us in a bad spot then and now there is no path to recovery. This will also lead to the departure of our coach in the next year or so.

Hopefully our new president has great visions for the university from academic perspective as the athletic program will no longer be the focal point

We can all talk about go support that NIL with bake sales and car washes and buy some bad beer and hang out at bunnies but I’ll leave that to the Boy Scouts for their fundraising.
What’s an athletic director supposed to do? Force 5 star players to come? This is same silly argument as the people saying Mara and Woody should sell the team. As if that will make any difference.

We aren’t able to compete in this environment. In fact, we are and so are others of our ilk on par with the lower level school for various reasons.

1 - lack of money ( it won’t change)
2 - lack of facilities ( it’s too late )

3 - the players we do get are plagued by the new age style of zero iq basketball and can only hoist 3s or barrel to the rim hoping for a foul. I think this is the biggest issue. There is very little diversity among today’s basketball players and it has severely leveled the field. Only true 5 stars are much different

Lack of Action causing downfall

SHU has always been ridiculously behind most everyone important in college hoops. If anyone thinks our NIL would be at the top or in the middle if we were more aggressive I think they are, if not nuts, then at least wrong. It is not only the admin. It is us. What PJ stepped into was third world. KW practiced in he basement. But the rules helped us keep the rosters steady and some of the coaches were very effective. We have had some great runs. The successes we have had, when compared to my expectations based on my college years, are remarkable.

If someone said ten years ago that based on the money they generate, college players deserve an extra 75K a year along with their scholarship, this board would have been up in arms. But that never happened, and now NIL/pfp/pos is the law of the land, and it is never going to be our friend. Hard for me to see us surviving that paired with free agency.

I was for eliminating the sit out year. I was for paying the players some money. But I was never in favor of the bullshit that has become the rule of the land.

Game, set, match!

I don't know. I guess either go with one of the putative PGs and give them the ball / have them direct the offense (not just another positionless guard on the court) or see how Chaunce does as lead guard.
That said, I get the feeling Sha may view DAW as his only ride or die guy. And if so, feels like he's untouchable and hard to see him not starting regardless of whoever the other four are.

Don't over think it - we have no PG

Think about how bad it must be to come up with these rankings over 3 games against the opponents we’ve played:

2PT = 341st
FT % = 331st (and 47th in rate so important component)
Turnover % = 318th
Possession Time = 336th

So we’re slow, highly turnover prone, and can’t make high-percentage shots. Well yeah, look how we play. It looks like a Royal Rumble in the paint.

Don't over think it - we have no PG

Right now the majority of the game has the ball in the hands of players who don’t know how to initiate the offense. Assuming we’re calling plays on every possession. Idk what the philosophy is but there’s nothing purposeful. It looks like we’re simply spreading the floor to create a driving lane, but nobody drives them? Guys get the ball on the elbow and get stuck with the shot clock winding down.

And the amount of mindless turnovers occurring at the top of the arc because of this is ridiculous. I think the Sanders 3 to put them up 4 with about 1:30 left came from exactly one of those situations where Jenkins turned it over trying to find an outlet.
