South Orange, N.J. - The No. 15 ranked Seton Hall men's soccer looks to claim its first win in BIG EAST play when Marquette visits Owen T. Carroll Field on Friday. Game time is scheduled for 6:56 p.m.

This is the 19th all-time meeting between the two teams, the most recent of which being a 3-2 Seton Hall win at Valley Fields in 2022.

SCOUTING MARQUETTE
  • Marquette is 6-3-1 on the season with a 2-0-0 record in the BIG EAST.
  • Two of the Golden Eagles' three losses came against ranked opponents.
    • A 2-1 defeat at No. 22 Wisconsin on September 2.
    • A 1-0 loss at the hands of No. 9 Northwestern on September 9.
  • Their leading scorer is junior midfielder Mitar Mitrović. Mitar, the son of USMNT U-23 Head Coach Marko Mitrović, has tallied five goals and one assist this season.
  • Marquette's goalkeeper Marten Brink has started nine of the team's ten games. He has allowed eight goals, registered 37 saves and faced 106 shots this season.
SERIES HISTORY
  • Seton Hall and Marquette last met on October 12, 2022, in what would be a back-and-forth match. The first half opened with Marquette's Edrey Caceres scoring first in the 8th minute from the top of the box. However, The Hall's Mattias Almeida Sundell responded in the 28th minute, securing a 1-1 scoreline heading into halftime. In the second half, Paavo Riihjarvi put the Pirates back in front with a 56th minute goal off of a Johannes Pex assist. The Golden Eagles went on to level the match in the 64th minute, but a 74th minute goal from Quenzi Huerman secured a 3-2 victory for the Pirates.
  • This is the 19th matchup between the two programs, the first of which came in 2005.
  • Seton Hall is 8-7-3 all-time against Marquette with a 4-1-0 record in their last five meetings.
PIRATES FIGHT TO SCORELESS DRAW AGAINST NO. 24 UCONN
  • On Saturday, Seton Hall traveled to Storrs, Connecticut, to face No. 24 UConn in the Pirates' second game of BIG EAST play. The Pirates drew the match 0-0.
  • Seton Hall goalkeeper Matias Molina registered his third clean sheet of the season.
  • The Pirates registered their fifth shutout of the season.
  • The Hall had 10 total shots, compared to four for the Huskies.
  • The Pirates registered 11 corner kicks, compared to three for the Huskies.
  • Seton Hall is now 16-15-5 all-time against UConn.

  • Seton Hall is ranked No. 15 in the nation in the Oct. 1 United Soccer Coaches top-25, holding their ranking from the prior week.
  • In Head Coach Andreas Lindberg's tenure, Seton Hall appeared in the United Soccer Coaches top-25 seven times during the 2020 season, reaching as high as No. 6. Then Seton Hall spent four weeks in the national rankings during 2021.
  • The Pirates are one of two BIG EAST teams in the current top-25, the other being No. 21 Providence.
GUSKE CLAIMS BIG EAST WEEKLY AWARD
  • After playing a key role on a Pirate backline that held both opponents scoreless last week, junior Liam Guske (St. John's, Fla.) earned this week's BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week award.
  • Guske is the seventh Seton Hall men's soccer member to be honored by the conference this season.

You’ve got about 15 posts of 400 mass shootings. Isn’t that the number you want to get down? Assault rifle ban won’t stop that or even lower it. That’s why you’re deflecting and switching topics. The bigger concern should be getting that number down to low double digits or single digits. Waiting to hear how banning assault rifles will do that. You're looking to address how they're doing as opposed to why they're doing it. They'll always find another how to do it if you don't stop why they do it. If you stop why they do it, we can get somewhere.
