Way too negative . It will be near impossible to get 4/5 star recruits put even before NIL we only got very few of them anyway and still were very competitive . Today we have to use our NIL money wisely with 3 star recruits , foreign players and transfers . So the important thing is that we must continue our NIL efforts both large and small to compete. GO PIRATES !!!!!i think the hats and watches are a great idea. and extremely commendable from all the people/fans who are trying all of these NIL efforts. its really honorable.
i just dont think any effort, no matter how amazing will move the needle. too little too late for seton hall.
teams who are going after mass volume small fish are doing so because it's the only thing left to get an edge over the rest of the field. they all have big donors and the little doners move them the extra 10% needed to get the advantage. and the large schools with big populations can scale their fanbase when its still just a fixed amount of players on the team.
its sad but as it stands now seton hall is a thing of the past. its great weve even made it the past two years but how do you scale this every single year?? thats a lot of watches
This is all well and good but Portland, Pepperdine, Loyola Marymount et al will now toil in total obscurity as their media rights value just flatlined.Yes, but at least now there is a reasonable competitive balance. It’s like having Jay Wright Villanova compete in the MAAC. It doesn’t make sense. It’s not fun for anyone - fans, players, coaches, etc.
i think the hats and watches are a great idea. and extremely commendable from all the people/fans who are trying all of these NIL efforts. its really honorable. This is all just terrible execution. The best part of University day was taking your families to see the team scrimmage shake their hands and have them sign autographs. I have done this as a kid and would have loved to have done this for my children. There's no reason we couldn't have charged $25 for this inside the gym for University day. Taking the biggest draw to our school off campus on University day takes away from the University and it reeks of greed and stupidity.
We should be focused on smaller donations but larger get-togethers. $25 to $100 to support the team, especially during this period of high inflation. I don't mind buying a nice $100 hat but waiting 6 months for it is poor execution also. The events have been too exclusive and the premium's too high. The best part about Seton Hall basketball is sharing it with your family. Not spending $500 so you can rub elbows with a boosters. (There is nothing wrong with that either, but our fanbase is too small to provide enough money from the elite boosters.).
Winning back to back natty’s doesn’t hurt!Dan is doing a great job reloading !!!
Me neither. And i have looked. It was a long time ago and he moved away. As i remember he said those copters would suck more sand into the engines.Never heard that. I believe they were Sea Stallion helicopters and for them to have been selected they would have to have been the recommendation of our combined military leaders. Their value was their capacity, long range and the fact that they launched from an aircraft carrier and would presumably return to one.
Well, here’s what Phil Gramm—former GOP congressman and senator— had to say in today’s WSJ. Guess they didn’t teach you history or economics at the Hall…A disingenuous and an accurate article. Even Democrats agree that Carter was not a good president so you can stop right there.
If you recall, the threat of SDI (Strategic Defense initiative, or Star Wars), forced Russia to back down and ultimately begin negotiating with the US on a nuclear disarmament plan. So yeah, he spent less money, but it was about the strategy not just building up arms, which was the problem.
Let’s just honor someone who showed dignity while President and class/giving back the rest of his life. Happy Birthday!
Try harder.
Mr. Carter’s presidency was brought to an end by inflation and the energy crisis, but it is hard to imagine any Democratic president, beholden to Democratic interest groups and constrained by a Democratic Congress, could have dealt with the problems the country faced in 1979 and 1980. When voters swept Reagan into office with the first Republican Senate in 26 years and a conservative bipartisan majority in the House, Jimmy Carter was a convenient scapegoat for those who refused to blame failed policies.
But more than four decades later Mr. Carter’s legacy of deregulation stands as one of the most transformative public policy reforms in our nation’s history, and he gets too little credit for making our country more competitive.
Yes, it was, although I don't remember the source or how incredible it was.Was it reported that they are getting a full share?
Hosted him for a day when he came home to East Orange for a John Amos Day in the late 70’s. Enjoyed the time with him.John Amos RIP
Also remember Buddy Harrelson and Pete getting into a fight at second base in the 1973 playoffs.I remember Pete:
Winning rookie of the year
Taking out fosse in the all star game
sweeping the yanks in 76 - tells us, look at these arms...I can reach that porch no problem (watched at least one of those games while a hurricane was blowing as I remember it)
Going after joe d's streak in 77
Big red machine dominating my dodgers
Helping the phils win it all
HOF player but i am glad mlb never caved
It is amazing how much leniency the gambling businesses get with ads. In the context of today, his punishment must seem silly to the younger fans. Can I bet on what gambling ad is the next one I will see?
Yes, but at least now there is a reasonable competitive balance. It’s like having Jay Wright Villanova compete in the MAAC. It doesn’t make sense. It’s not fun for anyone - fans, players, coaches, etc.The flip side to this is that the WCC just became the MAAC -- one good program (St. Mary's) and a number of schools that rotate through good seasons. The reason for the imbalanced revenue share was that Gonzaga was that important to the WCC's well being.
If St. Mary's goes as well, the WCC becomes a Northeast Conference type league.
The flip side to this is that the WCC just became the MAAC -- one good program (St. Mary's) and a number of schools that rotate through good seasons. The reason for the imbalanced revenue share was that Gonzaga was that important to the WCC's well being.Correct. They have no media deal in place - the $15M/team was just a reported estimate. But I was questioning your full share statement. Was it reported that they are getting a full share?
Their thought process might have been with Randy Bennett and Mark Few getting older they need to do something to level up now.
On a side note, if I were a coach/fan in the WCC I would be ecstatic about this news. I couldn't image how disheartening it would be competing in a one bid league (in most years) where you have no realistic shot to compete for a conference championship. Gonzaga did not match the athletic profiles of the WCC schools.
They want to desperately expand fan base ? Young kids is a great way to do it but what 10 year old is staying up past 11 to watch a game?I'm not, but certainly aware. How exactly is that relevant though? Should we play the world series at 9am so the elderly can feel nostalgic and still have time for the lunch buffet?
The point made was that growing the fan base and the sport and yet playing playoff games in the middle of the weekday afternoon are not congruent ideologies IMO.
Assuming he didn’t bet against his team is dubious at best considering it took him 15 years to even admit he bet on baseball. One of my favorite players of all-time.
While not crazy that he bet on baseball games, he NEVER bet against his team which is the bright line for me. All players should have to bet on their teams, ie, their salaries should be tied to winning.
He was a real ahole, no argument from me there though.
