Main points here to shut down thread.
1) -Delta variant will negatively impact US population more going forward, yes. I think it spreads more easily than the 2020 versions of covid-19. Every expert expects a surge in fall but will be enough to create more heavy handed restrictions, probably not.
2) -unvaccinated folks should be careful and masks up indoors whether there is a mandate/restrictions in their areas or not.
3) -leaders now less likely to create new mandates with rates low, even if they think rates and hospitalizations will grow a bit from where we are with unvaccinated and delta.
4)-since community spread in most places super low with high vaccination rates, I do not see politicians forcing more restrictions unless new data forces them to. I don’t predict anything more from Murphy in the September, maybe in Nov/Dec if things get out of hand though.
5) yes, vaccinated folks while much safer than unvaccinated can still get covid but much less likely and outcomes less severe or life threatening.
6) yes, those that had covid -19 in the past are less protected than those who have been vaccinated with 2 MRNA shots and so they still should still get vaccinated.
7) - Since 2 shots of MRNA still very effective in not dying, getting super sick, or sick at all, and still reduces spread combined that most folks got Pfizer or Moderna in US…the Delta variant is not super worrying for much of US population.
8) -Pandemic is still on globally, and in US for those not fully vaccinated especially not MRNA shots which are more effective.
9)- vaccines are good for society as a whole, do your part
10) whether new requirements, restrictions, mandates are starting in the fall, either way, unvaccinated should still take precautions and thank those of us who have been vaccinated to help you not get sick by reducing the spread.
