If you remember a few months back I mentioned people will not be willing to take the Covid vaccine and this will prevent the pandemic from ending. It looks like now we are heading toward this direction. Per monmouth poll 25% of americans will not take covid vaccine. If this is true. No end in sight for the pandemic. Unfortunately it looks like I will be right again.

Also- I got the Johnson jab 2 weeks ago. I discussed with my doctor and he told me he is still worried about the possible long term issues with the Pfizer/Moderna vaccines. My doctor only recommends the Johnson jab for his patients.

@Merge The CDC is now recommending mask wearing in all NJ counties. Will you now follow the science and wear a mask in indoor public places? What exactly is the benefit of getting the vaccine if you still have to mask up?

I don't have anything new other than what I have previously said there.
I have my view that I am not concerned with the spread unless we start to see large spikes in hospitalizations or it impacts children more than it has.
NJ being about 10% of our Covid peak on hospitalizations really doesn't change my view.
I am not panicking about children yet. I will be watching what happens in Florida to see what the data looks like in a few weeks.
@Merge @shu09 Interesting quote from the governor in this article. On student mask wearing he said, "We hope this is not a permanent step". Murphy is planting the seeds for permanent mask wearing. I warned the board about this before!

Do you mean @shu09's ally? The only time I brought up Gottlieb was when Gottlieb no longer fit 09's agenda.
Isn't Gottlieb the same guy that said the pandemic would be over in January 2021? I don't buy Delta is the last act. I think the endemic in the fall/winter will be the lamboda variant.
Also I recommend you to re read the article. Gottlieb said this could the final act assuming there won't be a variant that evades prior infection. Unfortunately I believe this will be the case considering how infectious Delta is.
I agree. Lambda will be the worst variant yet. My doctor friend told me late fall/early winter for Lambda.

The reason why hospitals are getting hit in a handful of states right now is because there are a lot of people who look like the people in that article and chose not to get vaccinated. They didn't understand/appreciate the risks.
You live in a state where the majority of people have been vaccinated so there is a good amount of community protection here and the risk to you personally is very low. You don't need to get vaccinated.
If @shu09 does not need to get the vaccine, why is the government masking kids in schools this fall and also will mandate vaccine passports in a few weeks? Most of the kids will have no symptoms or cold symptoms due covid. Why do they have to get vaccinated?
Why are you making assumptions for these people? I'm sure many of them understand the risks. They assume the risks. That's fine.
Vaccination does not eliminate transmission. If it did, the CDC wouldn't be recommending mask use now would it?
Like I said. I don't currently agree with masks in schools. That could change depending what happens in Florida.
