Dr. Fauci gives grim projection

SHU09 things going very well...

Btw, borgata cancelled their summer and sept poker tournament series, those are huge revenue boosters as top pros come in and stay for 2 weeks plus

There needed to be a very strict restrictive mandate federally for 8 to 12 weeks...unfortunately this is what happens when you leave it to individual states rights. And here you have idiot minded people like hall85 and shu09 that feel based on hospital bed vacancies we are good on a macro level. We are not good and far from. Transmission doesnt just migrate without human intervention. Bunch of college athletes are positive. Minor leaguers at two florida camps are positive. We should not be seeing this level of positives at this point if people truly masked and social distance.
I really hope mls, wnba, nba and nhl dont have to walk back on their plans for their bubble enviroment.
A boxer was to fight the other night and one of his cornerman tested covid positive and the boxer had to pull out.
Need mass distro of covid plus/negative and antibody tests.
This is just so crippling and instead of having an accepting point of view for the time block this has been we have thinking people that feel this shattered the economy because people are not working. Money dictates so much here how about a vision for health and wellness on macro level. When we have that then all can be back at work or at least trying new careers because businesses large and small had no contigency for a quarter year ongoing health disaster.

Totally agree. People like @HALL85 and @shu09 just don't get it! We are still very early on in pandemic. And we will continue shattering our economy by opening up. Because i in another 3 months or so the NJ economy will be on complete lockdown again because of the people that did not stay home/social distance/wear masks. It looks like people on this board are starting to realize that I have been right about this virus and will continue to be. If you don't want to listen its fine!

Listen Snowflake, millions of people will get the virus as millions get the common cold and flu. 99% of those people will not require a hospital visit. If your heros Cuomo and Murphy didnt send the virus into nursing homes the death toll could be half. How are hospital bed vacancies not an important factor in how we are doing? College athleetes will be fine, pro athletes will be fine. We should be figuring out how to protect football players from concussions not corona pansy. You're an embarrassment to the Seton Hall education.

@kniespolice Huh? That tell that to the family members of 12,800+ people in this state that lost loved ones to this virus. Calling someone a "Corona pansy?

Maybe you can't read? Although you love to tout your fake press clippings. Your hero Cuomo and Murphy caused half of those deaths by sending corona positive patients into nursing homes where people are in poor health. Acting like 18-22 year olds in the best physical condition are in grave danger from Corona is being a pansy.

Also you and your boy get off on every player that tests positive, when they will be fine. They're far likelier to suffer a career ending injury than suffer consequences from Corona.

Don't you realize these players can be spreading this virus to vulnerable people? You don't get the big picture.

Isn’t that the responsibility of vulnerable people to put themselves in positions where they are not vulnerable?

I get why that is the political spin, but let's be honest about that situation.

Studies have shown you are most contagious right before you develop any symptoms. Murphy and Cuomo did not introduce the virus to these facilities. It was already there and spreading and was likely introduced by the staff that worked there.

Where we failed was early detection, and isolating cases before symptoms started. We were only testing those with symptoms.

How are hospital bed vacancies not an important factor in how we are doing?

That I agree with.
The shutdowns were about our health are system. They worked, but that doesn't mean we are in the clear to go back to normal. We still need to take precautions to keep the spread low.

Fake press clippings? What are you you talking about? My article is online. Like I said I don't share the link with people that make fun of me. So I won't share the article on here

So will you be leading the charge to end fast food restaurants, eliminate Coca Cola, Pepsi, etc? Until you do, don't talk about health and wellness.

That is a choice, evil side of the spectrum, which you should know about with being with the sect culture here. Maybe you need to have a wheatgrass shooter.

PGA pro positive, had to withdraw from RBC.

@HALL85 Since Dr.Osterholm is now the voice of reason, are you in agreement with his latest take on a Vaccine. Osterholm said we are still a few years from a legitimate vaccine. The virus will linger and we will need to social distance and wear masks until then.

Reading comprehension is not your strong suit. I said earlier that he is an expert and one of several experts I pay attention to. Do you think all experts agree 100%? Personally, I don’t think we will see a vaccine that will be in full production for another year. You are talking about hundreds of millions of doses once it is proven to be safe and efficacious.

As I also said, there are treatments in clinical trials right now that will help to reduce hospital stays and mortality rates for those that do become hospitalized. The FDA currently is evaluating building a stockpile of a half million doses of convalescent plasma by October. Imagine if everyone who was hospitalized receives an immediate transfusion. That will have a major impact. And that’s just one therapy.

Stop reading the MSM headlines and do some real research. You’ll be pleasantly surprised what are scientific community is doing.

Again I will take the high road. I do read studies. Treatments still don't do anything regarding the spread. We will be social distancing and wearing masks for the next few years if you like it or not. No college basketball next season or probably 2021-2022 as well.

Simple question. Do you agree with Dr. Osterholm about his take on a vaccine? Its a yes or no answer.

I don’t agree with that. I think we will see a vaccine by the first of the year but it will not be readily available to everyone.

Hi @HALL85 @shu09 @kniespolice as the great governor of Florida has pointed out. More people in their 20's and 30"s are now coming down with the Coronavirus. I thought young people weren't getting the Coronavirus? Also Florida numbers are going up up up. I thought the pro open up crowd were saying that Coronavirus cases would continue to go down after opening up. That's just not the case. I have beem surprisingly right about everything going on with this virus. But you don't have to listen to me!

Hello Bubble Boy.

Nobody ever said people in their 20s and 30s wouldn't get Corona. I believe people said it wouldn't be a serious affliction. What is the death rate for people in their 20s and 30s?

What is the positive rate? I don't care about number of cases I want to know what percent of tests are positive. Simple math, even for a village idiot, says the more you test the more cases are found.

Hi @kniespolice. @shu09 has mentioned multiple times that people in their 20s to 30s do not test positive for the Coronavirus. 10.7% positivity rate on Florida.

I haven't seen him say that. I think he's said they won't die.

Correct. Death rates are incredibly low for people in those age categories. They are at very low risk from complications. Our resident troll is lying because, as I've said, I believe I had it myself and I am in my early 30s. It was nothing more than a mild cold.

People in low risk categories should be out living their lives as normal because if the virus pushes through that population, we quicken our journey towards herd immunity and don't lose many people along the way.

Ok you had a set of a maze puzzle that was kind to you but how about others that have been less fortunate due to blood type predisposed/hereditary markers etc...american 121k and counting dead...

In Florida the death rate and the hospitalization rate are going down, down, down.

7 day average hospitalizations in FL is the highest it has been in a month.
7 day average deaths in FL hasn't really budged in a month.

The percentage of positive cases to daily tests reported has gone up and is the highest it has been in 2 months.

I'm not saying they were wrong in opening, or that they need to shut down again or anything. The situation there is still quite manageable but their trend lines are not currently improving.

Merge, did you see Dr. Ostherholm on MTP yesterday? If not you may want to go back and see it. He doesn't see a second wave, but more of a slow burn where the virus will just need to work it's way through the country and we need to continue to have different strategies for different states, counties, etc.

Definitely seems to be the way it is progressing. It hit our area first as it was imported from Europe and China. It is now working its way through areas of the country that did not see spikes in March and April.

Just watched and agree with him. I never thought a 2nd wave being worse than the first one made much sense since as we learn more about transmission, we will be able to modify our behaviors.

But, that does rely on people doing there part to help contain it to prevent large peaks of infections and hospitalizations. I think a slow burn should be the goal until we have effective treatments or a vaccine available.

And all still much lower than before re-opening.

I mean, that's just not true.

7 day average # of hospitalizations is pretty much exactly the same now as the day they reopened.
Hit a low on June 6th of 108 and has increase since then and is up to 157.

Deaths per day has been consistent there.

Positive test rate is more than double what it was when they reopened.

None of those metrics look like they are going "down, down, down"

Cumulatively they are are as are most if the 7-day averages as per your site.

Cumulatively they are are as are most if the 7-day averages as per your site and this sheet I've been updating:

A hospitalization/death rate with a denominator we don't know doesn't tell you much. Take the number of new hospitalizations per day over the last 7 days. Drag that formula down. Which way is it trending?

We can assume that the rate of hospitalizations will be relatively consistent based on the number of infections... but we don't really know the number of infections. We can only really track actual hospital activity and we can extrapolate the number of cases from there. Looking at New York, based on these sites, we can assume a hospitalization rate of about 2.8%

https://covid19-projections.com/us-ny
https://covidtracking.com/data/state/new-york

In Florida, they are probably closer to 500k cases than 100k.

Same thing with the rate of positive cases. Gotta look at new tests per day and what percentage was positive.
They are currently around 10% when they were around 3-5% the last 2 months.
