Dr. Fauci gives grim projection

Two main factors in my mind behind our embarrassing, careless & deadly response to Covid:

- We've seen a complete lack of coordinated federal response, both epidemiological & economic. The administration's interests seem to fall in this order:
1. reelection
2a. grifting
2b. owning the blue states
end of list.

Back in January they could have told him "control the virus, get reelected". Maybe someone actually did & that criminal piece of shit just didn't listen. But a containment success was fool-proof path to electoral college reelection against a terrible candidate like Biden. Instead they didn't try...and here we are. Pelosi & Mitch are pretending to be too caught up on federal spending & the idea that people are collecting money while not working which is so ****ing galaxy brained I'll stroke out if I think about it too much.

2. Individualism, opposed to collectivism. "Me, not Us". "Masks are tyranny." It's just grotesque how selfish some people are.

This great Vanity Fair investigative article covers alot of aspects of #1, especialy in regards to the Kushner grift.

And the great governor's of NY and NJ did a great job with how nursing homes were handled, correct?

Hi all. More bad news part 2 for the garden state. 4 NJ counties have now been added as COVID-19 hotspots by FEMA. The CDC has now predicted NJ will be a hot spot within the next few weeks. Not good. Not good at all. The virus is coming back in NJ. Unfortunately it looks like I will be right about Murphy shutting down the state again in September.

Ok what would you like to happen as this point?

My point is that posters were calling me a "coward" and "jerk off" for saying there will be a second shutdown. Just for telling the truth. That's what I'm getting at. People just can't follow the script. The governor has the state scheduled to shut down again in September. 2 months before the election.

The transmission rate is the metric that Murphy has been using a lot. There will not any fans at CBB games this year. I guess casinos and sports betting facilities are exempt from the 25 persons maximum now?

No one wants an endless lockdown.
No one wants endless unemployment
No one wants children to go without school for year.
Pretending anyone is arguing in favor for any of that is a lie.

How do you know that??? How do you know for a fact that "No one" wants an endless lockdown? Are you 100% sure there is no political reason for the shutdowns?

Well, no one maybe other than you.

Shapiro is using that as a straw man (which he does constantly)
Argue against the point no one is arguing for because it is much easier.

You don't know that. There are many people who seem to be arguing for just that.

Seems strange when cases are actually not increasing in NJ.

I think RT is being skewed by the cases where you have larger house parties. The LBI lifeguard thing, Jackson party, etc. When you have a small number of people spreading to a many, it skews the number even though the rest of the state isn't seeing much transmission. That is clear by the positivity rate, which came down yet again today.

I'd also like to know how Murphy is calculating his numbers. the RT live website has NJ in a fairly good spot -- 0.97 as of right now. https://rt.live/us/NJ

Many Democrats, as well as many people who have been scared to wits end by the media and politicians.
Shu09 i think people really want to be working at this point, people wanna resume careers or start new ones. I dont think this is a grand plan to help biden.

When school is too start

You actually think Murphy is actually going to open schools in September? NOPE. The NJ teachers union is in his ear. He needs the union support to win in 2021. He will rationalize the September shutdown and and for that reason schools will continue virtual learning for the 2020-2021 school year.

It's fine if you think that, but it is something that should be fairly easy to support if there are really "many democrats" arguing for endless shutdowns and endless unemployment.

Parents who want their kids back in school dwarf the number of teachers in NJ.

I expect NJ schools will open.

Again not sure how much involved you are in state politics but the republicans gotta do better than jack ciatrelli

Most Pennsylvania high schools in the area seem to be going to a hybrid model. Half the student body goes to school on Monday and Tuesday. The other half goes on Thursday and Friday. Wednesday is a study at home day for everyone. Elementary schools seem to be full speed ahead however parents can opt to keep their kids at home and do online learning. Have no data to support it but it sounds like most parents are sending their kids to school. They understand the importance of in person learning and social skill development.

One thing we should also be pushing is the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. Instead of waiting for a vaccine, the most important thing you can do is address any comorbidities you may have. Too many people with type two diabetes, obesity or coronary heart disease that is addressable. Unfortunately, not much a attention is being paid to that.

According to the NJ Dept of Education recent survey, 54% of respondents said they would send children back to school, 11% would not, and 35% undecided. My City is going full time, 5 days a week for K-12.

Well sorry to put your hopes up. I'm just telling you. Murphy will shut down the schools and shut down the state in September. I can't wait to see everyone's reaction when I'm right lol.

Murphy is not the governor of Pennsylvania…

People who were not working but making more money than when they were working. Now that extra $600 expired, these people will be more motivated.

Lots of teachers.

People that are scared/panicked by the way the virus has been portrayed.

Bunch of guys on Patriots.

I think most schools districts plans are going to go with some type of hybrid model, but teachers and union pushing hard to go only distance, so my thought is Murphy will cave and year will at least start all distance.

Nice of you to shame those that were furloughed or lost their job due to the situation. I feel the logic and reasoning behind the 600 fed supppement per week was silly. What should have happened was add a federal supppement to anyone who files for x amount of weeks they had for the unemployment window.

As for unemployment theory, why would someone on unemployment who spent tenure at a company to accrue a higher salary not utilize as much of their unemployment as needed before they find a job that was closer to their prior salary than something out there that is far less?

To be clear. I am taking about the people Shapiro was referring to which are the politicians who are making the decisions.

The difficult thing is that the virus is going to spread in schools. They are coming up with plans they hope will work, but kids are going to get infected.

What is the plan when that happens? Obviously, quarantine those infected, but if they were in class, do you quarantine the entire class? The teacher? Are they just going to shut them down again?

We are planning to do 100% remote for a bunch of reasons... but I don’t envy Murphy here at all. If schools are open, more people will die. Easy to sit back and say it’s an acceptable number of death... but I’m not sure I could sleep well ever again after making that decision.

I would never tell anybody how to raise their kids, but I think you were taking an extreme position here. This virus is clearly not a death sentence especially for children. Unless your children are restricted to only being at home, it is almost impossible to prevent them from getting it.

we are lucky and that our children are grown, but I would opt to send them to school use common sense and follow the CDC guidelines.

Yeah, it’s situational. She’s on the PTA and apparently the school needs the extra space for their planned setup and we are in a position where my wife is home so it’s not an issue for us to homeschool them for the time being.

Can always change our mind later, but that’s the plan for now.

Are you concerned about them developing social skills?
