Moderna vaccine induced antibodies in all trial participants: paper

Doesn’t this go for any healthcare condition? There are tens of millions of people with Diabetes Type 2 for instance and many that choose not to manage their disease. There needs to be that same recognition because it’s good for everyone if they do. Same for many diseases. There are many people that can’t manage tThere are many people that can’t manage their own health much less wanna be in it altogether their disease, much less want to be in it all together.

I agree with the theory of personal responsibility but People have the freedom to get diabetes if they choose to live an unhealthy lifestyle. That would be a much different conversation if it was contagious.

If I could reduce the prevalence of diabetes by wearing a mask, I would wear a mask.

No, we're not. That's what they (politicians, big pharma, control freaks) want you to think.[/
Do you wear a mask in crowded places, especially indoors, and are you inclined to take the vaccine if its approved by the FDA and its developed by a reputable pharmaceutical company?

I wear a mask only where required. It is not my choice to wear one, but I comply with the rules.

I am not inclined to get the vaccine.

No different with the common flu also. There is always a segment that goes to work when they’re sick, don’t follow good cleanliness practices, etc.

Right, and when there is a vaccine and effective treatments available then we can treat Covid as we treat the flu.

Until then we had one way to beat this and that was to all take it seriously and make efforts to try and lower the spread.

Other countries understood that. We made it political.

Flu vaccines are not nearly 100% effective. You need to treat it seriously which many people don’t.

when it comes to medical opinions i tend to go with what @donnie_baseball leans towards. this board seems wildly split on getting it.

looks like we have people who get vaccines and get sick, people where the vaccine works perfectly. pretty big crap shoot. people like shu09 who think the entire thing is a hoax. if we want shu basketball back we should probably do our part with a collective practice. thats what we all want right? lets just be on the same page and hope for the best

i suppose the move is to not be the gineau pig, wait a few months and see how much chaos it prevents/causes. imo this is being fast tracked to make money. and when that happens im a tad suspicious of the safety.

Stop making crap up. I never said any of this is a hoax. You should ashamed of yourself.

What a pity too because I think you and I are not too far apart on most things.

you dont think the reaction to the virus is a political conspiracy? youre about as far on that side of the spectrum as anyone here.

No I don't. I think some people are enhancing it for political reasons, but I think the reaction itself was a massive overreaction based on bad information.

In your opinion, assuming mask wearing would still be politicized and compliance would have been an issue no matter what... what would have been the ideal response? What would that have looked like in terms of hospitalizations and deaths?

I’m just trying to understand more about where you are coming from there.

All we had to do was protect the vulnerable and encourage common sense precautions among the general public. Instead we created a litany of other problems that will have long term consequences.

Restricted or banned visitation to nursing homes. Daily testing for all staff before their shifts. Simple stuff.

But we did that in places like Florida and Texas where Covid is spreading rapidly and beginning to cause stress to their healthcare system.

I think that is where a lot of my disagreement with you stems from. I can see your perspective about the economic cost of shutting down, but I don’t think it’s any better under your scenario.

Kind of like Sweden vs Finland and Norway. Sweden’s economy will still take a hit just as bad as their neighbors but their death toll will end up at least 10x worse with a significantly more compliant population compared to the United States.

your reaction to wearing masks is what i find a bit too fanatical. japan did basically only that and theyre operating just fine. we could have been back by now. but nah ur getting a bit looney on the stat govts "controlling people to wear masks".

They have worn masks in Asian countries since at least the 1960s

Encourage is not a mandate, usa is a pretty hopeless country i for one am disappointed with the citizens and other occupants in the country...you are big on economy and jobs...would you really feel safe going to a job in closed quarters with no masks and distancing? We dont know who are carriers

So anyway, I had mentioned about treatments not being greatly publicized yet as I had started to hear some good results from nebulizer treatments, which seemed logical given their use for breathing difficulty symptoms of other diseases. Here is early news about a new nebulizer treatment study targeting COVID. It's also a good day to be a Synairgen stock holder, which sadly I am not.

I had a larger awareness on nebulizers than most non-medical people due to use with my children - most specifically my youngest son. He had RSV when he was an infant, and ever since then, we generally need to use a nebulizer treatment for him (1, close to 2 years old) pretty much whenever he has a cold due to it causing wheezing. Our instincts told us to stock up on his medications in case he, or our other children, became infected with COVID. The day things started to shut down here in Jackson, I had gone to the food store to make sure we had enough food for a few weeks. The next purchase before heading home was the nebulizer medication. I'm happy to see that there's some positive results in finding ways to combat the worst effects of the disease.

I'm not opposed to people wearing masks. If you want to, that's fine. I don't judge. I have a problem with the government forcing you to. Give them an inch, they'll take a mile. What will be next?

Yes, I've been working the whole time through this. I have no worries about the environment.

What is your capacity like? How many on a floor, what was office setup like prior to outbreak?

Small office, a few people in cubes in open area, a couple in side offices. I've had no worries and am glad to keep routine.

Need a national mandate like we do in wartime.
Would train people to enforce it. Maybe small fines or none.
Would call it the Mask Force. A temporary measure until this is behind us.

Results so far have been very positive. FDA is building a stockpile of half a million doses.

everyone who says they're not going to get it is so funny. everyone on this board will have gotten the vaccine by the end of 2021, guaranteed

There will not even be close to that many doses available for everyone to get it.

That’s a lot of doses. And this is a global issue.

I mentioned a little while ago that my cousin manages production at a facility that will be producing Sanofi’s candidate. He said they will be making 15 million vials at his facility and they will each have 10 doses.

Also there were 100 million H1N1 vaccine doses available in the US 3 months after FDA approval.

Granted, not apples to apples here but if any of these candidates get approved by the FDA, I don’t know of a reason why it wouldn’t be readily available by the end of 2021.

Ok, boss. Will refrain from smart-ass posts as soon as you stop posting how right you think you are about everything. Deal?
@donnie_baseball Deal Just let me know what I have been wrong on. If you go back to my post in March and April you can see they I said there will be a second set of lockdowns. Has that happened? Yes. That is happening now in California. This will also happen in New Jersey in September.

Also have I been wrong on masks? I have said that we will be wearing masks for the rest of our lives. The government will just become stricter and stricter on masks. Do you actually think mandatory mask wearing will end after the Coronavirus pandemic? Definitely not. The CDC will come out with a study that shows mask wearing will have a huge effect on preventing the next pandemic. We will be wearing masks at indoor events for the rest of our lives.

At last - have I been wrong about Florida and Georgia? I correctly said that the cases will surge because these states opened too early.

Let me know what I have got wrong!

But all your predictions are just generalizations, so you are always "going to be correct". Not saying you are right or wrong, just easy to always be right when you comment a certain way.

It is going to be bad, well what is bad? 1,000 dead, 50,000 dead, 250,000 dead?

More lockdowns. Well in such big country, pretty obvious some lockdowns possible if were hotspots.

Did some states open too early? Maybe some, maybe others not. Sure Florida numbers surging now, but if they waited a month or two, would they still have surged now or in a month?

But you have also made comments about masks (like above) and vaccines, that you are just making comments/guesses on, and if and when you are right or wrong will be not known for a long time.

You have also talked about wearing a mask in your own home when no visitors and wearing a hazmat suit outside, I have seen no health experts saying this is needed.

I've been on this medicine for years:

Taking cholesterol-lowering drug could reduce severity of coronavirus to the level of the common cold, study claims
  • Cholesterol-lowering drug Fenofibrate (Tricor) is providing a glimmer of hope
  • Scientists in New York and Jerusalem believe the drug could help treat COVID
  • The drug could reduce symptoms so that COVID-19 is no worse than a common cold, the study found

Hi @seton1996. Health experts have confirmed that Coronavirus spread does go down if you wear a mask at your house. This is why I do this. Please see first link below.

And yes, because of my family members condition that lives with me my doctor has recommended me to wear something more than resistant than a mask. So whenever I venture outside again I will be in a hazmat suit. Unfortunately I was hoping to get out of the house by January 2021. But the way this virus is running rampantly, it looks like I will not be outside again until spring 2021. A very very difficult time for this country.

Yes, if someone has the virus makes sense for others in home to wear mask in home, but neither you or your family have virus, so not sure why wearing a mask would be any help.

Yet people who don't have the virus are being forced to wear masks. Doesn't make sense.

Its mutual protection you do realize this?

Masks don't protect you. The stated purpose is to protect others around you. Why should someone who doesn't have the virus wear a mask? They aren't expelling anything harmful.
