I think most would agree, he will probably make more $$ next year in an NIL situation vs. a 2-way contract or G league type situation and will be able to continue improving his stock to be in a potential 1st round type situation.

What is it going to cost SHU to keep him another year? With programs like Kentucky, Kansas..... even St. Johns able to offer kids 6 figure contracts, will SHU be able to match?

One thought I had last night was that if the Seton Hall fanbase had an idea of the exact number it would take (and not an arbitrary insane number thrown out) and we could watch the progress of that money being raised... I'm sure we could do it collectively.

Part of the hesitation with blindly donating to Onward Setonia is that there really is no transparency as to how much is coming in, how it is exactly being used -- suppose this is a larger issue of NIL deals being done behind closed doors.

Regardless of what Kadary does, it's been such a joy watching him play this year. There is no doubt that with him, Addae and Dre back next year, SHU will be in a great position both from a financial and competitive standpoint.

GO PIRATES!!!

I have no delusions that those 3 will be back. It would be a huge surprise.

But it would be a solid foundation to start with them, Coleman, Felton, see Tubek uninjured and develop, and a JB replacement at the starting 5.

OK take more money or take less and stay with a program that has allowed you to develop your game to the point of being a bona-fide nba prospect..
A program where you will be guaranteed to run the show and continue to hone your game further. Its about 5 -10 years in the future not just next year. Easy for me to say right?

All good points. I think the counter is if he stays in college Kadary will probably be given reigns to "run the show" wherever he lands, and theoretically may have more help in doing so, allowing him to perhaps play a bit less and avoid some of the "general soreness". Another counter is that I'm sure Kadary has believed since he was at Cuse he's a NBA prospect, because he was listed and touted in Mock Drafts as such from when he was a freshman. In fact, I think his overall NBA prospect status has declined since he was a freshman because of how the outside shot looked this past season. So if there is a coach or a program with a track record of developing pros, and that is willing to pay him good NIL, I'm sure that's a potential factor.

Kadary is not on any draft boards right now and even as incredible as he is playing, will not get drafted.

dehere23 has a great point -- he lands in another spot with 4-6 guys at his level, he plays less minutes, gets the bag$$$$ and continues to hone his craft. Maybe bias, but he knows the SHU system, hopefully has built that raport with Shaheen, and now with reports of Andre Barrett coming into town (who played in NBA and has been involved in the organization for past few years) he could be in a position to significantly raise his stock!

If I were a scout I would be more concerned with his inconsistency than his shot.
That's no doubt part of it as well. Coupled with his age. A 17 or 18 year old that is inconsistent as a freshman gets far more leeyway there than a 22 year old. IMO NBA scouts expect a 22 year old that was a top 50 kid coming into college and on the NBA radar as a freshman to consistently play at a really high level if not dominate college players game in, game out. Unless they are some type of uber-specialist like a rim protecting big that is only going to be drafted for that skill.

While Richmond may not be on draft boards now, pre-workouts etc, I know for a fact he was his freshman season at Cuse. It is one of the reasons I was so excited we got him as a transfer.

There is a reasonable, but very fair high number SHU has in mind for Richmond. He is affordable to a degree. But if a blueblood throws a fortune at him, possible but not guaranteed, then he'll most likely leave.

Kooks is not a guy who would go to the highest bidder per say. He is a loyal guy. But if gets he overwhelmed then you wish him well and move on.

No doubt you believe this, but having been involved in money situations professionally and seeing portal movement, I think loyalty goes only so far. Remember there was a kid named Powell who was and still is the most celebrated player we had in the last few decades, and who Willard helped develop from an overweight kid at the back end of the top 100 to a legit first team AA. And we saw how money impacted “loyalty” in that situation.

If someone came in this board and posted that Powell wasn’t the most stand up, loyal, blue chip kid of all time, they would have been excoriated.

So I never pretend to know for sure anymore with any of these kids.

And that's why I said if gets he overwhelmed then you wish him well and move on.

But those that know him well believe money will not be the only reason he chooses a school. If most things are reasonably balanced he will not go to the highest bidder, instead picking the better fit.

Most posters do not have a good feel to this young man. I've gotten to know him and he's introverted yet awkwardly friendly.

If you ever got Richmond and Davis back, we’ll have some real juice.

Sha has connected with these guys. Retaining them should be top priority then supplement from there.

Big these 3 are also grad transfers. So they don’t have the same window for entering the portal.

They have both greatly improved under shas tutelage. Both are peaking
That counts for something.

You are right. I don't know him at all. I'm just saying that $$ has a way of changing things for people of all stripes. Nothing concrete and that's not universal, but the last person on earth anyone thought would file a lawsuit against Seton Hall and Kevin Willard was Myles Powell. If anyone had suggested our favorite son would ever, in a thousand-million years, do anything like that, they would have been either laughed at here or told they were a horrible human. Of course that's not going to be the case for every kid, and one situation doesn't impact or affect another, I just don't take anything for granted anymore in this day and age when it comes to supposed loyalty.

if he moves on it will be four coaches in five years. Hopefully there is some value for sticking with Sha.

Hopefully the prospect of one more year of college with a 4th coach will make him take our offer.

The important thing is does Kadary think it’s fair and reasonable? If he does you have a fighting chance. And next year we can put his family up at the Short Hills Hilton the night before Senior Night so they don’t miss it!

Well this sounds better than what the situation previously appeared to be.

This would be huge…question: if he should stay does it have any impact on what Dre does?

To me…he could be dynamic next year…after what was a breakout session this year.

You can’t replace that level of experience

I dont see any path to keeping Richmond. A school like Indiana who just got a 7.5M NIL donation is going to spend like crazy this off season. I think RIchmond could get close to 7 figures

I put zero stock in any of the numbers reported out there or on here. Again, it behooves every player in the portal to leak exaggerated figures, and gives every program an "out" if they lose a kid (we didn't have the money). Some might be true, but I'm sure much of it isn't.

His whole offseason should be developing his 3pt shot. If he adds that he’s a first rounder. If not he’ll go undrafted. It’s that Cut and dry
The NBA draft is long out of the picture for Kadary. Why are our fans like this?

The NBA draft is for athletic freaks, 19 year olds and Europeans. Not good college players that are well into their 20’s.

Richmond is 22. There were 13 college players drafted last year 22 or older.

This mock draft for 2024 has 14 players 22 or older.

I don’t think it’s likely he would get drafted, but he wouldn’t be a unicorn for his age if he was.

I have no idea where the numbers are, but just because they may have a $7.5 million worth of cash doesn’t mean you spend all of it. I don’t think any program is at the point where they can count on that kind of money every single year nor should they.

The market will dictate prices. Even a school with a lot of money is not going to pay twice or three times the value of a player if they don’t have to.

At age 23/24?
He’s only 22. He’s be 23 next draft. Now do I think is likely? No. He’s have to up his 3 pointers to taking at least 6 a game and hitting at least 35%. He has an NBA body and handle. If he could shoot it would make the other parts of his game more effective.

Covid and NIL changed this. If an NBA team can get a more plug and play guy rather than a project they will take it.
