US should restrict the operation of Chinese companies within our country to start. In addition, the government and private sector should come together to pull any and all manufacturing out of China. I'd gladly pay more for items made in the US instead of China.

Do you think it is a worthwhile endeavor for the United States to research coronaviruses?

Unfortunately, a bat cave where hundreds of these viruses occur in nature is in Wuhan. We didn’t pay Wuhan for their research, we paid a US company to go to Wuhan and research it themselves. You can’t just go to China and take what you want, of course there would be some kind of collaborative effort for them to agree to let a US company come in.

The same company (Ecohealth) worked with Saudi Arabia to research the origin of MERS.

You go to where the issue is to research it. If every virus started in America we wouldn’t need to go anywhere else, but that’s just not the case.

This is not a defense of China or to say that they didn’t do anything wrong but criticizing the US government for researching this stuff seems crazy.
