They aren't "pushing the vaccine" to reach herd immunity. They are encouraging people getting the vaccine so those at risk don't kill themselves because of something they read on Facebook. Even Hannity was encouraging people to get vaccinated yesterday.
It's only still news because states with low vaccination rates are seeing spikes in hospitalizations.

Hannity has been pushing people to get the vaccine since the beginning. The media just made a big deal out of it last night.

The governor has now admitted that 31 people in NJ who trusted in the safe and effective vaccines have passed from the virus. I can't imagine how their families feel right now after putting trust in big pharma. 84 fully vaccinated people in NJ hospitals. My doctor friend confirmed with me 22 of those are currently at his hospital.
Oh yeah, the governor also noted mask mandates are really a possibility. We will see where we are at by Labor Day!

Had dinner with a CFO from one of the large hospital systems in NJ (they serve both suburban and urban populations). He said vaccinations have stalled completely and none of the messaging is moving the needle. Then I heard a story this morning that only 60% of the NY Health and Hospital workers are vaccinated.
He added mental health appointments are up dramatically this year mostly due to isolation-born issues and are expected to stay high for the next three years.
Did Mr CFO say the hospitals are preparing for a spike in the fall/winter?
Or what is Mr CFO's take on the pandemic going forward?

Significantly. The flu shot (I've never taken one but from what I know) is something that you know you'll have to re-up every year. With these shots they never said that. The flu shot has also been proven safe time and time again with very few adverse event reports. Not the case with these shots as they are brand new and have a ton of adverse event incidents. More time and research needs to be put into the covid shots since they are brand new on the market. These shots also use a new delivery method that has never been tried with the public before. Most flu shots use inactivated virus.
Comparing the covid shot to the flu shot is apples and oranges.
Not all folks think like you. Me and many other responsible parents believe it’s negligent to not masks your kids in indoor public places including schools when they are unvaxxed.
So as long as we are revealing personal opinions, I also think those ppl that think masking kids are ABUSE are in fact idiots, extremely selfish and/or probably those who watch too much Fox News and their brains are warped by their propaganda.

Novel virus, not exactly familiar to them, unknown how it would mutate... I agree with you that this is overblown in the media. These variants are no different than the annual flu strains, slight mutations in the virus that cause it to attack slightly differently. It's not a stretch that an annual booster would be necessary to combat changes.
It's just they put silly words on this shit. VARIANT THIS, BOOSTER THAT. If we named every friggin flu variant and blasted it on the news, and then talked about how the prior year's flu shot was INEFFECIVE AGAINST THE NEW VARIANT and an ANNUAL FLU BOOSTER would be available, that is absolutely no different. But this shit is sensationalized and it glues people to cable news. And that sells advertising dollars.
Sorry, too busy living my life since <1% of delta hospitalizations and deaths are within the vaccinated population, per the experts in the article YOU POSTED.
My 6 year old twins don't complain about masks. My son has lung issues. I would like to see a vaccine for him that is fully approved, not EUA. He will get it then and I'll feel the same way I do about my masking (which is only when required, entering a medical facility - which I didn't complain about, just put a ****ing mask on).
Further, I agree masks for older kids, around teen years, is more of a problem. But it should be a choice at this point.
