25% of Americans will not take COVID Vaccine

So the only issue is unvaccinated hospitalizations overwhelming the healthcare system. So Jersey with one of the highest vaccination rates shouldn’t have any need for any sort of restrictions until there is a drastic rise in hospitalizations among vaccinated people.

Right, but again, those things are not contagious so they don’t really have the same impact to healthcare workers.
Also, I believe you have been saying the government should be doing more to fight heart disease and drug use, right? Not like we should just throw in the towel on any of these... we should be promoting education and prevention with heart disease.
But if you’re vaccinated, you’re at a very low to becoming severely ill or dying. I would assume healthcare workers who have been stressed out about working in this environment would’ve been the first to be vaccinated.

Right, and maybe they have family members they don’t want to pass it to? All I’m saying is I feel bad for them that they will have to deal with an influx of people who are at risk who are choosing not to get vaccinated because of some nonsense.

But they’re dealing with an influx of people with other diseases every day. Some of which are also contagious. That’s what healthcare workers sign up for.

@Merge This pandemic is spiraling out of control. You and president Biden said this country was going to reach 70% vaccination rate this summer. We are currently at 49%. You said covid would be a non story this summer in this country. You are incorrect on that as well. We are going to see a huge surge in this country going into the fall and NJ. The editor of NJ.com said this fall could look a lot like spring 2020.

A couple posters on this board were telling the variants were going to be a non factor. That is clearly incorrect now. I was warning this board a couple months ago about the Delta and Lambda Variants. The country is now over 50,000 positive cases ago and Dr Fauci said we can be over 100,000 positive cases in just a couple weeks. Those are January 2021 numbers. Dr Fauci said this will not be good and this country and now at a huge risk of having a variant that will totally evade the safe and effective vaccines. It could happen this fall.

It’s a global pandemic and you think I’m wrong that I feel bad for the workers that have to deal with surges in hospitalizations in areas with low vaccination rates?

We have the tool available to prevent those spikes for people at risk. Yes, it is their choice (largely driven by conspiracy theory ignorance) but I still feel bad for the workers who have to deal with it and worry about brining it home to their families.

No.

No on what point? Do you now not listen to the health experts? Do you think Dr Fauci who you adored for months is not worth listening to?
Do you disagree with health experts that this pandemic is spiraling out of control?

I'm not telling you how to feel. If you want to feel bad, go ahead. Those same workers have to deal with managing other contagious diseases every day. I have the utmost respect with them for dealing with those and the other things that they need to see every day and put themselves at risk.

We have the tools available to deal with other infectious diseases, viruses, etc. but there is always going to be a segment of the population that chooses to ignore them whether it puts them more at risk, or others. How do you know their choice is "largely due to conspiracy theory ignorance"? Sounds like you are in your own echo chamber.

You're out here like posts by 09 that the vaccine is gene therapy, but you say the unvaccinated aren't following conspiracy theories. You should read what you endorse.

Generally uneducated people don’t get the vax. That’s a generalization. It’s socioeconomics and inconvenient for the Trump haters

Who brought Trump up? 09 proving to be uneducated with his conspiracy theories. The guy needs to man up and get a shot, along with the others.

Me to answer your question. Think others have too but I don’t care, as I did.

Ok. You like to name call here and you probably don’t know shit about him or anyone else, but go for it!

Name calling? Where?

You call Merge the bookkeeper as an insult. Look in the mirror

Man up, get the shot, we can have someone hold your hand if you're scared.

the second sentence is accurate lol. Why he talks about his profession, that’s on him. Again, I got the vax.

Didn't the poster you are replying say he got the vax in past posts? I don't understand the purpose of your post here.

This response makes no sense. Tough to respond to a rant.

Well, since my significant other is a nurse and she is on the frontlines, I have some insight into this. Here is the difference with CoVid. Having an N-95 mask on and then having a surgical mask over that and working 12 to 14 hours on your shift is very difficult on those workers. They have a hard time breathing and the N-95's masks hurt, mark and bruise their faces. There is also an emotional toll that it has on Doctors, nurses, respiratory therapist, etc. despite the fact that they deal with disease everyday. The more they get exposed, the greater the chance that they can be a victim of a breakthrough case. CoVid has not been business like usual for healthcare workers. They are tired of CoVid and want to get back to normal. Their job is stressful enough.

Has your wife ever been in a MRSA unit?

So how do you project one nutcase to a population that is largely doing it because of what she is suggesting? Try harder.

Plenty of support on that idea.

First of all the headline of the Newsweek article is totally false as they go on to say that the survey results indicated: One in five Americans believe that the U.S. government is using the vaccine to plant microchip tracking devices into people, the survey found. How does 20% equal a majority???

And no kidding, there are echo-chambers on social media. That's news? But it doesn't reflect your original claim....weak sauce Merge.

We're all tired of covid, but the government and media won't let us let it go.

It's almost like you didn't read it. "Majority of unvaccinated Americans" It's right there.

So very few vaccinated believe it, lots of unvaccinated people believe it which is exactly my point that there is a large gap driven by conspiracy theory nonsense. It's pretty clear unless you really just don't want to see it.

20% of the people polled actually think the vaccine is used to plant a microchip is ridiculously high insanity. You take comfort in the fact that it is not a majority?

No, if you read the article, it also said - "Pollsters said that when asked why they will not get the vaccine, 90 percent feared the side effects."...which is also why most people don't get a flu vaccine, etc. You are trying to make another conspiracy theory a reality and there is no data to support it.

Not that I am aware. She is in a Cardiac/Neuro unit.
Well you have to take the same precautions in a MRSA unit that you do with COVID patients. Like I said, I have the utmost respect for healthcare workers (your wife included), and no one is denying their job has stress factors. But given where we are now (more knowledge about COVID and having vaccines available), this is now something that is being treated as most other contagious diseases in a hospital.

You're not following...

On the question if the U.S. government is definitely or likely using the COVID-19 vaccine to microchip the population

Vaccinated - 9%
Will not be vaccinated - 51%

So, like I said. It's pretty clear unless you really just don't want to see it.

Yes we are tired of it and too many people won't do the right thing and get vaccinated because of their wacky, crazy conspiracy laden delusions.

Ahh, the old playbook. Call anyone you disagree with a conspiracy theorist. Too funny.

Tell me, what assurances has the government given us that they will drop any and all restrictions and stop the hysteria if everyone got the vaccine? Answer - None. Provide some concrete path to never speaking of covid again and maybe, just maybe, some people will say that's good enough for me to take the shot.

There is no certain concrete path. We just have a choice between two paths and we know one is far better than the other but neither provides anything certain.

We can only respond to the facts in front of us. If those facts become materially different months or years from now, the assurance they gave you means nothing.

Seems clear that areas with high vaccination rates have been removing restrictions.

I can't say for all hospitals, but there are no MRSA units in the hospital that she is in and she is in one of the best and biggest hospitals in the State. Also, MRSA is a contact infectious disease not airborne like CoVid. I am pretty sure it is not the same thing which results in different protocols. Also, those patients get isolated. After the nurse treat the patient, the heath care workers can take off their protective gear until the time they have to go back into the room with the patient. With CoVid, PPE's are on all the time the entire shift You may have lunch with CEOs of a hospital but you are not on the floors to see what is going on.
