Potential Sha Replacements

Nope, neither does Philly or DMV either.

FWIW every one of our assistants is from the NY-NJ area too. This needs to change also.

If Sha agrees to funnel some of his salary ( good amount ) towards paying the players he says he needs to compete at SHU, and the athletic department/university does the same, I am fine with our current coach.

Is he as great as some people make him out to be ? Absolutely not. But he does have a track record and proven past success.

Run it back with a reasonable budget and I bet it's a hell of a lot better next season. I just can't see it ever being this bad again.

I'm not a big P4P guy but I'll step it up with that revenue model and buy season tickets again, buy merchandise I like and force myself to throw a few bucks toward NIL.

Many will argue "it's different," and it is, but I keep thinking of Jeff Ruland at Iona in late 90's - early/mid 2000s. Like Shaheen, an alumnus of the school; same conference where Holloway achieved deserved recognition. Three NCAA trips in nine years from a one-bid league.
In 2005-2006 Iona is 23-8 and is a #13 seed in the tournament. Next year with first eight players from previous team leaving or out for season, he goes 2-28. He's gone.
Ironically, he is replaced by our own Kevin Willard and Shaheen.
There were a number of other things going on around the program at that time.

Also, Ruland was sub .500 in four of his final six (of nine total) years at Iona.

Everybody is wasting their time. Holloway is going

Everybody is wasting their time. Holloway is going nowhere.
I think most of us accept the reality that Seton Hall is not going to eat multi years of Sha’s salary and he’ll be here for the length of his contract. That doesn’t mean that he’s immune from criticism where criticism is warranted.

Absolutely. He’s not immune to criticism, and quite frankly deserves a lot of it this year. But there is no way he is being fired and suggesting it shows a total lack of comprehension of how things work especially here in SHU.

Of course he deserves some blame for this fiasco. And he knows it. He is taking the amount of criticism he deserves hard as no one wants to win more than he.

My point is that I and others worry about his health. To see him in the post game is brutal. He has the weight of the world on his shoulders right now.

How about Brian Earl? Jersey guy; turned around Cornell; off to hot start at William & Mary.
William and Mary. Good seats are always available on the night of the game and the caliber of basketball.
Is good enough to satisfy most fans. College basketball the way it should be, not with a bunch of teenage professionals representing the university.

If we need our coach to use some of his salary to pay players, we are not a serious program.

If our only Big East win of the season is a gift & miracle win over the second worst team in the conference we are not a serious program.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. One more year of this garbage & there will be no more friends in the media to defend it.

You're not wrong, but the desperate measures need to be something other than a coaching salary refund. Suppose that plan actually works, and Shaheen makes the tournament next year. Why on Earth wouldn't he leave immediately for a better opportunity? And who on Earth would touch this job with a 10-foot pole?

And, on top of that, he has to read the inane nonsense spewed on this Board.

In that case he can hold his head up high knowing the program is in just as good shape as it was when he arrived & I wouldn't blame him at all if he left. Bottom line is if Sha needs a bottomless pit of $ to be competitive he's at the wrong school. SH needs a coach that can work successfully within a limited budget & embrace the great opportunity he's presented with rather than constantly complain about it.

I have no doubt Sha is stressed and is taking the losing hard.

But he needs to focus on the things or in his control. Reflect on his own coaching; are there issues with the staff., etc. in any executive position, you’re going to have critics. If his health is affected by a couple of idiots on a message board, then he has bigger problems.

Is LSU football not a serious program? Brian Kelly giving over a million to NIL from his salary next year. Sha needs to do the same after this disgrace. Get some ball knowledge.
I don’t follow college football but I very much doubt LSU needs Brian Kelly’s donations to pay players. If Shaheen wants to donate, good for him. If we need his money to compete, shame on us.

?? I did not say anything about Sha being replaced. So maybe you are confusing my comments with someone else??

I did say and I"ll stick by it, that I would let anyone on the roster go and in order to bring back an upper tier PG. So, if that means $800,000 or more they should do it. Really they have to do it. Those empty seats vs Butler are the biggest Red Flag to date.
ok if I misread, or my reply was intended for someone else, I apologize.

Your assessment of Shaheen's health is alarming. Does that mean, though, that he thought the team would be considerably better: maybe a game or two below .500 in the Big East? 9-11 or 8-12? Has he been blindsided to an extent by its shortcomings?

This model of coaches reducing salary to increase revenue to pay players is already out there. Oak St, LSU and Florida State are 3 examples, with Mike Norvell of Fl. St. providing a 4.5 million dollar contribution to a fundraising campaign, this year alone.

With revenue sharing universities will be even more focused on making sure their spending translates to measurable success on and off the court and I think this model with coaches will grow.

If Sha is approached ( I think he will be ) and he doesn't participate in some way than he shouldn't expect anyone else to give SHU a dime. It's just a bad look and I seriously doubt it will happen.

Last thing, we DO need his support to complete at a very high level next year and I am sure he understands that as well. -- SHU isn't alone here.

I am furious at Coach Sha for letting Sada NgaNga leave before the season. I am fine with Seton Hall replacing him with a new head coach.
I believe there is an APB out for him since he's been DNP since January 18. Perhaps he's injured which means he would fit right in here.

The 4.5 PPG against D-I opponents indicates we badly miss his contributions.

You have to figure we'd be a near lock for the Final Four if NgaNga were still here.
The question is the Final Four of what?
