I want Sha to succeed but there will be plenty of people that would take the job and not just alumni.I think you'd be surprised. As far as being from NJ, what good is that doing us? We don't have one guy on the roster from NJ.

There were a number of other things going on around the program at that time. Many will argue "it's different," and it is, but I keep thinking of Jeff Ruland at Iona in late 90's - early/mid 2000s. Like Shaheen, an alumnus of the school; same conference where Holloway achieved deserved recognition. Three NCAA trips in nine years from a one-bid league.
In 2005-2006 Iona is 23-8 and is a #13 seed in the tournament. Next year with first eight players from previous team leaving or out for season, he goes 2-28. He's gone.
Ironically, he is replaced by our own Kevin Willard and Shaheen.
Everybody is wasting their time. Holloway is going
I think most of us accept the reality that Seton Hall is not going to eat multi years of Sha’s salary and he’ll be here for the length of his contract. That doesn’t mean that he’s immune from criticism where criticism is warranted.Everybody is wasting their time. Holloway is going nowhere.
Absolutely. He’s not immune to criticism, and quite frankly deserves a lot of it this year. But there is no way he is being fired and suggesting it shows a total lack of comprehension of how things work especially here in SHU.I think most of us accept the reality that Seton Hall is not going to eat multi years of Sha’s salary and he’ll be here for the length of his contract. Of course he deserves some blame for this fiasco. And he knows it. He is taking the amount of criticism he deserves hard as no one wants to win more than he.I think most of us accept the reality that Seton Hall is not going to eat multi years of Sha’s salary and he’ll be here for the length of his contract. William and Mary. Good seats are always available on the night of the game and the caliber of basketball. How about Brian Earl? Jersey guy; turned around Cornell; off to hot start at William & Mary.
If we need our coach to use some of his salary to pay players, we are not a serious program. If Sha agrees to funnel some of his salary ( good amount ) towards paying the players he says he needs to compete at SHU, and the athletic department/university does the same, I am fine with our current coach.
Is he as great as some people make him out to be ? Absolutely not. But he does have a track record and proven past success.
Run it back with a reasonable budget and I bet it's a hell of a lot better next season. I just can't see it ever being this bad again.
I'm not a big P4P guy but I'll step it up with that revenue model and buy season tickets again, buy merchandise I like and force myself to throw a few bucks toward NIL.
And, on top of that, he has to read the inane nonsense spewed on this Board.Of course he deserves some blame for this fiasco. And he knows it. He is taking the amount of criticism he deserves hard as no one wants to win more than he.
My point is that I and others worry about his health. To see him in the post game is brutal. He has the weight of the world on his shoulders right now.
You're not wrong, but the desperate measures need to be something other than a coaching salary refund. Suppose that plan actually works, and Shaheen makes the tournament next year. Why on Earth wouldn't he leave immediately for a better opportunity? And who on Earth would touch this job with a 10-foot pole?
Is LSU football not a serious program? Brian Kelly giving over a million to NIL from his salary next year. Sha needs to do the same after this disgrace. Get some ball knowledge. If we need our coach to use some of his salary to pay players, we are not a serious program.
I have no doubt Sha is stressed and is taking the losing hard. And, on top of that, he has to read the inane nonsense spewed on this Board.
I don’t follow college football but I very much doubt LSU needs Brian Kelly’s donations to pay players. If Shaheen wants to donate, good for him. If we need his money to compete, shame on us.Is LSU football not a serious program? Brian Kelly giving over a million to NIL from his salary next year. Sha needs to do the same after this disgrace. ok if I misread, or my reply was intended for someone else, I apologize.?? I did not say anything about Sha being replaced. So maybe you are confusing my comments with someone else??
I did say and I"ll stick by it, that I would let anyone on the roster go and in order to bring back an upper tier PG. So, if that means $800,000 or more they should do it. Really they have to do it. Those empty seats vs Butler are the biggest Red Flag to date.
Your assessment of Shaheen's health is alarming. Does that mean, though, that he thought the team would be considerably better: maybe a game or two below .500 in the Big East? 9-11 or 8-12? Has he been blindsided to an extent by its shortcomings?Of course he deserves some blame for this fiasco. And he knows it. He is taking the amount of criticism he deserves hard as no one wants to win more than he.

This model of coaches reducing salary to increase revenue to pay players is already out there. Oak St, LSU and Florida State are 3 examples, with Mike Norvell of Fl. St. providing a 4.5 million dollar contribution to a fundraising campaign, this year alone.I don’t follow college football but I very much doubt LSU needs Brian Kelly’s donations to pay players. If Shaheen wants to donate, good for him. If we need his money to compete, shame on us.
I believe there is an APB out for him since he's been DNP since January 18. Perhaps he's injured which means he would fit right in here.I am furious at Coach Sha for letting Sada NgaNga leave before the season. I am fine with Seton Hall replacing him with a new head coach.
The question is the Final Four of what? You have to figure we'd be a near lock for the Final Four if NgaNga were still here.
If the Seton Hall head men’s basketball coaching position opens up let’s make it one that has a true national search and not have one that just focuses on candidates with a SH connection .
Just cause he was on the broadcast last night doesn’t mean he should be our coach.Phil Martelli Jr. off to nice start in first two years at Bryant. And his father could provide wise and able guidance.
Agree. How about figuring out a way to iso Dual so he could post up against Brickus.
With all due respect to Sha, if he can’t take the heat, he should get out of the kitchen as a once great philosopher noted. If losing affects a persons health, he should get out of coaching for his sake and that of his family. And, on top of that, he has to read the inane nonsense spewed on this Board.
Teams in all of D-1. 😂The question is the Final Four of what?

We've had two coaches with real Seton Hall connections since the 1960's, Richie and Sha. And Shaheen was a no-brainer according to 250% of this board. If the Seton Hall head men’s basketball coaching position opens up let’s make it one that has a true national search and not have one that just focuses on candidates with a SH connection .
We did that without Nganga. The Final Four of the Shriner's Charleston Classic?
Adding to this: Sha also deserves a longer leash than usual in this situation. The reason being that he is the only coach who could potentially stay at SHU for the duration of his career. Anyone else SHU could hire would only view the job as a stepping stone for something bigger and would bail after the first good season.Replacing Sha is not an option given the amount of money the school would have to eat on his contract. After this season though, it is fair to ask whether he has the ability to coach offense at the high major level. I don’t care who your players are. Regular scoring under 25 points in a half is inexcusable.
He absolutely needs to bring in an assistant with an offensive background and hand over the reigns.
