Roy Moore

The see saw continues. Every time it seems one party is in control they screw it up and then the see saw swings back to the other side. Will they ever learn and actually give a crap about the American people?

It’s a big moment for dems. This is their Scott Brown.

Had Moore won, the narrative would have been all about Trump saving the day and the voters responding to Trump.

Had he just said “let the voters decide” the narrative would have just been that Moore was a bad candidate. Now it is a referendum on Trump and his policies.

Will republicans embrace or distance themselves from Trump heading into - midterm year?

Funny thing is, it was the repudiation of Trump that led to Moore's primary victory.

Very true! I'm just glad that Ahole Bannon got a big L next to his name on this one. He can't walk off a short pier fast enough. I just wish he had some dirt on the Clintons then he'd be history - I kid... kind of...;)

They go hand in hand.

Conservatives and Trump ran on repealing the ACA but they never actually had a plan for what that would look like.

The tax bill does not poll well at all so it will be an interesting couple weeks.
If they don't get it through before the new year, it is likely to die as well... and if they do push it through it just gives dems more ammunition heading into the midterms - and while there will be different names on the ballot, Democrats will all be running against Trump because he is wildly unpopular and it is working.
It really will come down to how the economy is doing during the mid-terms...if the tax bill provides some short term lift and unemployment continues to decline, I don't see a major shift unless there is a wave of sexual harassment resignations.

I'm not complaining, but I am looking long term and I do not think this tax bill is good economic policy.
How do you know? This may provide more jobs especially to those at the bottom who are willing to work hard. If it doesn't then it will be changed.
It's worth a shot but I won't get anything from it- and in fact might lose a few bucks.

I'll rephrase - My opinion is that this is bad economic policy.
That is based on my study of economics, as well as empirical evidence that trickle down doesn't work.

Just because corporations pay less taxes doesn't mean they invest.
Corporations invest when there is a demand for investment. Cutting their tax bills does not create demand.

It's not "worth a shot" because you have to get this right. You can't cut corporate taxes and then look again next year and say, you were wrong and need to increase their taxes.

I don't think characterize the entirety of this bill as trickle down is not accurate.

There are a lot of moving parts to this. Repatriation of profits is one of them The degree to which that happens is anyone's guess, but economics tells us it will happen at some level.

I agree that lower taxes does not necessarily equate to more direct investment for every corporation. However, the money does not disappear. At a minimum, the money will be invested indirectly in other companies through the corps' treasury investments.

Had breakfast with a Congressman today and his take was that they have the votes, but there's a few wild cards. Apparently, McCain is not doing well and there is concern he may not make it for the vote. Next up will be DACA (in the New Year) along with immigration reform...going to move away from using the "Wall" to Operational Control and Enhancements. (but, he said we can't control what Trump tweets....). With regards to the sexual harassment allegations, let's just say that of the characters that have been in the public (Conyers, Franks, Franken, Farrenhold)...they are all even worse than being portrayed in the press. Majority of Congressional Republicans are happy that Moore did not win. "He is a really bad guy"...was the quote. I left with the feeling that we shouldn't be too excited about Washington changing by themselves anytime soon and no prospects for a third party, but what he termed a "strong, independent realignment" is in the winds.
