Jersey Shore Nightclub Closes for 2020 Summer

SHU09 is making fun us of because we want 2 more weeks of data from Georgia. But its just the truth. I'm hoping we see good news from Georgia in 2 weeks but I'm not optimistic about it right now.

The good thing is that we have the experience where citizens know they need to take this seriously. I'm not saying what the outcome will be there. They might be ok which would be great... but we need time to understand.

I would never want to live my life that way, if you really want to call that living. I've been out and about as much as possible, will continue to do so, want to be out even more.

I don't need a mother (Cuomo/Murphy) treating me like a toddler.

You wouldn't want to live a life that saves lives? I make all of my trades from home everyday, Video Chat with all my clients, and have everything sent to my house everyday. I think I have a pretty good life and I will continue sheltering in place until this pandemic is over.

What was unknown? We always knew this virus had much more of an impact on the elderly.

We didn't know which populations were at risk. We didn't know hypertension would be the most prevalent comorbidity. (half of US adults have hypertension) We didn't know how fast it was spreading, we didn't know how deadly it was to the overall population.

We didn't know quite a bit and we are still learning.

Not if that kills/destroys others in the process.

That should be your choice, not a mandate.

Yes we did. We knew that the elderly were at greatest risk as they were the people primarily dying in China, Iran, Italy, South Korea, all the early places this hit.

yeah, I agreed we knew the elderly were more of a risk. The older you get, the worse the outcome seemed to be.

. Not sure why you are taking issue that almost everything else was unknown in March.

A close friend's son is a priest in the coal region. He report lots of struggles, suicides and a bunch of other issues due to the stay at home.

The attached article may be a reflection of that. The county has decided to defy the governor. I wouldn't be surprised if there are more that follow.

Is George Halcovage related to the Villanova assistant coach? Maybe his father.

Dauphin County, PA is doing the same:

From my Nova and coal region buddy:

Yes, George Sr is his dad and a Villanova grad and a Schuylkill county commissioner. Great guy with a great singing voice, which I've unfortunately heard at too many coal region funerals.

BTW, this guy was Chris Ford's roommate.

Personal choice. This is precisely the point!

Open the world up again. Observe best practices. Maintain strict measures in nursing homes. If you are afraid to leave your house, then stay home. It is your choice. No one would hold a gun to your head to make you leave your house. (Given of some you who have stated your intentions in that regard, I'd be delighted. ;) )

We know we have the health care capacity to handle this.

If people end up dying because they got exposed, it would be their own choice, not the governor's, not Trump's, not Fauci's.

May 10th, I am generally on board with that.

Mid March through April, I disagree.

And I also disagree with phrasing the argument about personal risk. It was never about personal risk. It was about stopping the spread.

I wasn't talking about then. I'm talking about now.

https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id...-coronavirus-tests-mlb-employees?platform=amp

Interesting antibody testing done by the MLB. I thought that number was going to be higher though. A couple of questions I have:

1. What type of areas did these employees live in? How many lived in the tri state area ? I still think there will be a lot more people that have antibidies in the tri state compared to other parts of the country.

2. What was the percentage of minorities that were tested?

3. What are your guys opinion on this test?

4. When will we have widespread antibody testing like this in this country? We need testing like this asap!

@shu09 what do you think of this article? Fair or fear mongering? Because this is what I have been exactly saying on this board

Fear mongering for sure. The bulk of this outbreak was in New York City and I bet a fairly sizable percentage of the population has been exposed. This will not be 1918-19 because 1) healthcare is so much better, 2) there's no world war going on and 3) this doesn't affect younger people as severely. The Spanish Flu attacked healthy, young people more so than others.

Does the antibody testing by the MLB concern you at all?

@shu09 Also note the number of children with Kawasaki disease symptoms in NYC are now 85. Yesterday it was 15. The virus could be mutating. This can be devastating.

Just a very crazy time to be alive. I haven't taken a step out of my house since March 20th when the governor issued stay at home order/ 24/7 curfew that a lot of people are breaking. I don't expect to step out of my house until thing is over.

If this is true, I honestly hope you are able to step out of your house. Not getting outside is very dangerous to your health. I hope you are not gaining a lot of weight, experiencing blood clotting or other things. Your muscles have likely atrophied and your Vitamin D levels may be very low. The human body is designed for movement and activity, not endless sitting and inactivity.

I read something today that said Vitamin D deficiency may put people at much higher risk for serious complications if you catch the virus. This is another reason why lockdowns are ineffective and actually dangerous. People are not outside exposing themselves to different environments. This has a terrible effect on your immune system.

Totally healthy. Have a full gym in the basement of my house. Lifting weights and doing cardio everyday. And I think your line of thinking is wrong. I am saving lives right now. As health officials have said the only way this virus dies is people need to seriously just stay home.

When I back outside I will be wearing a hazmat suit in order to not get the virus

Also I take vitamin D everyday. So no I'm not gaining weight because I work out 7 days a week. My muscles have also not "atrophied"

For instance, we have had 8 employees test positive, all Hispanic and all living in apartments.

I am not sure the apartments is the key. I'd take a look at how many of those had relatives in the NY Metro visit.

I don't have hard data but I have many interactions with Allentown Hispanics and many have migrated from the NY Metro or have current relatives that visit.

I have also posted on the drug corridor. On that I do have data and more experience. I put high odds that traffic brought some cases to the eastern half of PA.

Add to that the commuters from NY/NJ and you have a complete picture of the spread.

We should have controlled the bridges on the Delaware instead of shutting down an entire state. We should have shut down the buses early on.

Two maps to make it clear. NYC is the epicenter. The east-west arteries spread the virus to Eastern PA.

I'd add another theory which would be worth investigating albeit I would not know hoe to go about it.

Hall85, you may have some insight into this also.

Having spent the last 5 years visiting 4 nursing homes you notice the Hispanic, Dominican, Haitian, Eastern European labor force. Many are low paid positions. They are usually hourly with no benefits and hence they have less ability to stay home voluntarily. They simply can't afford it. I'll add that these are hard working, dedicated people who I was grateful for their service to my relatives.

I posted previous on the Hispanic connection to New York. We will never know but I would love to know if the virus traveled from NY and then an asymptomatic staff member unknowingly introduced it into the vulnerable populations of the nursing homes.

I don't have any data to support that theory, but it does make sense. I think I mentioned in an earlier thread, that a nursing home is unfortunately the perfect storm given the model that it operates and the lack of attention it gets from the media and politicians. The CNA's and aides in nursing homes are stretched thin.

On your other point, one thing I do know is that the majority of COVID patients that presented in the St. Luke's and LVHN hospitals in the Pocono's, were NY residents. My sense is that a number of them have second homes in the Pocono's or felt they had a better chance for treatment in PA vs. NYC.

Okay, now it's clear you're just a troll. I'm going to use the ignore feature for the first time ever.

Not only is he a troll, he's got "priviledge" as the left loves to say. Lol

Why does everything need to be political here? We have a climate with many current unknowns and the gravity of the unknowns weigh more than the knowns. Government either gonna be blamed for doing too much or not enough. To me, president botched this from months back and we are currently seeing the fallout from that now.

Just noting how our resident troll can "not step out of his house" for 2 months because he has the means to live in fear. Many people cannot just hide in their house working out waiting for the pandemic to end.

What should the president have done differently in your opinion?
