Potential Sha Replacements

Adding to this: Sha also deserves a longer leash than usual in this situation. The reason being that he is the only coach who could potentially stay at SHU for the duration of his career. Anyone else SHU could hire would only view the job as a stepping stone for something bigger and would bail after the first good season.

Sha has been bad this season, real bad. His moneyball approach to the roster failed and this team has not made any identifiable progress as a whole throughout the season. He deserves plenty of criticism but it would be foolish to replace him before his contract is up.
Agree with this as well.

He went through last year at 13-7 in the BE actively complaining about the bench and so forth too. Now look what he did. This has been so bad this year all around that there are now legitimate questions about the willingness to adjust. We'll see shortly. Here's hoping for the best.

He cares, has a work ethic a school like The Hall needs, and is a prideful guy. BUT there need to be adjustments in basketball philosophy at this level, as well as opening the program up more so it can benefit from a media presence. He's trying to operate like it's St. Peter's.

OK, I’ll throw some suggestions out

Grant B and Donald Copeland, for obvious reasons. Let’s not forget Level Sanders, too.

Don’t think NBA coaches without college experience work well, but I’ll also toss out Mark Bryant and Adrian Griffin for sake of discussion.

Could go back to Iona pipeline with Tobin Anderson.

Jersey Guy Andy Toole has struggled since Robert Morris changed conferences but perhaps worth a look.
I see Toole is on Jerry’s podcast in honor of a Horizon League title—finally adjusted to moving up to tougher competition. Certainly worth a look now.

If replacing Sha takes place we can’t think narrowly and just come up with a list of candidates that have a connection to Seton Hall but think out side the box and have a true national search..

Pretty sure I’ve conducted more exhaustive search in this thread than our admin did before it handed job to Sha.
Sha was perhaps the easiest no brainer selection in college basketball that year. This board would have exploded if we went and hired a different coach when Willard left. Sha was a pretty hot commodity after his Elite 8 run.

You’re right. It would have. But after 3 years and no tournaments to show for it, the clock is ticking. This is why the “smart” people responsible for making decisions are supposed to look at all of their options. Not just the shiny new toy 15 miles away that shocked the nation with an epic run. Fans are emotional. The administration is supposed to remain neutral during the hiring process. A few people here pointed out that Sha had some glaring flaws at St. Peter’s. Those flaws are now major flaws amplified by playing with the big boys. Sha and everyone else above him has officially messed this up. Enough with his rah-rah quotes. Fix it or get out.

There were dissenting voices. The choice was an easy one. To suggest it wasn't an easy choice at the time off this season is classic emotional Fandom

Is every thread going to be a fire Sha thread? It’s so easy just to point a gun and fire away blindly.

How many times is it going to be said that this year was a disaster?!

I’m not saying to coddle Sha, but this season’s outcome was decided back in November. We all saw it.

But he’s not going anywhere so continuing to hem and haw on here about a new coach is not only a waste of time, it’s getting annoying to see the ignorance of some on here.

I’d swear these bunch of posters now want to actually argue with posters supporting Sha as if it’s a poster’s decision on the matter. 😂😂😂.

Sifting through threads to shout into the void about a national search at the time of hiring Sha.

As if they wouldn’t have hired him at that time. Too ridiculous on here.
